  1. You know it just keeps on getting better and better doesn't it. I go into town with some friends for lunch & a beer for a few hours - had then planned to go to a mates for a BBQ. Come back to the car at 3pm to dicover than when I press the unlock button on the keyfob nothing happens.. odd.. I then press the lock button and the car sounds like the doors are locking. I cringe at the fact that it seems like I never locked my car before going into town... I then get closer to the car and see that the driver seat is forward - something I never do (always put the seats back) and then realise something isnt right.. then some friends point out the huge whole, and loose lock barrel on my driver side door. I can't tell you how pissed off I am.. really really pissed off. Not least cause I cant actually lock the door from the outside with the keyfob now as the locks unlock themselves again. Seriously considering de-locking the doors now when I take it in to get fixed :( What I dont get is nothing was stolen.. can only assume the thieves got disturbed. Still hope to see you at the AGM tomorrow...
  2. Not so keen.. I like the Corrado as Karmann intended to be honest with you. A few subtle mods are fine (de badged grille, eyebrow, lowered) but body kits just don't do it for me.
  3. Weird.. I kinda figured it was for that but didn't wanna say it in case I was wrong. Well theres the answer to that one! :)

Absolutely mate.. I still think the old style grille (and the Corrado itself) still looks superb!!

    My Car

Yeah... to be honest, I think it looks superb the way it is... Though i'd possibly be tempted by the 3 slat grille from the later model C's, but I guess that might give the game away.
  6. Pfft.. I had to sacrifice my Corrado for the sake of being able to go to stuff like this so you can bog off :D :) ;)

    My Car

Wow.. quite a bit of work on it, and it only looks just ever so slightly non-standard. RC's would look very cool though...
  8. Nooo! You gotta go whilst the good weather is here! I wanna see that mean G60 of yours kick some butt :)

Very nice mate! I just love the old shape Corrado & BBS wheel combo - even more so when lowered. Is it a 16v or a G60?
  10. No worries.. its nice to be able to remain useful to the group despite not being an owner any more. Sob. Well as Andy said.. just disconnect it all and hose it through for a while with a can of carb cleaner.. should hopefully knock out and disolve grease and stuff. As I said, also worth doing disty cap, rotor arm and ignition leads at some point. They all help get the 16v engine running smoother!! :)
  11. You know, I have absolutely no idea what thats for.. mine used to have one as well.
  12. Dave, Found this picture on google image search of a VW Golf 16v engine bay, but its enough to show you where to look.... Its the small black piece, which joins on to the long thin piece of rubber tube that runs the whole way along the front of the engine & manifold. All you have to do is remove it from the rubber tube, and disconnect an electrcal plug / sensor. Hope that helps! *edit* Hope mark16v doesnt mind.. nicked a shot of his engine bay as it helps show it better - just photoshopped it to highlight the bit I mean.
  13. Well both me & Tom (VR6) have the Pioneer DEH-P7400MP - the short and skinny of it is : *Organic EL Display, *Plays MP3's recorded to CD's and CD-R's, *LOADS of sound tweaking options, eq's, positions *Compatible with the seperate Pioneer DAB unit if you want DAB. You can pick it up at places like Cel Direct for £240... can't reccomend it highly enough! :)
  14. Cheers!! :) I got a bit of a list of people I need to be looking out for... should be a good day!
  15. Well.. i'll definately be going. If you need somewhere to meet up, look for me - I bet I am in the only one in a Saxo there!!! :)
  16. Dave, My car started to get more and more troublesome because I used to have a really short journey to work (4 miles / 10 minutes) - because it was never given a proper run I kinda felt like it was choking up towards the end of owning it - hesitant from cold, occasional cut outs when cold, etc.. Worth swapping if you have just bought the car are ignition leads, disty cap, and rotor arm - I am a total engine dunderhead but even I managed to swap those bits without too much hassle.. definately made my car run a LOT better. Though a word of warning.. VW glue the rotor arms in place and the only way of getting them off (assuming it hasnt been done already before and not glued back on) is with some serious pressure thru a pair of molegrips!!
  17. Well the AGM is on Sunday so you gotta decide whether or not to go pretty shortly.. bear in mind the only cost of going to the AGM is going to be your fuel & whatever expenses. Not only that, but its not an event like GTI International is.. its just a meeting where club business is discussed and a hell of a lot of Corrados.. people meet up and have a chat. If you need to save up and just go to one event, GTI International would be the one! :)
  18. Eh.. we have two duplicate threads. Gonna put my reply from that in here, and chop the dupe : I can't help you with the technical problem unfortunately. But according to the handbook you shouldn't start the car with any throttle at all. I found that using a little throttle on startup made my Corrado misbehave quite often with idle problems.. when I stopped doing it, it made it made it behave a LOT better. If the car is going to struggle at all starting from cold, I believe you are only supposed to depress the clutch and thats it. I shouldn't imagine its going to damage the car though.. if nothing sounds different, there are no misfires or anything like that, I find it very unlikely that you will damage anything.
  19. I'll make a decision about it if he ever comes to sell it.. amusingly he feels it isnt worth a lot of money. :D
  20. Well I keep considering going nuts and buying my neighbours Ford Capri. Its a 2.8i (V6 I think) which would be powerful enough as it is... but it had a turbo technics turbo bolted onto it as well!! He keeps threatening to sell it to help consolidate his cars into one decent one (he has a few cars) and I just think his Capri kicks ass. The engine sounds totally superb... the most excellent rumble from it. Could do with getting the tappits done as it rattles a bit from cold, but apart from that it rocks!!! :)
  21. I have to say, owning a Porsche at some point in the next 10 or so years is my current ambition. I'd love to own a classic late 1980's / early 90's 911 :)
  22. 22.... at least I can say I owned a coupe, and the car that I wanted when I was 21, even though I dont own it any more!! :|

    Big wheels

I wonder how many people actually fell for it.. apart from the fact that the arches would have eaten through the middle of the tread on the tyres, and that you wouldnt actually be able to steer at all :)

    Big wheels

Hehe.. I think I saw this posted on Vortex.. didnt you just prop the alloys on whilst the car was on axle stands for some work? ;)
  25. Well tappits on the Corrado can start to get very loud over 90,000 miles depending on how the car was driven in the past. I had the tappits replaced on my Corrado in the middle of last year as they were starting to become noticable in general use, and very noticable when starting the car from cold. It was about £200 all in at a specialist, but as you are doing them yourself you might as well do them! I am definately no mechanic but replacing all the tappits might help.
