  1. Will try remember to grab a picture tomorrow as I've just put it all back together and locked up the garage for the evening. But honestly it looks brand new. As far as I understand it's basically completely new guts in the existing casing - all the coil / wiring inside looks brand new, shot blasted / re-painted casing, new electronics on the back of the alternator, and all new bolts / fixings. Honestly looks completely brand new.

    New Wheel Bolts??

What wheels are they? If they're solitudes as per your picture, I run a set of the black plastic wheel nut covers which help cover up any rusty crummy wheel bolts :)
  3. Think they'll do mail order (I noticed a bunch of eBay invoices on their desk, meaning I assume they do sell their services on eBay) which is why I mentioned them :)
  4. My alternator decided to give up the ghost last week. Faced with another gigantic bill for a replacement one from VW I decided to seek out alternatives and knew that Tempest had good success with SAC in Coventry getting a few alternators rebuilt. I've just picked it up today and assuming it actually works correctly, I couldn't fault any aspect of their service. If they have the parts on the shelf, they do a same day turn around (!) on a rebuild. I dropped it off Friday lunch time and got a call mid afternoon to say they couldn't do it same day as they were waiting on some parts. No problem there - was good to get an update. Got a call this morning though to say it was all sorted so just been to pick it up. * Looks absolutely brand new - media blasted casing, all new bolts / fixings on everything. * Regular phone calls to keep me up to date, and guy was always friendly and polite on the phone (counts for a lot!) * 12 month warranty! * Cost under £100... Really well worth a look if your alternator packs up! Their website is here: http://www.sacweb.co.uk/ (I'm not getting some kind of kickback for this - I just like to recommend companies that give me good service!) :)
  5. Not cheap at all! :(
  6. I'm due to pick these up today from the post office :) I'll be sorting out the final details and PM'ing people in the next week or so hopefully.
  7. His work is very well regarded but he's extremely popular in the VW scene so think you need to book in way in advance.. worth asking though.
  8. Think it'd be in the Scirocco class - as he was the only entrant! He was told by the show and shine folks he was allowed to vote for himself so I guess he won by default :)
  9. May be worth getting Stealth to ask the chaps at Greg Howell's body shop - he should certainly know someone decent?

    Oh dear!!!

Why are these awful kit cars always advertised as head turners. Yes, they are - but probably not for the reasons the owners think! Yeuchh!!

    Oil leak...

If it's dripping from the front bumper I'd say it's a higher chance of being your power steering system that's leaking?
  12. Glorious. I went to a car show in Germany a few weeks back and it was huge - and PACKED with 50's-80's Mercs. It was incredible. It's given me even more of an appreciation for them than I already had - there was some stunning cars there. So this sort of purchase would well and truly get the full thumbs up from me :)
  13. The part number is the same - I think the point of the X is to signify it's exchange.
  14. Well, I might be reading it wrong, or my parts catalogue might be out of date. No harm in asking VW though once you've taken the other one back to ECP.
  15. According to my parts catalogue it should be about £200 if you exchange the old unit...?
  16. Have you turned the steering lock to lock with the wheels off the ground? You need to do it a good few times to work the air out of the system. If it does continue to make noise then it affirms that these Q drive ones are useless because mine is still making noise weeks after being fitted and we were thinking it must be something else wrong with the system, but maybe it is just the pump being ****e.
  17. Ditto! Will be getting em on the car in the next week or two hopefully.
  18. Hi - you're welcome to list your car for sale on the forum, but please post it in the correct place. Thanks.
  19. I think it's the SLC. And I do have to say, detail wise, I'm sure it's the original model they did for whichever edition of Forza it first showed up in as certain details remain the same.
  20. Be careful... I was so close to keeping this one. It was a cracking drive :) Has made me really want a proper sorted one some day. Keep us posted on the //M! Is it an M5 then?
  21. Cheers James - been a crazy few weeks. Haven't even posted about the BMW that came and left my possession (on the back of a low loader this morning) over the space of a month!
  22. Actually I'm swigging back a nice 'Urban Red' from a local craft brewery here in Coventry called Byatts. They make some good beers :)
  23. I lit some josticks and muttered a few incantations.. and Andi is looking into it :)
