  1. Ive only gone n fixed it . Bit of a mix up over the plastic part [left n right ] and it goes in upside down , not to mention the manual looks like its telling you to fit in the lock first .We took off Robs door card and it all became clear , well some of it . Anyway its done now .
  2. Hi Roger, I looked into this a while back . It's around £150 to get it as good as new . Have a look online , there are a few companies that do this . I presume as it's nearly worn through , the furniture clinic paint is not an option .
  3. Although mine is colour coded , being an early VR , it is stuck on as I had the holes filled . If the raw plug type pegs were left in and the badge was stuck on would water be able to trickle in ?
  4. I looked into doing this a while back . I sourced a company to make them and found a company who does brushed chrome . Here lies the problem it's very expensive ! If they were block chrome it's no problem and not that expensive . Brush chroming machines are very few and far between now and only a select few have them in their place of work . It also becomes more expensive to have the tabs on the rear of the badge to fix them to the car . From the impression I got when the thread went up , a stick on badge was a no no .
  5. Goldies thread has just reminded me of this . Did you manage to find this Chris ? Rob
  6. I picked up a batch of these from TPS a while back . Iirc mine are black though .
  7. Fair play to you mate . Wages just don't stretch far enough do they .
  8. They are obviously different from the oem , but once they are fitted they do look smart , another part to refresh the bay .
  9. It's worth what someone wants to pay , at the end of the day . These cars are fast becoming a modern classic , in my opinion they have been at rock bottom for a long time . Prices are on the rise , for the better ones . And quite right to . As Hammond said a good few years back , it's a bit if a mongrel , but VW knew what they were doing , ok that was about the VR , but even so the corrado is a fantastic car .
  10. Half cut at 5.50 pm ? Living the dream Sean lol . I only bought new ones as I had the spare dough, at the time . As Sean said they don't do much , nothing wrong in trimming the old rubber off and treating the plastic to bring it up as new .
  11. They fitted fine Jim , no problem at all as far as I'm aware . Rob is going to remove a doorcard tomorrow to have a look for me . Something is deffinately a miss with mine , nothing seems to line up . I can put the rods onto the plastic part and see how it should go . But when you offer it inside the door , it does not want to sit right . If you hold the door pin rod up right , where it should be the plastic part is at a stupid angle , there's no way the door latch prong is going to go in . Like wise , hold the plastic part straight so it lines up with the latch and the door pin rod is thrown off line . Very confused .in a way I hope that it's not me and something is wrong . If someone comes along and fits it in 5 minutes I'm going to feel very stupid !
  12. Thanks Jeff , I will put your info to use , when trying again . Swift I will remove the handle , but the latch does fit straight on with it in place . I was speaking to Rob tonight who has Matt8v old car . He had chrome latches and wanted oem ones , he swopped these over without removing the exterior handle . Not that saying your wrong of course , I'm grateful for your help .
  13. Hi swift , you are talking about the interior handle (pull) arnt you ?
  14. If anyone has a car that has the door cards off at present , could i ask you to spare a few minuets and have a look at how these parts fit together . Im at a total loss now . By the look of the diagram it shows the plastic part should go on to the prong on the latch and be inserted into the hole in the door ?. If i do this it wont go all the way in and the metal prong will not move easily. So ive tried the other way , but how an earth you are supposed to attach it i will never know . Also when i offer up the plastic part with the top rod in place it seems to be too tight against the door , i have two spare rods , when you put them together you can see that they are different , obviously left and right .Non of these seem to be right . Now i consider myself to be of average brightness , i certainly have alot of common sense ,i have removed a lot of parts on this car and replaced them on my own , but people on here are putting in engines in by themselves and im stuck on how to fit two pins and a door latch for gawd sake !!!,i do like problem solving and working out why something does not work weather its at work , home or whatever . You would not want to see a fellow enthusiast in a padded room rocking to and fro would you , im sure this poxy thing is going to send me there . Ok bit over the top ,but it is driving me round the bend . Any help would be much appreciated .edit , any more help I should say Rob
  15. Many thanks to Leon 263 for the door latch . Speedy delivery too . Rob
  16. That's the new look Rog , now you down with the kids man , hang a belt buckle off of it , sorted .
  17. Failing that am i right in saying its near the headlight on the inside of the wing and under the carpet in front of the handbrake .
  18. I doubt if its the starter motor , as you will usually only get a click if its stuck . Try wiggling the key as you try to start the car , this usually points to the ignition switch . If you use the search there are many threads on starting problems ,one of them will hold the answer to your fault .
  19. Could be at either end of the filter Jim , this happened to me . If it was at the pump end the car would be stinking inside . Maybe worth checking inside the boot to be sure though .
  20. Well done so far Rog , keep up the perseverance , you will get there . That's rich coming from me struggling with to rods and a bit of plastic lol .
