  1. Do you mean dipped lights or side lights? The green light on the headlight switch should work as follows... Switch off - green light off Switch to side light position - green light on Switch to main beam position - green light off again (regardless whether dipped or full) I can't comment on which wires should be live but the lights taking a while to get brighter isn't right and I would suspect a badd connection or faulty wire somewhere. Check the connections and wiring behind the switch and also around the headlights themselves. Is the car fitted with an uprated headlight wiring loom? Cheap ones can be problematic. Alternatively if one isn't installed then consider kurzys uprated loom which should bypass a faulty connection and dramatically improve the brightness. I'm pretty sure that dipped and full beam come on together.
  2. Thread revival! I thought it was time for a quick update due to the kind words offered before... well I survived the redundancy round in January and things were looking good as far as career prospects were concerned; I had become my managers deputy and was the natural successor. He was/is a truely fantastic guy and I loved working with everyone around me. But I wasn't happy and I couldn't really explain why to them. I sat down with my boss and told him I how I was feeling and he genuinely tried to change things for me. But as the most experienced person there, everyone always fell back on me for help and if I'm completely honest it's just in my nature to take on more and more work. If it's there, then I will do it. I'm not sure if it's a strength or a weakness. So a few months ago I accepted an offer from a company that I'd previously worked for. Just before leaving I asked for voluntary redundancy but unfortunately it was declined. So after some consideration I decided to resign anyway and started there a couple of weeks ago. In recent years I have very much been of the mindset that taking a chance is always better than living a safe but unrewarding life - "take the red pill". You get one shot at life so make the most of it. My new job is a smaller role than I had previously and in career terms it's probably going backwards around 8 years. Several friends and colleagues can't understand why I would do it. But so far the working hours are significantly less and the money is actually better (I told the new company what I would leave for and to my surprise they called my bluff). I have worked for this company before, albeit in a different area, and I think that helped as I was a known quantity to them. It's early days and I am under no illusions that it won't get busier. In fact I'm a little bored right now. After years of working furious hours it seems odd to be able to walk out of the office at a sensible time and go home to see my family with little expectation of getting called at home by Singapore at 4am. It will also take a little adjustment to get used to working for people with less experience than myself. That probably doesn't come across very well but what I mean is that some things that seem obvious to me don't to some others, and I don't want to be too rude in vocalising it - but bringing my experience to the table and being able to improve the area is the reason I was offered the role. So things are looking up on the job front unless I find it too boring. If I do, then I'll change it again. But perhaps that's exactly what I need for a few years - to step away from the extreme pressure and then start building again.
  3. I do that. If I ever see an old car near where I'm going, whether it's a Corrado, old Golf or even another marque from a similar era, then I'll make a point of parking close to it. It's part of the joy of owning a modern classic :)
  4. Third in line please... doubt that will happen though :(
  5. Sad indeed. But should make it even more fun when you put it back on the road next year :)
  6. I'm losing track over who has bought, who has sold, who has returned, who has been greedy and bought more than one, and who has sold again???
  7. Welcome back. 5k is top end money nowadays so yes well get a stunner.
  8. I believe this decision has met with forum approval :thumbleft:
  9. I've voted for most dates. Can't make 7th or 8th sept though due to my son's birthday and also taking my daughter to a concert on the Sunday.
  10. Lovely dog. Included in sale?
  11. I can make week days but it would have to be after 8pm at the absolute earliest. Otherwise a Saturday is best for me. The Bear? Hell if it's in Esher I'll walk** so I can drink :) Although I think we should probably stick with Fay's suggestion as its a little more central for some people. ** Might actually get a cab if my ankle isn't fixed by then
  12. Ahhhh MOT time. This week I realised the Golf was due and had to book it in urgently. My wife needed it the next day and the MOT had actually expired. It failed on a wing mirror light being faulty. I wasn't there and had little option but to authorised them to fix it on the spot.......... at almost £90 just for fixing a light (£20 part, £70 labour!). The Corrado is more reliable and cheaper to fix than that!
  13. I watched this a couple of days ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. I agree on the sentiments that engineering should be regarded higher in this country. I work in IT for banks and the signs are very worrying on the decline of the financial industry in this country. So while people decry the bankers be careful what you wish for unless there is something else to replace it. It is a huge shame that none of the Hagee British car makers managed to survive. What's the largest UK car company now? Caterham? The euro was massively beneficial to Germany, as was the post war regeneration.
  14. Unopened gear knob. Boxed and unused single solitude alloy (long story why I have only one). Rear silver VR6 badge. Leather inner door handles.
  15. Welcome back. Looks lovely :)
  16. Yes, correct. It's a drain plug for the filter itself. Yes an allen key.
  17. Well I did pop up there in the end and took the kids with me for an evening drive. It was good fun and we had a surprisingly good Corrado turnout. Met up with Fay and managed to park a couple of spots down from her. Also saw your car Jamie and also a yellow corrado (type unknown) and a dark valver... so 5 of us in a relatively small location. There were a few idiot drivers when leaving but I guess that's to be expected with a lot of young drivers in fast cars meeting up. But was nice to see such a wide variety of cars owned by enthusiasts in a small place. The burger king staff looked rushed off their feet though! As for the ankle, I manged to fall over and hurt it badly earlier in the day. Popped up to the walk in clinic and its probably just a very bad strain rather than a fracture. But it's hard to walk on and black and blue. Great timing for the first day of a new job today :)
