Pleased to report my colleagues completed the challenge successfully within the 24 hours allotted. It was a tough slog for them and a tough drive for me. We're only £95 away from raising £1000 so it'd be really awesome if anyone could donate something. Thanks. Oh - and the Scirocco TDI was a Blue Motion - and it was absolutely SUPERB. I'm now convinced I prefer it to the 2.0 TSI and Scirocco R.

Unless I'm reading your post wrong, I'm slightly surprised that how you might be perceived by other people in a VW compared to an Audi is your only real concern? I personally don't get the why Audi are perceived as being any better than VW or Skoda and so forth.. the ones I've been in don't seem significantly better than their peers - they just cost more. I think the Passat CC looks superb and I'd expect the interior quality to be at least as good as that of the A4. Why not give one a test drive and see what you think?

Enough of us to organise something in the Midlands to make it worth a drive up for Ant?
-
An E39 M5 is up there with "cars I could afford to buy but would bankrupt me to run", which I've ALWAYS wanted to own. pete_griff lets me drive his every time we meet up and it just kills me to give the keys back because I absolutely adore it :)
-
If you're talking a Porsche of some kind then I think I will have to leave the thread before I boil with envy :D To own even a Boxster is my current ambition really! :) I think I could afford to run one if I ditched the Corrado AND a daily and just had it was my one car.. but I think I need to get a house first!! Priorities, etc! :|
-
Awesome. One day... one day... :) At least you can say you owned one :)
-
Crazy. I'd have thought once you got something like a Nissan GTR you've never want to let it go! I really keep debating renting something like one of those or an R8 for a weekend and just "living" with it and seeing what it's like going to the shops and stuff.. I bet you get raced endlessly by chavs in Saxo's and stuff?
-
Ah that's fair enough if you're a bit outdoorsy :) I know having an interest in specific things is just one of those things that not everyone gets.. hell, take a look at us sad Corrado enthusiasts! I just never "got" knives tho
-
I don't get the interest with knives.... what do you use them for besides.. opening boxes? :)
-
They wouldn't insure me I don't think - I don't think they take modifications of any sort :(
-
Why do people do these cryptic thread posts! What do you wonder? Have you bought your old car back again?
-
Be interested in this on my Octavia VRS possibly... :) I was about to ask if it's safe to use on turbo cars but then saw you did it on your Skyline so must be :)
-
It's definitely on it's arse in a big way. I've seen some crazy bargains in the last 6 months or so! We can only hope that it makes some kind of recovery :(
-
I just dropped Vodafone and got a Three SIM through QuidCo... 300 minutes a month, 600 texts, 1GB internet for £10 a month on a 12 month contract - BUT - you got £100 back from quidco.. giving me a years mobile phone contract for 20 quid. Mental :)
-
I insure my Octavia VRS for similar money mate :) As you say.. getting old does have some perks.. eventually..
-
It can take a while for the pump to quieten down.. but as Steve said it does need hand priming first to get fluid moving round the system and you should give it a few mins of lock to lock turning to see if it quietens down. Good possibility you've borked it though :(

Please get prices up ASAP otherwise in accordance with forum rules the thread will get the chop! Cheers. -
Yeah.. I think Stealth Racing really is your best bet!

Welcome to the forum :) Don't know of any folks around Loughborough off the top of my head... What colour is the VR? Is it original? :)

It's hard to say because I don't know just how much you hate your current job. There are always advantages and disadvantages to every situation. Like you say, the downside here being that it's Good luck either way. *edit* Sorry - I misread the post. There are two opportunities. Definitely go for the bakery one if it's a permanent contract. You'll get used to the early starts soon enough and it means you get to go home earlier too - bonus! :)

Crash at GTI International just heard through twitter
Jim replied to Jon_vr6's topic in Event Announcements & Discussion
Apparently he was right at the end of the track so could even have been at over 70MPH depending how powerful the car was.. and knowing how close the track is to the barriers at Inters, bearing in mind reaction time plus surprise and shock at what had just happened I would be surprised if the driver even had time to get on the brakes. -
Yep - the medium Halfords one is an almost perfect fit for the Corrado. Always fold in the mirrors though and remove the aerial!

Anyone going to GTI International?
Jim replied to Portent's topic in Event Announcements & Discussion
Thing is with trade stands.. we all know we can buy stuff cheaper on the internet yes.. but there's certainly a lot to be said for being able to go buy something in person, as an impulse buy, certainly if the trader is within say 10% of an internet price. You go to a show, you have some cash in your wallet, and you see a trader with something you were after - you think to yourself, screw it - I'll just pick it up now. Anywho - hoping to make it to the SR National Day :) I know a few Corrado owners who are hoping to go, so yes, we could end up outnumbering them! :D
