but its using coolant!! might try that halfords stuff for the radiator, cant do any harm surely. cheers Timo.

My Polo headgasket has obviously got a leak in it somewhere. As I'm a lazy sod I aint really too bothered about fixing. Only needs topped up every 4-500 miles so it cant be too bad. No oil in coolant but there's always white crap under the oil fill cap. Question is, is there any product that I can put in the coolant that might help seal the leak. I had a look in halfords the other week but there was only stuff for radiators. WIll this be any good? or shall I dive in and do my first headgasket! cheers Simon

I've managed to balls up my chance of owning a Corrado...
Timo. replied to Pat_McCrotch's topic in General Car Chat
Its worth the wait mate, it'll be even more special when you finally get one. It'll be something to look forward too. The Hub, I know where you coming from. Mines be particularly nice to me over the past months. I dont use it much at the minute so that might explain it. Doing the gearbox oil today, although I waiting for it to warm up out there. It looks bloomin' freezing at the minute. Plus I dont think I can drive yet to warm up the box (big night!!) T. -
I've managed to balls up my chance of owning a Corrado...
Timo. replied to Pat_McCrotch's topic in General Car Chat
Commercial vehicles all have a 60mph limit on a motorway, and 50mph on the normal roads. (in 60 zones) Bummer dude, but I have to say white vans especially sprinters are one of the things I hate the most on motorways. Fly past me going down hill and then I have to go to the bother of overtaking going up hill. Does my nutt in!! T. -
next time it freezes get yourself a long screw driver and go round to the back of the car (make sure you aint on a hill and the car is in gear!!!) and have a look for the levers for the handbrake cable on the rear caliper. Wedge in the screw driver, lever it up and the jobs a good one. Obviously do both sides. Takes 2 minutes and you'll be off on your journey! T.

So that's 4 so far. We need to cross reference the 'What colour is your Corrado' with the 'What have you got? VR, g60, 16v etc' thread! Bet there wont be many! according to that first thread there's only 10 nugget yellow corrados on here. Surely some people haven't voted. I knew that car was a good buy, wish I hadn't sold my half of it back to my Dad :( T.
-
Someone's comment in another thread got me into thinking how many of these there actually is. So, if you own one, or know someone that does but doesn't use this forum then leave a post. I'll start, my Dad has one (nicely tucked up in my sisters garage way from the evil weather 8) ) T.

You should have had someone sat in that car!! T.

You need the front calipers, carriers, 288mm discs and the hoses off the Golf. Get yourself to a scrappy or keep a look out on VW sites for this setup. Tou're probably looking at 150->200 bucks. Buying the parts new from VW is out of the question as the coast is fecking high! Just done this mod on my VR. What a differenc, really scrubs of the speed now with little effort. Only other thing needed is some nice new brake fluid to bleed the brakes once you've done the switch over. Its quite an easy and straight forward job as long at the old brakes pipes aren't too seized. Timo.

I quite like Texaco Super. But I barely get chance to put that in the VR. I stick with optimax, I tried BP ultimate and it felt no better. I found the G60 loved BP ultimate, hated 95 RON and went well on optimax. T.
-
stick with vag!! The car feels sooooo much better after changing the rear bushes, its like a train!!! T.
-
They are quite hard to sell privately. Can everyone get off my back, its not my fecking car and I aint selling it!! I recon dealers get what they deserve in my opinion, I have no sympathy for them!! Rip off mechants, getting a taste of their own medicine!! T.
-
There's nothing wrong with it! Really though, they are tough old machines.... dr_mat, exactly mate!! Lets strip the engine down and makes sure everythings alright! I'll pay for that (NNNoooottttt!!), damn fecking sure the insurance company wont! They'll be the happy insurance company in Britain today as my sister has just cancelled any claim. T.

No its getting traded in!! T.

Rules to be Changed for Setting Speed Limits
Timo. replied to martinholmesuk's topic in General Car Chat
hope we get to do more than 70mph on the motorway!! T. -
ITS ALIVE!!!!!!!!!! I have my Polo back!!!!! whoopeeeee :) :) :) The guys from the recover place have told her to get rid of it quick as they reckon some serious damage may have been done. Seems to be ok though. She's getting a Mini next weekend so she has a week to dry out the carpets in the car!! T.
-
Surely the ECU wont like that too much. More air at the same rpm means it may not be able to fuel enough -> lean running -> melted piston!! Similar problem with the schrick manifold on the VR. You have to get a custom map to make use of all the extra air being sent into the engine. Bentley says under no circumstances to adjust those linkages, they are set at the factory and should only be adjusted by the pro's (not VW mechanics obviously!) Just my thoughts, better ask Darren or John etc... Timo.
-
Well the recovery place that the car is currently at, has been having a wee tinker with it. They have taken out the plugs to dry out the engine and have cranked the engine manually so it sounds quite promising. They are gonna get it spark up in the next few days to see if its alright. She's a lucky girl!!! A testiment to how strong subaru engines are I think!!! As long as it works, obviously!! Timo.

Its the second claim (big) that she's had on that policy too. The insurance company must be crying their eyes out. She ended up going through a hedge down a hill and into a wood the first time after avoiding white van man in middle of blind bend!!! That was the day I got into the Police too so it kinda put a damper on celebrations. Still she walked away and that in my opinion is all that matters. T.

Henny, Mate there was water coming out the exhaust, engine was totally seized. dr_mat, The insurance companys can be a bit dodgy when it comes to things like this!! Glad it wasn't me! benji16v, Water goes into combustion chambers, water dont compress like fuel, it barely compresses at all. Bye, bye conrods etc. FOrtunately she was only idling the engine at the time and the old boxer engine is pretty strong so who knows!!! She's hoping they write it off, she's just been trying to trade it in for a Mini Cooper cos of the fuel comsumption of the preza turbo T.

That's what my sister has been left with after the weekend. She had just left my house with the explicit instructions for both my father and me not to go through water that was over 1 foot deep..... She failed and killed the Preza. By the time I got there it had be pushed out to the other side of the lake!! that used to be a road. I was picked up by a land rover to get across to the other side. Another 6" of water and the land rover would have not made it. That's how deep it was!!!! Got to the car opened up the airbox and squeezed out the air filter (it was like ringing out a sponge). Then proceeded to have a go at my sister who then burst into tears  . Whoopes  Nevermind, in the hands of the insurance company and she is now running around in my Polo so I have to use the corrado going to work now :( Timo. P.S. The car had 2" of water in the foots wells too!!! She crazy!

Got one of ebay last night for £62, so I cant complain. If its sh&te then I've only lost 62 bucks instead of £100 (halfords) or £200 RRP. Its as new, used one, in box with everything! kevhaywire, That Road Angel you have? Is that the top of thr range with laser/radar detection along with the GPS? Just, my Dad may be interested as that a pretty good price! Timo.
