Mysterious, substantial, improvement in radio signal..?
Jim replied to Jim's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
Hm - will have to hunt it out. Presumably you can get 6 Music on DAB too.. maybe time to invest in a DAB head unit for the Corrado. -
Utter idiocy :( Just shows what you're up against out on the roads.

I tend to lean towards electronica, dance type stuff most of the time. But am just picky. I hate having to listen to stuff I don't like on the chance that stuff I do like might come on.. would rather just put my own music on, or listen to talk radio :) -

No radio stations play my kind of music, so I settle for being informed about world affairs and politics ;) -
Well I'm gonna have a go with this tappets swap as it's not a mega amount of money and to be honest it'd be peace of mind for them to take the cams out anyway just in case anything else is amiss round there - and then just see how it goes.

I wondered that, however we didn't really touch anything round the back of the engine - only right at the very front. Certainly is a baffler :) -
Here's one to puzzle over. My Corrado has always had rubbish radio signal - a common problem I know. I listen to Radio 4 most of the time (let the mocking begin) and always struggled getting a good signal no matter where I was. I recently had the Corrado disconnected from it's battery and had the whole front end off for over a week whilst I put in a new radiator. Got the car all back together last week and since then my radio has suddenly become like an NSA listening post - I can tune in to a thousand local stations I never even realised existed, and all the national stations come in as sharp as I've ever heard. What on earth happened? I'm sure it's nothing to do with JUST the battery disconnection - I've had the car off the battery many times in the years I've owned it. Any thoughts?!

Mates get first dibs? ;)

Wonder wtf causes it... there's obviously a reason why it happens, and why it had gone away, but has returned on your car. It just blows my mind that with hundreds of similar subjects on the various VW forums regarding noisy VR's, no-one has ever gotten to the bottom of it!!
-
Interesting. And disappointing as I'm booked in to have this job done on my car in a few weeks time - I thought this was all put to bed. Maybe it is a 263 cams related thing?

Corrado-passenger-side-headlight - £100 starting..........
Jim replied to Dox's topic in Ebay and Misc
Brand new and boxed though. They can't have cost much less than this from VW assuming they were still available? -
It was many years ago, but the chap was subsequently selling them on eBay - I just looked and they don't seem to be available any more :( Their website seems to be here though so maybe worth dropping them an email? http://www.lmplastic.co.uk/

Never heard that quote before, Jake - it's fantastic :)

My old (first) valver is on SORN apparently :(

No. The standard car is designed to operate even in high temperatures and not overheat. There is absolutely no need for an oil cooler unless you plan to track it often, or drive it across Death Valley :) Just ensure you replace worn cooling components with quality parts, not the cheapest you can find, and you should have no issues.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess. I think they look fantastic!

I'd say I firmly believe that, given the billions of galaxies out there, all of which we'll never see in our lives, it would be insane to think that the conditions that fostered life on earth couldn't exist on one or many other planets out there. So yep.. I believe there is / would be life on other planets. As for whether we'll see them, or they'll ever visit earth... I mean there are compelling arguments and stories that say it has happened already.

This has come up before on here, and I'm sure someone posted a solution.. off to Google I guess! :) *edit* Here you got. A typically comprehensive reply from the great, late, Chris Gaskell :( http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?t=77862

Fantastic :) Would love to take the Corrado up to Skye one year. Have been up fairly far into Scotland now several times, including once in the Corrado and it's AWESOME - I implore anyone who has thought about it, or daydreamed about it, to give it a go. The scenery once you get north of Glasgow is just fantastic and the roads are often very quiet. First time I took the A82 up to Fort William I could barely keep my eyes on the road - I just wanted to gorp out of the window the entire way.

The nature of forums sadly.. seems to happen a lot on technical / computing related forums!

Weird! Appreciate the update though - threads often go silent once the original problem is fixed, as the original poster never comes back to update it once it's sorted! Cheers!

Message received loud and clear on pictures. With the Classic Car Show coming up in November, which I had planned to write about (as it's a full weekend at the show for me) I'll make a real effort on the picture front. Cheers.

That hurts a bit but.. again, fair point on the lack of pictures. I guess it's worth mentioning that I attempted to step out of the role at a couple of AGM's now, suggesting I was happy to stay on and cover the role until someone else volunteered. The problem is no-one has ever volunteered at all, in all the years I've been doing the magazine. So we're at the point where I step down, and the club has no magazine. We could outsource production of the magazine to a 3rd party - as I'm currently doing all of the design work and assembling the magazine where it simply just has to be printed but if no-one is writing articles to put in it, what would they be able to produce?
