You will have to drop the rear of the headlining to get to the nut securing the aerial. Loosening the nut may give you enough room to fit the new gasket over the top, but I removed it completely and refitted. It's not too difficult, just be careful with the trim and pry it off in the centre to un-stick the mastic. Then there will be enough give in the headlining to carefully pull the tabs out of the rear of the roof. Difficult to explain but you'll see once you start it. I've done mine a couple of times now without a problem. Couple of pics from when I first did mine, you can see the tabs on the headlining:

They're available on ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Golf-Passat-Polo-GTI-Roof-Aerial-Rubber-Gasket-Seal-/400134137298?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5d29da65d2 Not too difficult to fit, you just need pull off the trim at the back of the headlining and pull the headlining down a couple of inches and it gives you enough room to undo the aerial. If the headlining trim hasn't been removed before I believe they used a blob of mastic in the centre of the trim, the rest is just clipped up.

Corrado Heat Shield Hood Liner (Group Buy 2014)
jscVR6 replied to Southie's topic in Group Buy Feelers
VR6 no emblem for me please. Many thanks -
KevinBacon is right, new parts won't necessarily fix it... I had this exact same problem immediately AFTER replacing all the rear brakes with new genuine Mk4 callipers, carriers, genuine discs and genuine pads. The new pads had a self adhesive backing and I put the noise down to this not allowing the pads any movement, so I stripped it all again and copper greased everything and it's much better. Still does it occasionally tho but no where near as loud.
