Did the sump gasket arrive today, Jon?

    Vr abs

Check the VAG-COM scanning & help thread for someone near you who could assist with scanning or post your location and see if there's anyone nearby. In my experience it's usually a faulty sensor or poor connection that causes the light to stay on. Also, welcome to the forum!
  4. That's interesting. Did you arrive at 4.5k by trial and error? I've found the changeover almost unnoticeable at 3.8k on standard cams and without a remap.
  5. The road speed signal is sent via a blue/white wire and there are several take-offs for this on the fusebox. One of them could perhaps be shorting to the body intermittently.

I imagine postage to be £2-£3 so how about £20 all in? (£35 from TPS!) Alternatively, I work in the centre of Manchester so if you can meet me there one day I'll take it in with me and you can knock a couple of quid off :)

    Few parts wanted

I have a late-type rubber sump gasket spare. Unused and genuine.

    sunroof repair kit

You know, I got all the bits back in November last year and haven't got around to fitting them yet so I just opened up the bag and had a look - you're absolutely correct that both cables are included... So I have a spare repair kit including both cables which I'll let go at cost if anyone's interested

    sunroof repair kit

Oh, if only t'were the case. A single repair kit (one side) will set you back £93.13 from TPS these days. And don't forget the special grease, a steal at only £20.20 a tube! Edit: for the benefit of future readers: the above part actually contains cables for both sides.
  10. A proper aircon loom would be nice! My setup is a mess with relays all over the place and badly-done splices.
  11. Hah, I have just realised I completely contradicted myself :)
  12. NGK BKR5EKU. No need for fancy iridium tips or multiple electrodes.
  13. I recall seeing that moisture in the MAF connector let in by an ill-fitting seal can be problematic. Good spray of WD40, maybe?
  14. Meh, just stick 5l in and top up while checking the dipstick.
  15. Depends if they're structural or not - got a couple of them on my van

    Decisions

You can have all three if you just get one new radiator, one leather seat and a single bike wheel...
  17. 5.9 litres with filter, IIRC. 10W40 semi here too.
  18. The proper screws are still available from the dealer but a full set will cost you about £20! Annoyingly the Golf MkIII ones don't fit.
  19. Looks very tidy but I'm wondering why it needed a new engine after only 83k...
  20. I love it when folks come up with upgrades like this :) Do you think you could update this thread with progress? I'm interested in the technical details of the control unit.
  21. Your symptoms are similar to when the slave cylinder went on mine. Can you hook your foot under the pedal and lift it while the engine is still running? Could also be low fluid level as the clutch is fed from higher up on the reservoir than the brakes.
  22. Just got her running again after changing chains and tensioners, swapping the coolant pump and fitting the new cams and other sundries (short shifter, headlamp loom)! Chuffed :)
