BMC CDA Mounting Bracket - Polished Stainless Steel
VWVW replied to daves16v's topic in Suppliers Forum
Hi Dave...Please put me down for one. Thanks. -
Anyone got a pic of the 24v sump on their VR. Is this suppose to be a better upgrade from standard sump ? If you install the 24v sump on a vr6 can you still rely on the dipstick to give you correct oil levels ?

Never seen a modern rocco wheel on a corrrado before but it looks good. Looks like the design of the spokes on the rocco wheel is designed to draw air into the brake disks like the mclaren SLR Also like the mk2 rocco pic on your first post looks very retro with them wheels too.

Cant believe your selling up...Looks like a very nice example ready to be enjoyed with all the DG work done. -
When I did mine I just drained from the bottom radiator house. The coolant drain plug is on the crack pipe. I did not attempt to drain from here because you could damage the plastic pipe in the process if not careful. ***Does anyone know also how often a coolant change should be carried out ?

Just to update... Managed to get the oil and filter changed today. Not the best of days to do it in as it started to snow mid way but got their in the end. Never done it myself before but did some background reading from here beforehand and it all went smoothly without problems. Got the Synta Silver at TPS one day as I was near one during my travels. They were on special promotions 2 weeks ago apparently. 10 litres for £22.78 all in which I thought was a Bargain.

Not sure 100 percent sure why a battery would leak. Maybe overcharging by the alternator if it does happen again with a new battery installed. Could be just an old battery wear and tear and just need replacing. The battery absorbing matts are yellow from Halfords in the battery section.
-
Nice work there...Is it worth getting some Battery Acid Absorbing Mat. I have seen them in Halfords before.
-
Glad you got all the bolts sorted Gotta take some pics to show us..I know they are only bolts but I am sure we like to see shinny new bits or is it just me...:) Would be great if you could give us a definative list for future refernce.

Although I still like my corrado I ve been looking into Cateram recently myself if I was going to get a replacement car.
-
At least take them out of the box so that you can use them as ornament displays in the meantime :)
-
I ve had this problem on my old Mk3 golf before. The way to remove the locking wheel nut was to hammer in a smaller size socket around the nut and hope that would be tight enough to allow you turn the old locking wheel nut out.

Try using a pin on the holes and see if thats any better first.

Sorry to hear about your windscreen. There was a posting about this not long ago where you call this particular windscreen fitter and they will call your insurance on your behalf. Its all about getting the right people to fit it and these fitters were highly praised. I will see if I can find the post. Found the post all the info you need. Good luck. http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?79081-GENUINE-VW-SEKURIT-WINDSCREEN-NOW-OBSOLETE-advice-needed-!-Bugger!!&highlight=genuine+windscreen

I think it keeps the radiator re-aligned to its original position after slight vibration movement.
-
Looks quality...liking the adjustable slots...Its another list of things Ive added to buy off Dave16V at some point :)
-
I recently added a cassette holder to mine aswell. Just as far as when you are happy with it. se pic of mine fitted post number 82. Hope that helps http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?48846-VWVW-Still-Enjoying-the-VR/page9&highlight=vwvw

Is this oil suitable for a corrado vr6. Mobil Super 2000 X1 10W/40 Oil 5L. Its retailing at halfords for £22.39 special rate. you can get another 1 litre bottle for £10. Dont do many miles on my VR last year think I only managed 2500 miles. I was going to buy synta silver 10w 40 from the dealers today but they only do it in a 5 litre bottle (£30) and the VR needs 5.5 litres so would have to buy 2x bottle (£60) thanks

from memory the rivet pins you have to buy separately.
-
Cheers for the link. I prefer going back to normal wheel bolts than going for locking wheel bolt. A second hand set will probably be the best as VW wants 3.50+Vat for each bolt.
-
Just wondered anyone got an old set of 4 good condition ones off a VR6 that they can sell me.
-
In my opinion daylight running LED on modern cars are far brighter than the corrado fog lights.

Was travelling home on the M40 two days ago whilst the gritter was in the middle lane spreading Salt on the Motorway. Just seen today in the light the type of damage it has caused to my radiator. Some of the stones they mixed in with the salts are huge and I can still see them below the radiator. There was no way of avoiding the gritter as he was in the middle lane. I bet loads of other cars had this sort of damage on the same night. See pic. Mine will be worst off as its like an open grill on the BM. The BM is a company car but still. Its an ugly sight with the radiator peppered like that.

How long have you had your wipers are they due for a change and are they the bosch genuine ones. I am still on standard wiper setup and dont have wiper clearing issues. Maybe just a case of getting some new wipers blades. Iam sure the bosh wipers were cheaper from the main VW dealers than from places like halfords.

I am thinking off getting rid off my locking wheel nuts as its looking past their sell by date ie showing rust and the condition of them looks bad and aslo I cant fit nut covers over them. However I dont have the standard alloy wheel nuts any more to replace the locking wheel nuts with so my question is Are the wheel nuts on the corrado Vr6 similar to the other variant of the Corrado or even the same as some models of VW or do I need specific corrado VR6 ones. thanks
