Oh! Here is the answer if ever I saw it mate!! Posted on the CCGB mailing list which I suggest you sign up to if you wish to pursue this one any further! (simply because Yahoo! hides email addresses so you'd have to get on there to be able to email the guy)
-
Dave, Sorry to hear that mate :| You could try a lot worse than this (http://www.volkswagenspares.com) place.. I checked their 'currently breaking' section and there are a few promising candidates - no Corrados this year, but a number of Golf GTI's which could be potential donors!! (This sounds promising - about 7 cars down, green Golf MK3 GTI - "GOLF MK3 16VALVE 2LITRE ABF ENGINE CODE 4 X DOOR, NO DAMAGE ALL PARTS AVAILABLE") I am sure some of the other guys will post some more well known breakers for you.. keep us up to date though mate!

Isnt there an old saying.. if something sounds too good to be true, then it ususally is!! If it really does sound that cheap a deal then there might be something hooky going on. Without any real history, its a bit of a gamble!
-
Yeah.. come on.. cough up!!
-
Mmmmhmmm... even the styling is nice. And a VR Twin Turbo... crazy!! :)
-
And where abouts in the UK are you?
-
Bloody hell.. you are actually getting the car into VW!! Did you just get a small lottery win? :)
-
I dunno.. i've never been in a 2.8 VR6 to compare, but I couldnt believe how smooth the Corrado 2.9 VR6 engine was.. a friend of mine used to have one and he didn't exactly look after it that well - but that engine always ran quiet and smooth. My 16v was a much more 'gnarly' engine in comparison.
-
Is there any advantage this? I am kinda curious to know as I dont know what the advantage to this would be over leaving it on :)
-
Cheers mate... i'll try pay them a visit at some point.. hopefully over the weekend!

Well being an owner of a VR6 Highline will stand you in pretty good stead.. you should be able to spot engine problems a mile away :) Things to look for on the Corrado though.. make sure all the electrics are working (spoiler, mirrors, all functions of MFA, etc) - check the service history and make sure the the mileage seems to tally up as they a prone to getting clocking. Check for damp in the driver & passenger footwells as they sometimes get badly fitted aftermarket windscreens & consequently water leaks. Look for the paint code sticker in the boot to help identify that its an original car, and has not been resprayed. The VR6 Storm in Mystic Blue should have a black leather interior, air con, and pretty much every other goodie going that the Corrado could have. If its missing things then its a bit suspect.
-
Yep, I believe thats the case.
-
But if you are a total Corrado enthusiast, that extra grand or two for that Storm badging makes all the difference :)

Can some one clear up with me IF VW split the vin in 96.....

Well I can't answer your question (hopefully someone else can) but i'd like to say welcome to the forum anyway :) -

Welcome to the forum :) -
Yeah, I did notice a few posts on there about 1 or 2 Corrado drivers giving their cars a bit of stick around the car park... it was a little bit naughty and it left us not looking as squeaky clean and guilt free as we could have been. Nevermind. I wouldn't say the CCGB has a bad reputation anyway :)

Jez, These were carpets, not rubbers.. and the quality was awful. I only kept them in my car because : a) They cost £57 and I didnt really just wanna chuck em b) They had 'Corrado' lettering on em which looked pretty cool :) But as I say, the quality was pretty crummy.
-
Have you actually picked up the mats yet? Or are they on order? You'll realise pretty quickly that they are a major rip - for the sake of printed / very soft felt style 'Corrado' lettering and seriously cheap feeling (and foam backed) mats, I felt pretty cheated for my £57. I dont even think they are original VW items.. it seemed like VW has some external supplier make em for them on the cheap :(
-
OK, so I just signed up to make it easier. Corrado fares pretty well.. a good majority of the Honda guys reckon its a pukka motor :)
-
Hm, I cant find many threads relating to Sunday.. only a couple. Are all the main ones buried away so that you have to become a member of the forum to see them?
-
Well I think the Civic in the USA & Canada, is the equivilant of the Vauxhall Nova here in the UK.. crummy engines, stupid body kits, and the cars getting thrashed and wrecked all the time. Hondas over here are more generally owned by elderly folks - even the Civic. So a well done up one is not that bad. There were a lot of nice Hondas at Gaydon on Sunday (NSX, some S2000's, loads of Integra Type R's) so I didn't really have a problem with it.
-
Is your front chin spoiler sprayed in the same black as the rest of the body work? If so, how do you stop it from getting scraped and stone chipped to hell??
-
Andi.. at least my lights work without me having to dismantle the car ;) Oh, and Valver.. sorry mate, was too late in reading this - already booked it in with Citroen in Brum - quoted £300 which is the cheapest by far. So are there any really good alarm / immobiliser companies you'd reccomend mate? :) Thats next on my shopping list!! I hear Pilot in Earlsdon are very good.. I personally dont want to go to Quantum in the city centre as they have always been snooty with me...
-
I find it frustrating and childish. If the Corrado is so crap, why does it continue to get praise heaped on it by motoring magazines like Evo, 14 years after its original launch. Some of the Hondas that showed up their WERE a bit of a joke - you know the deal, Civic with huge great exhaust pipes, flip paint, and an ICE setup so loud you could hear it echo'ing off the buildings. But no one says anything, and no one looks down on them - if that is the car that they enjoy, then I say great - we are all bound by a common enthusiasm, and we should all just get along for christs sake. I'd be surprised if owners of the less common cars like the S2000 were poking fun though.. they own similarly uncommon & desirable cars, so they should have a similar mentality. I suspect the comments were not made by them.

About 7 or 8k if its in very good condition. I think. :)
