No, not just you - been very intermittently slow for the last day or two for me now.. I'll try summon the admin to look into it :)

The Corrado's been in since, I think, Forza 3 :) Really liking the MK1 Scirocco though - think that's new for Forza 5? :)

Whats is and where to buy the right coolant sensor for 9a 93 2.016v ?
Jim replied to borders16v's topic in Engine Bay
Dealer should be able to find this information easily, but most are too lazy. Could you elaborate on which sensor it is, and where it's located on the block and I'll try remember to look on the parts catalogue for you later. Just sticking the VW part number into Google turns up a whole bunch of results so it seems to be a legit part number. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=026906161&rct=j -
If indeed it is the stalks, you'll need to get them new from VW or off a breaker.

Have you got an aftermarket uprated headlight loom fitted?

Jim replied to Ray1965's topic in Event Announcements & Discussion
Worth mentioning it's GTI International this weekend mate so you may not get strong numbers! -
Welcome! Look forward to seeing some piccies! :)

New member (of this forum) just bought my first Corrado!
Jim replied to Chaz!'s topic in Newbies Hangout
Welcome! Enjoy doing the heater matrix - PITA job on the Corrado requiring the dashboard to come out! :( -
Glad you finally got it sold Jake!
-
The Corrado community is so incestuous sometimes ;) Glad it's gone to another enthusiast!
-
Ouch. That's painful to see :( But as you say, can be sorted! Hope they do a good job with it, given the rarity of that colour! :)
-
It certainly isn't something I've seen much on the forum, I have to say.
-
That sounds about right - pretty sure he's had that for a few years now!
-
It's bonnie even when the weather is pants :) But it's hard to beat on a nice day :) Love it up there!

I was chatting with someone fairly recently who said that Lee does indeed still own A20 LEE but think it's basically been locked away in a garage and not touched since it dropped out of the show scene some years ago!

Exhaust seems OK mate - after years of leaky exhausts on my 16v, my ears are pretty tuned into exhaust leaks but can't hear anything amiss on my VR!

Good question. It popped up on eBay (or was it Pistonheads?) last year sometime I think, looking exactly how it did after Guy sold it. It's like the new owner bought it, drove it home, garaged it, and then took it out again 5 years later to sell it. Be interested to know if anyone on here bought it as that was always my dream Corrado when I was new to the club and the Corrado scene generally.. a Storm, on awesome BBS wheels, and an absolute fortune in tasty mods.

Top tip Steve - thank you! Will order from there, rather than ECP then as it'll come out much cheaper. Though I'm now a little more less convinced it's the MAF. I took the car out this evening and prior to starting it up, pulled the MAF and it started at quite high revs (around 1200) and I could hear that same occasional pop / misfire once every couple of seconds. I reconnected the MAF and the revs came down a little but otherwise seemed the same. I decided enough of nannying the car tonight and did take it for a bit of a thrash without really wringing it's neck and it drove great - the engine pulls extremely well at all revs.. low down and higher up, though I never really took it past 5000RPM. Sounded lovely on song too - had forgotten just how good the VR6 sounds. There's definitely something not 100% and sure it's electrical rather than anything more sinister. It's just this noticeable, very slight misfire at idle, and also I find at lower revs and part throttle when driving at say 30MPH it feels a bit like.. not comfortable.. very slightly hesitant and a touch jumpy.. like it wants you to either be on the throttle or off the throttle and part throttle seems difficult for the car somehow? And lastly.. idle.. seems to take a LONG time to settle down to the lower VR6 idle speed of 650RPM.. it won't do it until the car is fully warmed up, and instead runs on a faster idle. And then when it has settled down to the correct idle, despite the revs being locked solid where they should be there's quite a lot of vibration into the cabin - like it 'feels' like the engine is misfiring a bit and you can feel it kicking through into the cabin. Will be interesting to stick the loan coil pack on and see if that improves how it feels. It does have this vague whiff of coil pack about it. Sorry for rambling on - just now having done the engine work, I'm on a bit of a crusade (or should that be folly!!) to sort out all the gremlins on the old girl and get her ship shape :)

Usual crap with ECP - ring up the branch as showing none in stock online. "We can get one for you tomorrow no problem. That'll be £140 please." "But it's £84 + surcharge on the website?" "Yeah, it probably will be!" "Forget it - I'll order it and get it delivered. Thanks." Why do companies do that sort of crap!
-
That's very kind but I think for the price and given it seems that my MAF does seem to be misbehaving based on discussion in here already, it might be worth me picking one up - would be a useful spare anyway given how they do always fail eventually! Cheers tho :) If they were getting into the £200+ price range I'd be taking you up on that offer but
-
That's excellent info - thanks! And the price for the MAF is not too horrifying at all.
-
I guess never look the (very rare) Volkswagen gift horse in the mouth ;) Not sure how accurate VAG-CAT's pricing is but it reckons 181 euro for a VR6 MAF... hmm...
-
Hm - might be best speaking to VW then. Will find the part number tomorrow and swing in for a quote.
-
OK - nevermind, thanks Darren! So - seems like from my basic description the MAF is goosed then. Maybe have to take a punt on a new one. Seem to see Bosch ones on eBay for about £100? I can stomach that I think..?
-
Question for you though Kev on the MAF.. I tried disconnecting mine the other night, with the engine running - seemed to immediately sound smoother. If I left it disconnected and plugged it back in, the engine would dip in revs and misfire a little and then continue to run but not sound quite as sweet as it did with it disconnected. Is that normal for disconnecting / reconnecting the MAF? And I do indeed have a plastic MAF as you say :)
