  1. I'm not quite so sure there's a need for this.. I don't think we see a greater proportion of alloy wheels over any other part specifically..?
  2. Nooo... should have gone directly with VW Classic Parts in Germany... Heritage stick a premium on top :(
  3. I'm not sure.. I've certainly seen plenty of coilpack VR6's running them successfully.. not sure if special tweaks have been required to get them there though!
  4. Bouncing revs on my old 2.0 16v were caused for me by a duff ISV..
  5. I did see the box to this in HMV and thought it looked terrible!! :)
  6. On the plus side, with lots of people getting these cams, should have good numbers for a rolling road day at the end of the year or early next :)
  7. We used to have static for sale posts, and the forum at large decided it preferred For Sale threads to be open and where such discussions could take place. As far as I'm concerned this can all stay.. you guys wanted threads to be open, and this is what happens :)
  8. Fabia VRS is an excellent shout.... get one of those and stick a Shark Performance remap on it... it'd probably annhilate your Corrado in a straight line whilst still getting 40MPG :)
  9. Can you find a MK4 Golf Anniversary for that kind of money? Always liked those...
  10. I wouldn't waste the money you make from selling the Corrado, on the Golf... ditch both, buy something newer / more modern but with the TDI and move onwards and upwards. You will miss the Corrado but if you have something a bit more modern and reliable, but still VAG and still moddable, you'll not miss it too much :) I'm looking forward to driving my VR6 again but I can't honestly say I've missed it that much since getting the Octavia VRS.... you might find the same if you get something fun, perhaps with the PD150 or better diesel engine? It'll be a shame if you sell though Jake.. all the time and money you've put into that! Be a shame to see you go.
  11. Not at all.. you're entitled to your viewpoint of course :) I do want to buy one and would like to get one some day - not only for the fact that it helps make the VR6 even better but just because it's a nice rare piece of OE equipment.. and there isn't much of that for the VR6 beyond what was fitted at the factory :) If I wasn't saving up for a respray, I would have had it!
  12. Yeah - the VSR is rarer and definitely worth the extra over a Schrick. For a start you can leave it in place when you change the spark plugs...
  13. I've said it many times before regarding Kips car, but this is my feeling on things. I don't get the concourse thing and I probably never will.. to me I'm happy with maintaining a car to a good standard and actually driving it and enjoying it. BUT. I am really pleased there are people out there with your level of dedication to these cars, keeping some in this condition.. hell, even the VW Museum doesn't keep it's cars to this standard. Well done :)
  14. Hi mate - sorry just saw your reply to me on a previous page. My original advisory was just for one brake line but if one needs doing I reckon I'll just get them all changed so they're done.. so would be after a full set. I'm hoping to get my MOT booked for Saturday 14th so will know by then! :) Cheers.
  15. As I say, I've never been and have no idea of the layout of Silverstone - I just didn't want to risk upselling something I don't know anything about :) Anyway - afraid DriverVR6 the ticket has now gone to a friend of mine so... :( I'll close this thread.
  16. At the very least I'd use Febi ones, but preferably new ones from VW.
  17. Yes you still need topmounts!
  18. Can you get over the brand image of the Skoda Octavia? I just got an Octavia VRS Estate and it's absolutely fantastic - I'm thrilled to bits with it. You could probably get a new or nearly new one for your budget!
  19. Ok - sure thing :) Just a useful link for you in case you decide to go.. just found out about this after reading that it costs £60+ to park at Silverstone on race day - I booked a parking space with this lot: http://www.silverstoneschoolsparking.co.uk/ It'd certainly help us out if you took the ticket so... look forward to hearing back either way :) Cheers.
  20. I'm a rookie with F1 and Silverstone specifically but my understanding is it basically means there is no hospitality package, nor is there entrance to any of the main grandstands at the main corners.. you have to just watch from less decent vantage points.
  21. I have a spare ticket for the F1 at Silverstone on Sunday (race day) for this coming weekend. It's normal / general admission only. I can either post it to you, or meet you there as I'll be going. It's only come up spare as it was for my dad but unfortunately because of some health problems can't come along now :( We only want back what it cost us which I believe is in the region of £145. Thanks.
  22. It's certainly a grey area.. I'd probably try some uprated bulbs first and maybe get the reflectors refurbished and see how you get on? We always talked on here about getting some done with these guys but it never went anywhere... http://www.dual-metallising.co.uk/reflectors.html Cheers.
