  1. I'd imagine those Wilwoods will be more than enough! :)
  2. Probably worth you switching to 5x100 fitment and going for 288MM or 312MM brakes! Be interested to see progress.. there are several TDI Corrado's on the forum already. Think the Corrado really suits a diesel engine though the lack of soundproofing really becomes apparent! :)

    best engine

My gut feeling is that you're in America... so the only two options available to you are the G60 or the VR6 (SLC) - you really need to drive both to make your minds up. Lots of tuning stuff available for both. IMHO the VR6 beats the G60 in terms of scope for reliable tuning, sound, performance, etc.. but everyone is different :)

    vr6 mpg

Had my all time record in the VR on my drive over to Germany a few months back. Was topped up with a combination of BP Ultimate and Optimax and then did lots of sensible motorway speed driving on the autobahns whilst there. It got to the point where I thought the fuel gauge was on the blink... did approx 340 miles on only 41 litres - normally I'm near empty after 350 miles of admittedly local / town driving.

    So much want

Loving the E34 M5... absolutely glorious!
  6. I suffer from something very similar with my VR6 which is on 189k. Like you, doesn't use much oil, apparently doesn't smoke under load, and pulls like a train. I've been told it's most likely piston slap.. so potentially not a big problem yet! Tis annoying though and does mean I'm super paranoid about not even going over 2k till there is lots of heat in the engine!
  7. And the beauty of not using the car as a daily means when you get back into the car a week or two later, it's still as immaculate and clean smelling as it was when you did it :) Looks great.. and glad to hear you're still full of enthusiasm for the car and hanging onto it! :)
  8. Look like standard MK3 Golf GTI alloys to me (sans sentre caps) - like these, except not painted black obviously :)
  9. Sweet :) Nice work as always. Looking forward to seeing a video of the magic moment...
  10. Looking good on the Speedo's... so when is 'turning the key in the ignition' day? It can't be far away now..?
  11. Spotted a Blackberry VR with a personalised plate heading out of Coventry on the A4114 earlier today - must have been about 2pm. Annoyingly was on my way to pick up the Corrado for a drive, but was in the Fiat so didn't bother to flash / wave! :(
  12. Hmm... might be worth checking what it says in the engine bay, on the sticker on the driver side wing behind the airbox....
  13. Agreed. Pretty sure that's not Blackberry!

    Hella Radiators

VR6 radiators are obsolete from VW anyway now Steve, hence why everyone is having to buy from other sources :(
  15. The Fiat 500 deserves all the good reviews it gets. I'm absolutely chuffed to bits with mine!
  16. I guess it's about trying to strike a middle ground and just live to your means. My car has needed paintwork doing for some time but it just hasn't been financially viable to get it done. However I just had a good quote from a local bodyshop who's premises I've been to see, and the quality of the work I've been able to view.. I'm sure he's not up there with the very best, but I think the work will be quite acceptable for me and a price that's acceptable for me. Hoping to get it booked in over christmas.. I think I've got enough spare time and money to keep the car to an above average standard. It'll never be a show car, but it'll be cared for.. that's as good as I can do for now!
  17. Thanks. List updated :) Nearly 30 runners now.. a good amount!
  18. I think it's fair to say I'll be sorting out another Xbox 360 for this at some point in the not too distant future. I still rue the day I ditched the Xbox and Forza 3 in favour of PS3 and Gran Turismo 5... what a disappointment!
  19. The transition to a more modern, comfortable daily is surprisingly easy.. it really takes the pressure off NEEDING to get the Corrado fixed ASAP when something goes wrong.. and if, like in my case, you're driving a car with nearly 1/4 of the power of the VR, you REALLY enjoy getting back into it and taking it for a thrash :) Do it.
  20. I'm past caring about costs. For me it's one interest / hobby that's been a constant for 12 or so years. I'm putting money into it for me, not for any future values or anything..
  21. Nice idea Jay.. as you say, riveting the thing back in is a total ball ache - this is far more elegant! Though I guess it does mean they could work loose and rattle...?
  22. It's not jelousy.. it's more like frustration. The guy came and bragged to us at the NEC Classic Car show one year about how cheap he gets the cars in quite often, and how he's able to sell them on at a great profit - he also said he had no real interest in the cars and just liked them because he made good money off them. So it's not jelousy.. It's painful to see something you're passionate about being used as a commodity by people who are purely in it for the money.
  23. I thought the oil was quite important to aid filtration...?
