  1. Fantastic to see another one saved, especially looking as far gone as it was. Nicely done!
  2. Yep - that car has indeed been round the ring and lived to tell the tale so the sticker does very much belong there! And I'm thrilled to hear it's working again... lets see it hit 200k :)
  3. It's a real gamble going to the ring. If you come off the road in a spectacular way, you're in for a substantial bill as your insurance will NOT cover you. If they have to close the track for whatever reason, you have to cover their loss of earnings, the cost of getting medical attention to you, cost of recovery of your vehicle and any damage you do to the track. And good luck finding insurance to cover you out there in your own car. I'm lucky enough to have gone round there twice in different cars without incident but now looking back, I do wince at what could have happened and doubt I'd risk it again at least in my own car and without any kind of cover. Better off hiring a car for the track from one of the specialists out there, where you're covered insurance wise and so forth.
  4. I guess there's many potential issues there... as Tom says, are the calipers working properly? When was the brake fluid last changed?

    vr running issues

Hey Alex... Long time no see. Hope you are keeping well mate :)
  6. I'm not doubting you Kip and I am tempted to make enquiries with my insurance company to see if they would replace the screen as is.. but when I made an enquiry on PistonHeads about the very same thing about a year ago, and stated that I thought the screen was very unsafe hence thought I would be entitled to get it replaced, I was ridiculed! They were basically saying you can only get the screen replaced if it's cracked.. and general wear and tear (which is what has happened with mine) is down to me to replace if I so desire. But as I say, I might get onto my insurance company next week to see if they would replace it just because of the general (excessive) wear. Either way, Portent I am interested in the group buy still as I do want to get my screen done regardless of whether I have to pony up for it or not.
  7. Sorry guys but we'd be getting done for insurance fraud if we arrange to get 10 Corrado screens done under insurance which have all mysteriously had a large crack appear in them conveniently in time for a group buy! My screen is stonechipped to hell, and at night is very hard to see through because of loads of pitting and swipe marks ground into the glass from the wipers - but wouldn't be considered damaged enough for replacement under insurance.. so paying for a new screen out of my pocket is the only way! So am quite keen on the idea of a drive up to see these guys and getting a genuine VAG screen put in. I'll tentatively register my interest in this subject to confirmation of price. Put me down as a maybe :)
  8. And Tempest has them in his US imported G60 :)
  9. Heaven knows what happened to all the presses for panels. I mean we can only hope that VW bought all the ones of interest to them (including Corrado ones) and that there might be panels made in the future.. but really I'm not optimistic :(
  10. Good to know about these guys - thanks. Even though they're miles away my VR will need a new screen at some point - it's shagged! Would rather do a 200 mile round trip to get the job done right than go back to cowboys locally!
  11. Holy sheeite! I've never seen anything like that! I know several people at work who "can't afford" or "don't see the point" of getting the oil changed on their cars.. :| I wonder if their engines look like this. Certainly won't be long before one of them seizes I'm sure.. I can't wait for the day it happens!
  12. I've got through the same dilemma in my mind many times. The irony is that VW dealerships quite eagerly sought Scirocco's and Corrado's to stick in dealerships to promote the new Scirocco when it was launched. It's no thanks to VW that many of these cars are on the road with service departments you wouldn't DREAM of taking your car into, and a ever shrinking spares catalogue. VW are so short sighted sometimes! I do think Classic Parts is a step in the right direction though - about bloody time.
  13. Nice work on organising this. The recent thread about certain VR6 hoses going obsolete should mean than Roose will be getting a few orders for their hose kits in the future!
  14. That really is not good news at all... if any of mine pop I think a full set from the group buy will be the only option :( Thanks for the heads up Neil.
  15. So is that engine a factory fit, or is this some transplant that someone has done? I'm intrigued!
  16. LOL. The frantic grabbing for something that's not there is so funny.. but I bet it was terrifying when he was going flat out!!
  17. Great news! (on both that you're making the lines for the forseeable future AND regarding your Storm!) :)
  18. Get a genuine one from VW. You don't want to be having to go back to redo that job in a few years time because you bought a pattern part!
  19. I paid over double that for TPF&T on my first Corrado when I was 21... but then I did still live at home so could just about afford that level of insanity!
  20. A box full of expired medical equipment for £100. I'm surprised it hasn't sold yet!
  21. They had no interest in keeping my business this year, on trying to reinsure my daily driver despite having max no claims, no points and driving a very low insurance group car. Couldn't work it out to be honest. Best thing to do is get ringing around sadly. I managed to save 25% by switching to a competitor (Aviva!)
  22. Presumably you need to have totally drained all fluids before attempting this otherwise they'll just leak out everywhere? Well, certainly oil and fuel...?
  23. Are you planning to keep making these for the forseeable future? My VR is in for MOT in I think July and was advised last time round that the lines were looking a little tired. These brake lines have had very positive feedback by Graham from DG Autotech and were what I was going to buy if I needed to replace mine this year!
