  1. The right up for it is good . And it won't break the bank ! . I was given some floor sound deadening usually for house use , I could not believe how heavy it was , I couldn't use it really . The stuff I've just bought is light weight , I'm sure it will be fine .
  2. Ive just purchased some from car insulation uk . Good right up and cheap.
  3. Evening chaps . I'm considering using two layers of carpet underlay for lining the areas behind the pedals , up and over the tunnel and passenger side . I already have the proper underlay for the front and rear foot wells . Would this be ok ? I'm not sure about gluing it straight to the floor pan without a barrier . Any thoughts ? . I'm worried it may condensate . Kind regards Rob
  4. Maybe the sealant I used has been effected on the metal and has broken down Rog ? .
  5. LOL Darren , i do have a cover but if i put it on i will never find the leaks . I know the photos are not great it was dark , but by pulling the seal back towards you , where it meets the black plastic on the inside of the boot you can see the water sitting in between the two . If i could take the day off tomorrow i would . I worry about these things so much .
  6. If it was me Chris , i would start at the ECU and work my way to the plugs . also checking any other elecrical plugs . It makes sense that if there is no immobiliser then the problem is somewhere between the above .
  7. Well with all the sound deadening out of the car ,bar some higher stuff that is up by the pedals and a bit behind the plastic part that runs along the tunnel towards the bowden cables , i have been inspecting the car in the mornings and evenings and they has been condensation on the floor . I felt the remaining deadening and it felt dry apart from the bit along the tunnel , so i have now removed it all apart from where it goes right up behind the dash on the passenger side . Hopefully it will be dry tomorrow . It must have been wet since i had the membrane leak , even though i had a dehumidifier in there for ages . I have two bin liners covering the bottom of the screen onto the bonnet to stop the leaves getting under it , so i cant see any water getting into the foliage panel . However to be sure i have newspaper under it in the cabin which will show any tell tale drips . Both foot wells are covered in talcum powder to reveal anything as well . I also checked the boot and noticed where the seal runs along the bottom and sits next to the boot plastic , its soaked !.The lights are as tight as can be , so i presume the spoiler is leaking again . Things are not looking good at the moment !. I had already removed the spoiler and sealed around the plastic part that houses the captive nuts . What are the chances of removing them again without it breaking , i was lucky last time . If theres one thing that really bugs me ,its when you take time to do something and make sure its ok , only for it to go wrong again . So now the rear of the car is going to have to be stripped too . BUGGER!. I think the spare room is going to be over flowing with new parts and old parts i need to remove . My heated seat loom arrived this week from Vaghag Chris , so there is some good news .
  8. Hopefully Darren . Be nice to meet up again and see some new faces . The VR won't be in any show and shine events though ! .
  9. Great work Darren . I reckon I will be at the same stage as you in around a year from now . Lol .
  10. Nice one Dox . Thank you , that's more like the thickness I need .
  11. Thanks Jim and Dox . I believe the oem stuff is no longer available . So I will have to find something to bulk up the gap . The new stuff is just a pad , so I suppose you fit this and glue some decent underlay to it ? . Other wise the carpet will have a void and not fit correctly .
  12. As title chaps . Ive removed my carpets and deadening as its had it . Ive bought the delux underlay for the footwells front and rear . But ive noticed the bits that fit next to the hump and under the pedals and round the back under the heater motor ect have also had it ,they have soaked up the water from a leak . . I ve looked at Heritage and there are a few types , but none are like the original set . Has anybody made their own ? or used something else . Some of the items are not cheap either . Any advice would be great . Rob
  13. Congrats on your purchase . The poor old girl needs a good scrub now .
  14. Thanks . It's not a bad job to do . Just make sure there is plenty of grease on the cogs . You should be able to swop the cables over ok . It's the cables on the floor which can be a pain , but they will already be in place .
  15. It gets worse lol!. My problem is , as with many of us, we are so busy with work and stuff , when i do go on the forum or work on the car its in a snatched moment so to speak . So sometimes im looking and my brain has not engaged . Ive bought parts from Lilfuzzer and Vaghag in the past and called them both chris. Now i went on the forum the other day and purchased a loom from Vaghag . So when i saw this post i didnt look at the forum name VAGSTUFF ,in my brain i saw Vaghag , i had called him Chris when replying to a pm about the loom , which is why i said '' i hope you dont mind me calling you Chris , when your name is Robert . Confused ? me too . Hopefully this has cleared it up . Ive had a couple of beers today watching the London derby . Hopefully ive made no mistakes this time . Kind regards Rob
  16. So today i removed the interior , well the front anyway . As said in my last posts ,i have new underlay to go down and a heated seat loom on the way so the carpets are out . The seats are in dire need of refurbing , the bolster has sunk on the drivers side . I have a working heater control set to fit as well as my directional control has broken . So i have a few hours work there . The drivers seat has been put back in so i can still drive the car . This to me is important as im not fond of removing the battery over the winter period and putting it on trickle charge and the car not moving .It needs to be driven . On removing the carpet , i accidently ripped it !!!!. I was carefully removing it from where it is stuck to the rear carpet and it tore a hole in it . So i think a new one will be ordered from Heritage .Not something i wanted to have to buy but accidents happen . The rear mat will hide the rip but i know it will niggle me . I know ive had membrane problems in the past but when i removed the nasty old sound deadening it was sweating or condensating under there . I have managed to track down a front and rear crossmember and subframe . Ive decided to refurb the rear underside first , which i have all the parts for . Then work my way to the front later on as an when i can afford to powder coat parts . A few pics from today .
  17. Ive been replying to Vagstuff , calling him Chris . I dont know why i get the two of you confused ?. lol.
  18. I now have an email from Andy for the size of the badge . so i will be contacting some printers online as soon as i can next week . A massive thanks to Andy .A few beer tokens mate ? .
  19. you don't mind me calling you Chris do you Robert ? Lol .
  20. Bummer ! . Give it another five years and we will be scratching around like Audi Quattro owners .
  21. It would be great if we could get nice new fogs . I've just fitted my new indicators , the fogs look awful compared to them .
  22. Deffinately worth checking the connections to the relay and or , replacing it . Could be a cheap fix for you .
