apologies if this has been discussed and i missed it... or if i put this in the wrong section. i'm going to be putting the corrado away for the winter (two winters??) this week... and i want to make sure i do everything in my power to prepare it for some long-term storage. i'm going to.. - top up the petrol and put in stabalizer - take out my spankin new g-lader and plug up boost tube - jack and support the car - making sure its LEVEL. taking off tires and probably brake components - top up oil and coolant... should i use straight G11 and no water since this is for storage purposes? - wrap tarps/mesh around the BOTTOM of the car to keep critters out... and then some more over the top as well... the car will be stored in a shed out in the country. the shed usually stays a few degrees hotter than outside (we get down to -20C sometimes -30C in the dead of january). its dirt floors and mice, ground hogs, etc have been known to poke their heads around in there..i think i'm going to bait some critter traps. any other pointers?

ya ya do it!!! 225hp flavour please. stick the quattro on while you're at it!!
-
i think those would look the shit on your ride darren

shut up unless they ask or find out on their own. :thumb right:

have any more info on how the immobiliser works? i might consider it for my '90.. no alarms in pre-'91s in north america..

pretty wild. that colour makes me wonder... i'm 99% sure its not a stock colour... but is it? last week my girlfriend said she saw a C in a colour she descibes as exactly the same as your car.. i said it must have been resprayed as i don't recall pale-lavender as a stock colour. you've gone pretty far with body mods.. ever considered a move to M3 mirrors (will go with the bimmer knock off side skirts) in the window triangle.. maybe shave all the locks off of there. door handles/roof strips/rear wiper while you're at it?

daz the mad scientist comes through again. that's a rough IC you pulled out there!!
-
haha, just noticed... that red corrado with the clear headlights has the "99 cent clear side marker conversion" ...its plastic from flourecent light covers cut to fit!ghetto!
-
do you mean the front indicators or the sides? the sides i just fiberglassed em over... but my indicators were in the bumper... canadian spec. the front signals on the bumper i removed and grinded out the holes to get more air to the intake on one side and the IC on the other (G60). putting the indicators in the headlights is a breeze.. same plugs and connectors for the indicators and running lights.

bottom line.. if you're strapped for cash get a jap car. the corrado will end up costing you a fair bit more to run than some old jap run-around in the end, regardless of condition. like kevhaywire said... japcrap has reliability vw can only dream of. sad but true. too bad they have no class/torque!

..however, the 16v head (esp 1.8 16v) design is far far superior to the G60 PG head... even after the PG head has been ported it doesn't flow as well as a 16v head.

exactly.. he's trying to sell the car so of course he'll say its as fast as he can get away with. "After modifications approx 165bhp" is barely more than a stock G60, and what G60 owner hasn't atleast done a chip/pulley? launching in 2nd is no problem.. that means only one gearchange before 60mph. 0-60 means nothing anyway.. low down torque and pure grunt is what i'm after... even a 16v with a turbo won't have as much torque in low-rpm as a well-tuned G60.

if you two have the proper fenders to go with each bonnet, then you'll need to swap those too. when i got my G60 there was a late hood on it with early fenders and there was a slight gap (but annoying to the purist) in the middle between the hood and fender. i planned on getting late fenders... then realized i'd rather have the early hood!
-
he was probably just staying a bit ahead of you without letting you pass... thats what i always do to piss people off
-
i think its the early bonnet most people are after!!
-
haha that digi clock is jokes!! take that thing out of there. i use that cubby space for all the screws, fasteners, clips and fuses that i come across or need to work on the car! tight car, looks v nice. i agree about the taillights tho.. don't like them so much. i'd get them stripped down to plastic, tint the orange bit black and then clear/polish the whole thing for nice black/red tails.. but that's me!! nice ride.

different doors jet? thats a new one by me.. what's different? just like the "what's faster, G60 or VR6" debate.. the two hoods are another age-old bickering point between G60 and VR6 owners... i believe ALL G60's had the recess and ALL VR6's had the bulge. reason being, VR6s need the extra room for the taller engine and the G60's all retained the proper corrado lines the way they were meant to be with the recessed hood as they don't need extra engine clearance (okay now VR6 guys make a rude comment about me.. alright ready to continue). the 16v and 8v varieties got whatever they had sitting around the factory i imagine!!

when the engine is cold, the coolant is hotter than the oil and exchanges its heat with the oil, bringing the oil up to operating temperature faster. then once the oil gets hotter than the coolant, the coolant cools it down making the OE heat exchanger into an oil cooler. like you said, not as efficient as a proper oversized oil cooler for cooling, but it does have its purpose, and that's why its called a heat exchanger and not a cooler. generally, i've found it keeps the two fluids within 10C of each other. so... you're used to oversized rally parts but you're not going stage 4 charger..and why only 70mm pulley and not 68mm, 65mm or 62mm you wildman? :?

first off... when they ask your milage to work, say you don't drive the car to work so its 0. that will help. or if that bugs you say its only 1 mile or something like that. that helps a lot with the rate, around here anyway. but our insurance rates are pure theivery. they charge me more for my beater every month than i PAID TO BUY THE CAR. :x :x :x
-
why not all the way skye?? skage 4 is only a few more bucks... work overtime this week. the oil cooler does actually do quite a good job on these cars in their stock form.. the stock cooler also helps the car get up to operating temperature quicker. once you start upping the boost/power.. you're right, it needs to be replaced. its not bad for a stock unit though..
-
good point nigel.. then when the inspector arrives just make sure everything 'looks' as stock as possible. they can't see porting, upgraded chargers, bigger injectors, computer chip.. doubt they'd know if they saw a smaller pulley.
-
 where'd the lader go!? while its out check, double check that coolant hose that you've got disconnected from the flange for cracks/leaks.. major pain in the ass once the chargers back in believe me. should take off your oil feed/return lines too and run a can of brake clean through them. if one of those gets coked kaboom charger... remember you need a different pulley if you delete A/C... there's a cheap $12 VW pulley that will work forget what its from though... i'm thinkin 2.slow delete that carbon cannister... boost leak for sure if you get your charger upgraded. tell dave to go all out on the porting like he did on mine, you won't be disappointed!!! so much boost so quick.. .all the torque you need down low with a 65-72mm pulley.

take it back to the shop. tell them what you told us and have them take a look. brake work is serious, no reputable shop will think twice before checking their work just to be sure.
