I'd stick with genuine VAG HT leads personally.

Corrado bit starts at 30:10 :)
-
Let me put it this way - you can easily lift the carbon Corrado bonnet with your little finger. Try that with your normal one :)
-
Good news - thanks Matt :)

If we could get these 3D scanned somehow, we could probably get them sent to one of these companies that 3D print them... an ideal part to replicate using that technology.

I think that always happens on a rolling road because the ABS system gets confused as the rear wheels aren't moving even though the front ones are :) Nice to see a Corrado on the TV but was hoping for a little more about the car.. they could have done the feature with a Ford Fiesta!

Discovery - Sky subscribers only :(
-
Not sure mate - synopsis for tonight on Radio Times says: Jason Plato tries to bring a tired engine back to full health, and Jonny Smith is in Spain, where he tests the Jaguar F-Type. The Corrado was used specifically for this kind of feature, so I reckon it's the one!

One of the (few) joys of being single I guess. No argument for control of the TV! Sniff :(
-
I think it's tonights episode for the Corrado! :) Sky+ is set!!

In fairness to the Crossfire, I didn't appreciate that the SRT6 version of it was an AMG supercharged 3.2 V6... putting out a fairly astonishing 350BHP and over 400NM of torque. I have to agree that the Crossfire isn't a great looker, but that engine would more than make up for that!
-
Was a good little day out - thanks for the lift, Eric! Enjoyed chatting to the more enthusiastic / interesting fellow with the Crossfire, and also the Land Rover experience - was staggered at how effortlessly it chewed that assault course up!

I have a feeling I may have seen that on the roads before - it's up near where my parents live. Looks desperate to be saved, with all the tat glued to it ceremoniously burned and it just given a good going over. Poor thing :( The fear is just what butchery has happened to the wiring loom - I can see what looks like a push button starter in place of the cigarette lighter.. who knows what delights are waiting for any unsuspecting would-be-saviour!

Honestly it depends on what you're trying to achieve. The charger doesn't need making more reliable - in it's factory configuration - just keep the lubrication system in good shape, get it inspected / rebuilt when needed, and you won't go far wrong. Honestly I've just seen so many G60 projects on this forum over the years where people have tried to go big power - and they almost universally end up being broken for parts as the car just doesn't deliver in the way the owner wanted. As the power goes up the reliability is sacrificed. My old G60 was lightly modified - a Golf G60 intercooler, a 68mm pulley and an SNS chip as well as a Magnex exhaust. Standard airbox too. It consistently made 207BHP on multiple rolling roads and was a great car - incredibly reliable too. Those modifications will yield good solid performance improvements, and won't break the bank. If I had another G60 I wanted to give a bit more sparkle too, I'd take the exact same route with modifications. If I wanted more power, I'd ditch the G60 and get a VR6 and go down the forced induction route.

Without spending a lot of money, there aren't many other ways to increase power on the G60 without going down the chip and pulley route. I'd strongly advise staying away from these aftermarket filters.. it was repeatedly discussed amongst a lot of VW tuners that the original airbox and paper filter provides the finest filtration for the G-Lader - cone filters, etc just aren't good enough at filtering out the grit and crap which can shorten the life of your charger.
-
Certainly based on my experiences at countless rolling road days over the years, the VR is a consistent performer and always puts out near to it's originally quoted performance figures unless there's something actually wrong with it - like a duff Cam Position Sensor. I don't entirely subscribe to the Top Gear mantra that old engine = lost a load of horsepower.
-
I think still a lot of people don't realise that the Corrado got a slightly different engine to the one in the MK3 Golf, and tend to quote MK3 Golf figures. It is only 12BHP but.. it all counts I guess.

Have some bits left over from a PC upgrade for sale.. offering them here before the dreaded eBay! Firstly have a 120GB OCZ Agility III SSD. Bought about a year ago. Absolutely flies and has an estimate 10 years of lifespan left according to SSDLife. Supplied as just the bare drive and I'll chuck in a SATA cable if I find one - £50. Secondly - a Palit GeForce GTX560 "OC Edition" graphics card with 1GB RAM. Pretty far from being a current card, but still very quick - able to play games like Battlefield 3 on pretty much maximum settings even in high resolutions. Comes boxed - £50. Both items were pulled from a fully working system, and are only being replaced because of an upgrade. I can get pictures of either item if required!

Assuming you have standard alloys, I can only give a huge thumbs up to Uniroyal Rainsport 2's.. my favourite all season tyres, bar none.

I'd still go to a specialist, rather than a VW dealer. If in the future you come to sell the car, surely any prospective buyer would understand that a specialist stamp from someone who actually knows these cars would mean more than a stamp from some random VW dealership.

Wow - good luck with your adventure! Lovely, classic car :) If you need some advice, try PM'ing DEL VR6 on here - he's a former Corrado owner (or may well still have it I don't know) and also has a Karmann Ghia :)
