Please have a search. Water getting into the cabin has been discussed so many times over the years, and can usually be traced one of only a few regular culprits. -
I highly suggest you try using the search as people have been asking about the correct spark plugs on VR6's on a regular basis ever since the inception of this forum! :) But I think a well regarded and indeed the OEM plug is the NGK BKR5EKU which are not too expensive and easy to source. Plug wires wise, I'd probably go with these: http://www.vwspares.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=646

Was just in the stealers the other day ordering some bits and pieces and they had a 7R estate outside on the lot in a nice metallic grey... really looks bloody superb. But I dread to think of the price.

Ah man. Only just seen this most recent turn of events - you put so much bloody work into that rebuild. I'm really sorry to hear about this :( Keep us posted - really curious to know what's happened :( What were the circumstances leading up to the incident and what was the noise that was occurring?

I guess you need to take a look at the market - what's out there, and how your car would compare if you fixed all the issues vs as it stands now. Then get some prices for the work you need to do. Should be pretty easy to decide if it's worth tarting it up, or just letting it go "as is" :) -

I believe the US bootlid is a different shape, with a cutout to accomodate the central brake light unfortunately :(

It really does feel like a total lottery taking your Corrado out any place where the general public are as most people don't give two ****s about their own cars let alone other people's. My bumpers on my Corrado are covered in countless scrapes and gashes... Not one of them done by me. Just come back to the car to find it like that. It's absolutely soul crushing sometimes.

Worth picking up a compression tester I guess so you can confirm whether it may be the HG. Hopefully it's not, and the problem just lies elsewhere. I do also have the guide that g0ldf1ng3r is referring to - I'll forward it to you over email now mate.

Yep. Seems to be. Mine was doing exactly the same for a few days before I began to notice what had happened and began to smell coolant in the cabin. You're going to need to consider getting the heater box out of the car too for a refurb as the foam on the flaps is going to be toast now.

Coolant into the footwell is pretty much dead cert the heater matrix. Pull off the shelf under the glove box and have a feel around the underside of the heater box - if you get some coolant on your fingers, it's bad news. Have you had bits of foam blasting at you from the heater when you switch it on lately...?

Have you checked out the HT leads Kip? I used to get something similar on my G60 that progressively got worse - running on three cylinders for 10 minutes or so when cold - pulled the leads off and one just fell apart with a load of copper corrosion pouring out. No idea how it ever worked!
