What's the price please?

I think you could quite reasonably argue that it's their problem. They've designed a kit for a car, without taking into account there are variances of model years. So I think it really is on them to supply alternative / correct springs to compensate for it, definitely (which, thankfully, they seem to be doing without too much fuss).

Always appreciate it when people come back and post an update / solution to a problem! Cheers.

Ever feel like owning a Corrado is like have a disease?
Jim replied to EJ Taylor's topic in General Car Chat
It certainly can feel like an illness, EJ. It's like you don't want the car any more, but you can think of reasons why you need to keep it - and whilst it's in your ownership you feel obliged to spend money and time on it. If it's any consolation I am sure there are owners of other marques who suffer from the same insanity, and that it's not just Corrado owners :) At the end of the day, you're still young - can you chalk this up to experience, and vow never to make the same mistake again. I know once I'm done with the Corrado, there won't be another "tinkering" car, or even a car as old as this. Or.. it if is, it'll be something where the money I throw into it actually helps towards the value, like an actual appreciating classic. Seriously I spent 4k on buying my car 6 years ago, and have now spent in the region of 10-12k in the last few years - and I'd be amazed if it sold for 2k today. Money. Pit. -
Are you sure? I'm more than happy to cover the postage up front at least, and then can pay you once I confirm it's in good order? :)

Ah! Remind me how much you were after Dave - will take it off your hands.

Trying to get to the bottom of auxiliary side noises on my car and I think it's the PAS pump making the din. There seems to be a little movement if I pull / push the pulley suggesting it's on the way out so probably accounts for the noise. Having had bad experiences with 'Q Drive' and similar from EuroCarParts in the past, not going to waste my time with one of them. Found a place that rebuilds them which I may well try, but in the mean time if anyone has a good one they're willing to part with, please let me know. Thanks.

Ever feel like owning a Corrado is like have a disease?
Jim replied to EJ Taylor's topic in General Car Chat
For what it's worth I'm stuck in a similar situation with mine. Coming to the crashing realisation it'll never be the car I want it to be, and am pretty close to just getting shot of it.. but it's problematic for various reasons. Not worth very much, and only 500 miles into a 3,000 mile engine running in process - can't just get shot of it only for the new owner to want to rag it around a bit thus completely invalidating any warranty they might have with Stealth in the event something bad happens to the engine. So at the very least I need to keep it for a year, and run it in before I get rid of it :( But in the mean time just splashed out on new suspension, and there's a multitude of other little gremlins I want to try and resolve. I find it hard to 'enjoy' it with the problems I'm aware of, but don't want to spend money any more on it... ARGGGHH... -

Ah OK. Then yeah, it could still be the heater matrix that's gone. The heater matrix acts like a radiator in that it's always in-line and getting hot coolant through it so. All that happens when you set the heater to cold is that a flap is moved into place to block air from passing through it, and only allowing cool air directly through from the fan motor. Then when you want heat, the flap is opened and you get air passing through the matrix, which heats the air. Best thing to double check is to remove the under shelf on the glove box and have a feel around the underside of the heater box (large black plastic in the centre at the rear of the dashboard) and see if you can feel coolant there.
-
How do you mean it's disconnected? Is the heater matrix itself completely bypassed in the engine bay?
-
These engines are notoriously tricky to fault find, compared to the slightly simpler 1.8 KR version. Have you replaced the fuel filter?
-
Put out a South Yorkshire SOS - sure someone would be willing to come pitch in! :) Alternatively I don't think changing suspension is especially labour intensive on a Corrado so it wouldn't be a bank busting amount at a garage to get it done.

Just go to VW. Whilst trim pieces and stuff are a real nightmare in terms of availability, things like nuts and bolts generally seem to remain very widely available so you should be able to get everything. But as Jim said, certainly the bigger bolts can be surprisingly expensive for what they are so your bill could well add up!

Ditto :) Hoping to get them on the car over the next couple of weeks sometime, subject to getting some help from Tempest :)

Are drilled/grooved discs worth having? Peformance pads? Braided hose?
Jim replied to MZpog's topic in Drivetrain
They don't seem too bad to be honest - hard to say as I use the car so infrequently. I've certainly had much worse fitted for dust (e.g. Tarox pads). -

I've had OE discs and pads (288mm though) on my VR since I bought it 6 years ago. Not only do they still have lots of meat on them, the braking is always superb and never suffered from any obvious fade or warped discs or any of that nonsense. Always worth going OE. -
Are you running a silicon hose set as well mate?
-
That's much appreciated - cheers.
