    Hub caps...

Apparently the Solitude alloy wheel centre caps are 56mm... so in theory, caps like these should be what you need! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4x-Genuine-BBS-Centre-Caps-Black-with-Silver-BBS-Logo-56mm-09-24-257-/121768216350?hash=item1c59f3871e:g:mOsAAOSw0HVWAuJK
  2. People seem to be expecting a bunch of presenters who've been thrown together, to have the rapport of presenters who've been working together for 13 years. So I think that's a pretty fair assessment!
  3. I honestly thought it wasn't too bad. I can't say I was gripped the whole way through but it seemed OK. LeBlanc seemed pretty good and his allround demeanour was more the type I would prefer to see. Evans - agree that he was just too shouty and enthusiastic. It's not my kind of thing really - hoping he calms down a bit. Think they should have changed the format a bit rather than keeping it very similar. And interested to see how the other presenters do - I'm a huge fan of Chris Harris and can't wait to see his segments, but he looked a bit 'deer in the headlights' on the pieces to camera in the studio, for the little 'Extra Gear' advert. It's early days and I think it's got off to a good start - they just need to settle in and refine it a bit. I will definitely be watching again next week. And can I just say, I'd donate organs in exchange for that Viper ACR. It was flipping sensational.
  4. Was a nice day out, if surprisingly cold! And thanks for offering me your Corrado for the trip Eric - obviously with mine having been off the road since January, it was nice to get behind the wheel of one again :) The meet is great - a real assortment of cars. Porsche's, classic Jags, American Muscle, VW's, motorbikes, etc etc - plenty to see. I'm pretty bored of just 'VW' meets these days - it's really cool to go and see all kinds of marques and models for a bit of variety! And as the day is quite informal in terms of the times when people turn up and leave, the car park is constantly changing throughout the morning. Well worth a visit! Cheers.

    Ebay

Ah sorry I see what you mean now Bill - the promotion was already active, but you hadn't actually been notified of it. That does suck, most definitely, and a pretty dick move on eBay not to give you the points :(

    Ebay

To be fair it's a site wide promotion and not just a targeted thing on you. I read about it earlier this morning. Just very unfortunate timing!

    Culshaw's VR6

It fits into a little hole down the bottom / front of the bumper skin - in the black plastics in the lower air intake grille bit, on the drivers side.
  8. Oh I see :) Yeah you should be on your way by about 6pm at the very latest I'd say, and Telford isn't too far up the road :) The website explicitly says the display areas must be vacated by 6pm and indeed if you need to leave earlier, you are allowed to - you're not prohibited from leaving until a certain time or anything. You can register to display your car here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/coventry-motofest-classic-parking-parade-lap-040616-tickets-21261551874 I'd suggest doing so, and then we could all meet up outside the city centre on the morning and convoy in so we get to park Corrado's together?
  9. Are you looking at attending for the whole day?
  10. It's not like an open circuit thing. The circuit is 'closed' and only open to booked attendees doing demonstrations, historic motorsports cars, etc. The only thing regular attendees like us can do is go on the parade lap at the end of the day - and it's total luck as to whether you end up in enough of a gap in the cars, so that you can open the taps a bit. I got held up in normal traffic going from the static display to the parade lap, so when I got waved onto the circuit, I basically thrapped the pants off the car.. but even then you only get a small section of the ring road to play on. That said it was worth waiting the whole day to do it IMHO :) I did notice that some folks were going round multiple times however. So I wouldn't come expecting to be able to have a little time at the end of the day to thrap the car on the ring road, but there's a good chance that you might :)
  11. The event is on all weekend, but we're hoping to have a club stand for the Saturday.
  12. Great - keep me posted. Just had confirmation from the organisers that Aston Martin are bringing, and running a Vulcan - first running on public roads :) http://www.itv.com/news/central/update/2016-05-25/1-8m-aston-martin-vulcan-to-run-on-public-road-for-the-first-time-in-the-uk-in-coventry/
  13. There is only one colour of headlining in the Corrado :)
  14. Indeed - thanks Bill. Will close this thread off now.
  15. Info on the location is in this thread, and cleaning procedure is in this thread: http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?55219-Damn-factory-immobiliser
  16. Haha :) I don't want to talk down values at all :) It's more the trader I'm talking down, than the car or the Corrado in general ;)
  17. I was just thinking the same. We need to get 8vMatt on the case (he sorted out the replacement headlight switches) :)
  18. Long time no see, Nigel. Yep - used to belong to Chris Gaskell back in the mists of time. After he sadly passed away it changed hands a couple of times, incrementing in cost each time until we end up at the situation where some speculators are trying to sell it for £25,000. It's one of the best Corrado's in the country no doubt about it, but it's a mental price by any measure.
  19. Holy crap!! That's clearly not correct for the car.

    Rattly VR6

Depends how brave you feel. Timing chain replacement on these, for example, is certainly do-able at home but you need to be pretty competent to tackle it. There's a how-to guide on that process here to give you some idea: http://wiki.the-corrado.net/vr6_clutch_and_timing_chains_replacement_part_1.html http://wiki.the-corrado.net/vr6_clutch_and_timing_chains_replacement_part_2.html Harrier said it could be worn out bottom end bearings - these are definitely relatively easy to do at home, but the question would be what caused them to wear. Honestly before throwing money into it I would take it over to an expert for their opinion and formulate a strategy based on what they say. You can't really fully inspect the timing chains without getting to the point of stripping everything down anyway (as the bottom tensioner is buried out of sight).

    Rattly VR6

I think we all assumed it was yours and that it had suddenly become a bit poorly. It's certainly a bit of a gamble but I'm always pretty happy to hear someone is taking on a project and saving another one from potentially being scrapped! You're not very far from Stealth Racing in Southam. There's not many folks who know VR6 engines as well as them. I don't think they'd be able to get out to you, but assuming the car is driveable you could book it in for a check over with them? Or get it trailered there. In the meantime may be worth picking up a cheap stethoscope from somewhere like eBay or Amazon and having a listen around with the engine revved up to see if you can localise where the noise is coming from? If you had to say, would you say it originates more from one side or the other?
  22. Good stuff dude! I love it when a plan comes together.
  23. The standard ride height can be pretty comical - just check out the old Top Gear video on YouTube, about taking the last Storm back to the VW museum in Wolfsburg - it looks like a Golf Country rolling around sometimes! --> (skip to about 1:38 for a side on shot - the rear wheel arch gap is HUGE) You could consider a set of slightly lowered springs but I do know that 'stock' dampers, designed for OE springs, often don't cope with lowering and can prematurely wear or fail.
