Jesus H!! That is unbelievable that no-one was killed.
-
LOL. No, that was last time you were there mate... hahaha..

The pickup truck is... interesting. Not sure it would have ever sold in any quantities but it must be kinda neat to have a utility version of a car you love :)
-
Rather brave on these roads - that front splitter isn't going to last long with the ride height that low! :)
-
It looked like a Corrado mate! ;) I didn't nose around the other cars too much beyond noticing they were all Storms in there - was chatting to Jon & Vince whilst they were working on my car so..
-
Where does the time ago! :) I have seen the unicorn G60 and even saw it moving last time I was up at Supercharged's place - albeit about 100ft!

Funnily enough I was there on Saturday and Vince said to me he had a chap coming in with a Corrado and a Rotrex charger - and immediately thought it must be you. The bizarre thing that means ANOTHER Storm in the workshop! When I was there on Saturday there were four Corrado's in there, ALL were Storms (3 Mystic Blue, 1 Classic Green) and you've only added to that now making it 5 Storms. Never seen that before!! :) There are a few VW dealers in the area - Listers VW in Banbury, Listers VW in Coventry and I think Spirit in Leamington Spa - might be worth ringing around. You never know - they might just have one on the shelf?

I have a Bosch Silver 62AH I think which was £65 from CostCo and comes with a 5 year warranty. Never has any issues cranking the VR even after a few weeks left standing.

Poor show.

Tuesday night is looking a tad doubtful for me I'm afraid to say now after all... partly because of other plans, but partly also because of sheer car related expense over the last few days which is going some way to annihilating my budgeting for the coming month and we're not even into it yet :( If no more folks show any interest and it's just us regulars, I may have to pass. Sorry :(

Foot on the clutch?! What a complete pillock!! Wonder what car it was?
-
Not just engine power sadly but other factors - like how often the Corrado used to be stolen back in the day (all the time!!) which has made them disproportionately expensive to insure :(
-
Nope? Just standard stuff. The Skoda brakes are already pretty huge (312's I think) - no need for any bigger tbh!

Just got back from a long day of driving around, the first stop of which was to collect the wheels from City Powder Coating. Honestly I'm really pleased with the job they've done. The wheels look excellent and whilst the colour they've used seems a smidge darker and less 'sparkly' (if that makes sense) than the standard VW silver, the finish is excellent with absolutely no signs of any damage anywhere. And for £120 including removal and remounting of tyres and rebalancing of wheels I'm blown away. It's a rare thing these days to feel you get value for money on many things but this is such an example. Will use them again!

At this point it's fair to say that no-one can possibly own a Corrado for the possibility of making any sort of money or, to be honest, even breaking even on any outlay they spend.. speaking from my own experience of spending about £4,000 on the car, sinking a good £1,500 on maintenance over the last couple of years, and now being in a position where the car needs a complete respray and some engine TLC and is probably barely worth £1,500 I'm long since past trying to rationalise it. But the Corrado for me is part of my life and transcends rational thought in terms of justifying keeping it. I'll spend what needs spending to keep this great car on the road for as long as I can afford to.

Spoke to them on the phone this morning and they say they'll be ready for me to collect later today so popping up tomorrow morning. Coincidentally I'm taking the car to Stealth afterwards for some new front brakes, so I reckon I'll get Stealth to stick them on the car whilst I'm there.. assuming this snow / slush had cleared!! I'll report back on what they look like!

What a horror show - and bloody good work so far... keep it up and keep the pictures coming.. find these sorts of threads hugely motivating! :)

Welcome to the forum - the Scirocco looks great! Few thoughts.... Firstly worth mentioning that VR6's didn't all get leather interiors. It was an option on all models.. the only model that got it as standard was the VR6 Storm! They normally have a cloth interior. In terms of VR6's being more hassle than they're worth - having owned quite a few Corrado's I've not personally found my VR to be any more demanding on my wallet than the 16v or G60 models I previously owned. And I'd say another compelling reason for considering one is that if you already have a 16v engine in the Rocco you might find the heavier Corrado with the same engine a bit gutless - at least the VR6 or a G60 would be something different and would perform relatively to the weight of the car it was embodied in (if that makes sense). Hope that's a b it of food for thought :)

I'm sure that Kris wrote a pretty comprehensive guide on how to do it. *edit* Here it is: http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?45452-Replacing-the-heater-matrix-non-canada-style-max-pics I've helped do two heater matrixes in the last couple of years. It's not especially difficult but just takes a lot of time.

A few folks on here used to swear by the Poorboys bumper / trim gel... never used any of that sort of stuff myself but I remember it being popular a few years back :)

Bet your neighbours thought you were crazy!! :)

I'm pretty sure Classic Parts in Germany still have some of these for sale. Always loved these on the Corrado! In terms of members cars... there must only be two or three on here that I've seen. They were not a popular option it seems for some reason!
