  1. Not sure if it's just me but I can't see any picture? I think a lot of the hoses are now obsolete but you should be able to get one from someone breaking a car in the breaking section.
  2. And that says to me that the cars are in the hands of enthusiasts. If it were simply a cheap throwaway car then most people would scrap it if it needed work at this age and value. But you SORNed it to fix at a time the future. Not that any of this means the value of them will rise, but simply that in many cases they appear to be in the hands of people that care.
  3. It's hard to tell why the Corrado has fared better in percentage terms than those cars. Maybe it's because they were built better or because their relatively poor sales meant they were always slightly more rare and so were less likely to fall into the hands of careless drivers looking for a cheap car. It could simply be that the use of the VW parts bin for the underpinnings many that parts were really available cheaply during its earlier years (not now) or that they were more sturdily built. I think what is most telling though is the SORN pattern. It's not only steadily increasing but shows a clear seasonal step. The Fiat is showing this too but it is more pronounced with the Corrado. That is likely to be showing that more and more of them are falling into enthusiasts hands as second cars and being stored over winter rather than simply left to rot somewhere. I think the step rather than a linear pattern is important and interesting to watch over the next few years. Edit: The Calibra and Probe are all but doomed over the next few years it looks.
  4. Yours seems more accurate as mine excludes SORN.
  5. Howmanyleft get their data from the department of transport. So it is thousands rather than hundreds but it is dropping each year.
  6. Around 2,300 according to this. Ignore the storm figure as it's inaccurate as most were not marked as storm on the log book. http://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/?utf8=%E2%9C%93&q=corrado
  7. Yes it is. When I had to take mine off to do the aux belt the rubber band pinged somewhere never to be found again :D
  8. It's dead easy. Even I managed to do it and I've not died in a fireball and headlong crash into a tree... yet.
  9. Welcome. That's quite a project you have there but at least you have some past glory pics to aim for :)
  10. Most people say buy on condition and not color. I've taken a look at the pics and the green does seem a better bet. All fixable of course but your point about the green one being better condition is valid. I fell in love with the grey though :)
  11. Just phoned my brother and you're right of course. It seems his was an Oettinger conversion from new (also 16v but single cam he seems to recall). It wasn't running right when he got it so he later converted it to a Golf 16v engine). He also modified the gearing. This was back in the late 80s or early 90s I think so a fairly quick car for its time. I do remember him pulling the engine out and leaving it in the garden and my parents nagging him to get rid of it). I loved that car and got a scirocco GTX as a result and that is one of the reasons I have a Corrado today.
  12. I believe that the mk2 Storm was 16v and RHD ( my brother had one).
  13. Ouch. Could have been worse so glad it's not too bad.
  14. I also emailed them (in Google translate German) and got the same answer... Leather.
  15. They are held onto the door with bolts. Can't remember whether they are accessible from outside or inside the car though.
  16. £315 delivered? Sounds bargaintastic so I shall have to have it :). While the chains have been done on mine, they didn't do the valve stem seals so I'll grab this and then get it swapped over at some point when funds allow. It might even trigger a bottom end rebuild as well :) I'll drop you a pm.
  17. I'd be in for a group buy. Happy to try to arrange one although it's better if a German speaker could do it.
  18. From the Vege sale by any chance? Very interested and will probably take if delivery isn't crippling and it fits. But first... do you know what actual difference does the port for the secondary air injection make (1994 coilpack here)?
  19. Depends on whether the previous owner was using really thick oil I guess as that would be less likely to get forced through.
  20. I've just tried to email them. It's all a bit hit and miss but hopfully the words plastic and leather translate ok on google :)
