They've been training pretty hard and have already been on training runs up all of them, and done very well.. I think they're gonna make it :)

Hi all... At the end of June, two friends of mine are doing the National Three Peaks Challenge. For those that don't know it, the challenge is to summit Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowden in a 24 hour period including doing all driving between the three venues. I'm posting about this because I've volunteered to be the driver / support guy :) Volkswagen Press Office have rather fantastically agreed to loan us a Scirocco TDI for the event, and we've subsequently setup a "Just Giving" page at the below address. I'll be writing about my experience in a forthcoming issue of The Sprinter. If anyone is feeling charitable enough to make a donation (which will be going to MacMillan Cancer Support) it'd be greatly appreciated. Thanks all. http://www.justgiving.com/Chris-Wood18

Welcome to the forum! There can't be many one (well.. two now!) owner Corrado's left.. and leather with air conditioning is a nice and uncommon combination. Got any pictures of it? :)
-
I'd call that a big no. People would point and laugh.
-
Sounds good to me Fay :)
-
Nicely done Fay :) Would be very interested to see how yours performs with a Stealth map vs my DG map!
-
Cool.. OK. Cheers :)
-
Yes. It does lose a little bit of it's characterful deep bellowing noise which is a shame.. but the increase in performance more than makes up for it.
-
Mind if I ask what it's costing you for that level of work? Happy if you want to PM it over or something...

S3 stolen from manchester didsbury 7/6/12 (not mine but keep and eye out)
Jim replied to Jon_vr6's topic in General Car Chat
Dirty thieving pieces of **** :( That's terrible.. and a good reminder why you should keep your front door locked I guess :| -
My Skoda came with Continental Sport Contact 3's fitted all round and I have to say they are something else. Low road noise, and fantastic grip in wet and dry.. not sure if they do them in 205/50/15's but I will certainly be looking when it comes to renewing tyres on the VR!

Well I am pleased to say I popped over to give the Corrado a wash today finally and back under it's car cover. Looked lovely in the sunshine but obviously couldn't drive it anywhere as it's SORN still. Frustrating! :) It has inspired me to get it sorted in terms of paintwork. The interior is in good shape so that can be left alone, the alloys are starting to look a bit scabby (but £80 at City Powder Coaters will sort that) and the engine seems to run well enough despite it's age so I think I can look at getting some paintwork done finally. Going to make a bit of a push with savings over the next few months and see if I can get it done during winter. I had a pretty fair price from the bodyshop guy when I went for a quote before I so I think realistically I could get the paintwork sorted, wheels done and a new windscreen finally from KIPVW's guys up north (only £100 excess with my insurer) for not major money and it'd look absolutely fantastic with that lot done :) Must. Get. It. Done.

Need pics of the car with them on mate.. I was really unsure when I picked them up off you but have to say on that picture alone I've warmed to them considerably. And have to say I can vouch for the fact they looked pretty beaten up when I dropped them off.. if they all look as good, then colour me impressed. Might have to get my VR's Solitudes over there for a going over at that price! Only problem is no spare wheels to sit the car on in the mean time!! :(

Bristol Volksfest 8/9/10th June *UPDATE p8*
Jim replied to CazzaVR's topic in Event Announcements & Discussion
Some good looking cars there fellas - good work :) -
That's superb.. I'd love to see that level of filming / quality with some nice original examples I have to say!
-
I would seriously consider this but do not have a single clue when it comes to doing electrical work :( So sadly that's a major turn off for me! And as I understand it, Stealth aren't keen on doing the OBD2 conversion any more purely because it's very labour intensive and people tend to balk at the price as a result?

It's irrelevant.. I said it last time and I'll say it again, she stated no preference for either the moral or immoral option.. to quote the post: I can't see anything in there either advocating (or disagreeing) about claiming that the wheels were not delivered. It's a simple statement of fact about how the courier company works. People seem to be pointing a lot of fingers about something that wasn't even said, or even implied! Oh, and Butterfly isn't even a Mod here.. she's just a user.
-
Sorry mate, but I think that's pretty poor form questioning Butterfly. Reading back, unless a post has been deleted I don't actually see her advocating the telling of lies, nor do I consider it her position to act as some sort of moral police to advise what forum members should or should not be doing..? I consider Butterfly to be one of the most honest, upstanding people I know so it gets my back up to see people casting aspersions on people they don't even know. For the record I personally would never dream of lying about packages not arriving. I think this should have been dealt with through the proper channels, but that's just my opinion and I don't feel in any position to make a judgement about whether it's right or wrong! And yes, I think the thread should continue! :)

Hello from Poland !!! VW Corrado G60 by DrAkE - fully rebuild project !!!
Jim replied to DrAkE's topic in Members Gallery
Not so sure about carbon wrapping everything (unless of course you actually had everything made in Carbon Fiber in which case wow!!) but I still think the car is fabulous :) -
Used to get this on my G60 too every once in a while... never developed into any bigger problem in the time I owned it! :)
-
That's fine. I'll invest in a Surface to Air Missile installation before you get your pilots license. All joking aside though I'd be interested to know how you got on - in terms of how much it cost for flying lessons, how quickly you progress and so forth. I'd often thought about having some flying lessons just to experience it! :)

key not not startingcar in hot weather...ignition switch?
Jim replied to dubweiser's topic in Engine Bay
Cable ties work fine. You lash them round the front of the ignition housing and then over the back of the ignition switch. I managed to get one on either side no problems and it held the switch in place nice and tight for the years I subsequently owned the car.
