  1. Give Footman James a call... if you think you'll be no more than 4,000 miles a year you should be in with a good shout :)
  2. Values for MK2's seem to be only going one way these days - up! Looks nice and unmolested so might not be a bad buy! The only thing I was told is that despite being great handling cars and so forth, the interior does seem REALLY basic even compared to the Corrado!
  3. Italy were just the better team. The fact we held Italy to a draw is consolation enough for me, and it could have gone either way during penalties. To be honest Germany would have annihilated us anyway so it's good we went out at this stage!
  4. Problem is, it's a vicious circle. For me as a Corrado enthusiast there is very little reason to attend shows like Inters any more. In terms of display cars there's nothing that I haven't seen at several thousand VW shows over the years (and it's usually just chequebook cars anyway.. so zero interest) and the number of trade stands has dwindled - and those that remain don't sell stuff I want to buy. Several years ago you used to get companies like GPC (excellent to buy all your Corrado trim bits, etc), you could buy your oil & filters at good prices, etc etc. These days it's ECU remapping companies (yawn), endless stands just selling t-shirts and festival hats, and a few stands selling shiny bits like lights and strutbraces for just about everything other than the Corrado. The boat has sailed on generic VW shows for me a long time ago, Inters included. I'd much rather be going to classic car meets and stuff, to see something new and different, talk to real enthusiasts, and learn about how to preserve our ageing cars rather than where to buy shiny tat.
  5. Just didn't seem to be much enthusiasm for Inters this year sadly! :(
  6. Sh!t :| That's terrible. This is an absolute disaster for Inters :| I hope no one was killed :(
  7. Going from Wasdale mate :) To be clear, I'm not doing the climbing at all.. I'm just driving, preparing hot drinks and stuff for when the guys get back to the car :)
  8. Blimey. Spend a grand on this sorting the rust and a few gremlins and you've got a great Corrado in one of the best colours.. Good luck with the sale!
  9. Could just be a worn auxillary belt? I used to get similar weirdness, when putting full lock on my steering on my 16v when the aux belt tension was slack and just needed tightening up. Will also come and go depending on the weather conditions sometimes (moist air / dry air). On a day when it squeels on full lock just spray a tiny bit of WD40 onto the belt and see if the noise changes / goes away... if it does then time for a new belt or check that the belt tensioner is giving the correct tension!
  10. Ah! Another VRS owner.. we're starting to breed! I just got one a month ago and I'm loving it! You go for the petrol or diesel?
  11. Sorry to hear it has to go mate - real shame. It's exceptionally clean though and very well looked after.. and as you say you've spent plenty of time and money on it since buying it. Corrado prices are pretty dire at the moment though so who knows. I guess I'd be going for £5,000 and seeing how it panned out. If you got the right buyer at the right time...
  12. Will have to put you on standby for some pipes - my MOT is coming up and like Jon, mine were an advisory last year. I suspect the damp garage my car lives in won't have helped! Will let you know as soon as I know whether I need any :)
  13. Tim - do you do "classic" insurance policies whereby No Claims Bonus is neither used, or earned during the policy? I've had this with other insurers and it's meant I can just keep my main No Claims Bonus applied to my main / daily car. Cheers.
  14. Kev - which grade of the Silkolene Pro S did you use? 10w40 or 10w50?
  15. Doh! Thanks for the spot Gareth. Maybe concentrate efforts on the obsolete / hard to get stuff now then Jim Southan? :)
  16. Yep - I use the silver too. It was swapped to Gold at a service not too long ago and it didn't seem to suit the engine as well - used oil far more quickly, and seemed a heck of a lot "noisier" - back to silver and sounds a lot happier :)
  17. Yep - 100% will take a VW front roundel please.
  18. Glad to hear another G60 owner relented and decided to buy a VR6! ;) So is this the turbo one you've sold then Oz? Sorry to hear you parted with it but really glad for Jaded2882 - what a machine he's bought!!
  19. That looks super. My VW roundel is in good shape but I think I'd have one to put away if you want to arrange a group buy mate? :)
  20. Got to try and get the original finish on the rear Corrado badge.. the brushed chrome effect rather than the totally shiny chrome type. If they can do that, they'd get a lot of interest I think! :)
  21. I did own / drive a Fiat 500 for a 10 months.. I think the problem is that (for example) Mr Selfish Audi Q7 driver, who will arrogantly barge past at any opportunity, is incapable of appreciating how a 1.2 litre 70BHP engine actually performs, and I can only assume thinks you're trying to hold them up whilst driving even though you have your foot to the floor. Hence it's not long before the red mist descends and they have to overtake you as quickly as possible and/or cut you up and let you know how much you've ruined their day. Regarding the Corrado, I used to get a lot more "interest" than I do these days.. lots of challenges to race and so forth. No-one really gives it a second glance these days!
