Ebay VR6 in Woolwich, SE London – Has it been clocked?
Jim replied to culshaw's topic in Ebay and Misc
Notice the dates - it is 4 years worth of usage. If they'd been putting 10k a year on the car then 40k's worth isn't an insignificant amount! -
Maybe dude - depends on some football results as I may be down to Wembley that day for the FA Trophy final.

Seems pretty fishy to me. -
Chris - if you want to get a more motorsport style finish on your steering wheel, I have heard nothing but great things about these guys and prices are supposed to be fairly reasonable. http://royalsteeringwheels.com Cheers.

Heavy rainfall: soaking wet rear passenger footwell.

Underneath that plastic cover on the passenger side, in the engine bay, is a common weak point. A plastic cover which is the intake for the cabin heater motor. Problem is it's sealed to the body with nothing more than a soft foam gasket and over time this can go brittle and crack. You can still buy that gasket from VW for a few quid and it only takes 5 minutes to swap it - so could well be the source of your leaks. -
What does the coolant temperature sit at when you're doing a set speed on the motorway? VW engineered their temperature gauges on cars in the era after the Corrado to ignore slight temperature fluctuations and sit locked on at 90, because of the amount of queries from customers about the temperature being over 90! So don't use them as an example of where your coolant temperature needle should sit - it certainly will move up and down the gauge depending on the weather, driving speed, etc.

The guy who penned the article had, at the time of writing the article, been driving for a grand total of 7 years and had owned a total three cars. I've had my license over twice as long and had about 3x as many cars, and I still wouldn't consider myself 'experienced' really, so by any measure, he's still a beginner. My one experience of needing to stop extremely suddenly in a car (which didn't have ABS) nearly ended in a big accident as it was slightly damp. Guy pulled out in front of me, my only reaction was to stand on the brakes, and of course the wheels locked up. I think he hoofed it enough to get away without being hit Personally I think it's an excellent safety feature, the benefits of which have been demonstrated numerous times. Sure the Corrado ABS system is fairly primative and does come unstuck in conditions like snow.. but how often are you driving in snow? Or mud? Ultimately it's your car - do what you want. But if you drive it on public roads at all, I think it'd be a mistake to disable it.

Crazy mileage. Amazed there are some out there with that on the clock turning up.

Volkswagen Synta 10w40 should be just the job for you.

BREMBO retrofit on the Corrado, anyone done this? What ones fit?
Jim replied to EJ Taylor's topic in Drivetrain
Didn't someone just post up about a HiSpec 4 pot caliper and rotor kit only being like £500 the other day? You'd need to add pads onto that, and probably hoses but still a great price. -
I'd be surprised given the nature of the problem, but they're cheap enough parts to replace so worth a go.

I was going to say, I wondered if it was a bearing shell. On the plus side, if that's all it is, then it's not the end of the world :)
-
Have to agree with Dox unfortunately.
-
Certainly interesting that it beat it's estimate as well :)
-
Just out of curiosity, has it ever had the clutch or timing chains replaced?

Or missing grommets for the Corrado or VW roundels on the rear...? -
I remember a time when eBay wasn't full of morons... it's such a shame! Hope you do manage to get this sold eventually!

Don't think VAGCOM will give you much useful information on a 2.0 16v, p0llwrath :(

I have to say the forum search isn't the best, but you may yield better results by searching the site via Google... if you enter in the Google box something like: site:the-corrado.net water leak footwell You should get far more accurate / helpful results than you'll get from the built-in search function :)
