Ordered top mounts and various bolts, etc from AVS earlier today and they've already been dispatched. Great bunch to deal with every time!
-
Where did you get the valve from, Jim?
-
Oooohh.... that'll be it! Yeah I've heard about that non return valve in one of the pipes that goes to the throttle body. I've got Roose pipes fitted. Guess Stealth didn't remember to move it over when they fitted the new pipes.

Aux pump is less than a year old, brand new Bosch item. I can hear the aux pump whirring nice and strongly if I put the ignition on with the bonnet open. And I don't have air conditioning. Again, just wondering really if there's air in the heater matrix. I could do with running the car up to temp with the heaters on full and the expansion tank cap off I guess and see if it improves things.

Weird one.. ever since getting my car rebuilt, every time I put the ignition on for the first time of the car being parked up, I get the sound of water moving behind the dashboard quite loudly somewhere for about 1-2 seconds. I assume this is just within the heater matrix, and that the aux pump is causing it when that comes on - does it just sound like there's an air lock in there somewhere?

Just paid as well. Damian says anyone else wanting a set at this price, he's happy to do it for Corrado Forum members :)

I need to give him a ring before the end of the day!

VR6 Timing Chains/Tensioner replacement quote (Feedback Appreciated)

Went with the Roose clips as well. All of my spring clips were looking rather scabby and tired so thought it was a good opportunity to upgrade them all too. -
Available from VW Heritage - though may be worth confirming they're all open-slat as per the picture! https://www.vwheritage.com/shop/corrado/535853653A/front-grille-late-type-corrado-genuine-vw/?crumbStartPage=1&crumbStartRow=1

I have an assortment of spare VR6 hoses, having just had a Roose kit fitted to mine. Let me know which one you need as you're pretty local to me? -
OK spoken to Damian again this morning - he was expecting that all three sets would be delivered to one location, but has said he's happy to deliver them to individual addresses for a total of £340/set which is still a nice little discount over the listed price. He says just ring up, let him know you're from the Corrado Forum, and he'll sort payment / delivery information with you :)
-
That was not discussed as yet. Will email him and say us three are definitely onboard and ask how we proceed regarding payment and shipping.
-
Damian just confirmed he is happy to offer us a further 5% off the RRP bringing them down to £337.25 :) That is if all three of us commit to buy.
-
I think that would be the only potential stumbling block :( That said, Roose Motorsport were willing to knock a few quid off for a guaranteed couple of orders shipped to different locations, so all we need to do is ask.

Help and advice I'm a dumbarse TSI problems .UPDATE.
Jim replied to robrado974's topic in General Car Chat
I did read on various forums that the oil consumption problem on these earlier 2.0 TFSI engines related specifically to how the engine was run in by the initial owners, though I don't remember the specifics or the explanation as to why. -
We could certainly try. That's 3 sets already.

I would just worry about the heater matrix if it actually fails. Until then just drive / enjoy the car :) (well, after you get it fixed again). However I've said it before, the job whilst daunting initially, isn't actually that bad. I'm not exactly the best with the spanners, but even I managed to swap it out all by myself over a few evenings, without any real drama. It's time consuming but quite straightforward. -

That's not good at all :( -
I've passed on them for now as I felt they lowered the car a smidge more than I was looking for. Cheers.

Interestingly Mad Motors offer the FK Highsport at a similar price too... hmm.... they're meant to be OK as well. Though reading around the opinions for the AP's seems better overall.

Not good at all :( I had an Octavia VRS for about a year with the 2.0 TSI engine and whilst it was great, that thing used to drink oil too - like beyond what I would consider excessive and was told that it was perfectly normal for those engines too. Meanwhile my Fiesta ST doesn't seem to use a drop in the 12 months between services. I think VW's heydey of being this pinnacle of quality and reliability is, sadly, long gone. Anyway - I hope you manage to come up with some kind of plan to get yourself back on your feet as quick as possible. I hate to say it but you could try and offload it through someone like We Buy Any Car? It'd just get shunted off to auction anyway. -
Good work :) the ignition switch is a super common, classic Corrado problem. Can't be many owners who have not had to change one!
-
May join you on ordering a set very soon then. All top mounts available from the most excellent AVS/VW Spares here: http://www.vwspares.co.uk/corrado_suspension.php
-
Where you ordering from Ray, and what price? Thinking of taking the plunge on these myself.
-
The switch itself costs very little (approx 20 quid.. Go and get one from VW dealer rather than a pattern part!) but accessing it to replace it is a royal pain in the butt :(
