  1. I thought that too! Thought g-man was extracting the urine! :)
  2. It's an OBX manifold I found on eBay across the pond. $195 + shipping, which in real money came to about £160! Drop me a PM if you want more info.
  3. I was originally thinking about just putting the manifold on with the standard mounts, but don't want to risk it! Just spoke to Stealth again, Vibratechnics have sent out the wrong mount. They're going to get the right one sent out to me tomorrow and they'll refund my postage to return the gearbox mount to them. Can't say fairer than that, can you?! :)
  4. My old man is currently fitting the Vibratechnics mounts I ordered from Stealth, but it looks like they've sent a gearbox mount instead of a rear engine mount. Is the rear engine mount on a Corrado VR6 the same as a Golf VR6?
  5. Spotted another Twilight Violet Corrado last night at the Old Inns Shell station near Cumbernauld. Woman driving, pretty sure she spotted me as I was leaving. Gave her a flash of the hazards!
  6. I hadn't even thought of it as a potential problem to be honest. Really hoping everything's going to be OK!
  7. Too late now! :) New head will be on some time next week, I'll report back then...
  8. I got a second hand VR cylinder head rebuilt a couple of weeks ago. Had new valve stem oil seals & valve guides fitted, the valve seats were reground and I had the head skimmed. Cost me about £250.
  9. I'd read on here about the Mk2 diesel gearbox mount, but didn't realise I'd need to uprate the rear engine mount as well. Best get saving then! :) You've got a similar setup on yours, don't you?
  10. Hi there, I'm fitting a stainless steel exhaust manifold to my VR in the next couple of weeks and was looking at fitting a Vibratechnics front engine mount while I'm at it. Question is, which one do I go for? Will the Fast Road mount be stiff enough to stop the manifold cracking or do I need to go for a Competition one? The rear and gearbox mounts are going to be left standard, but replaced with new ones. Many thanks, Andrew.
  11. I used to have a Bluetooth headset for my last phone, it was the best thing ever! Haven't got round to getting one for my current phone, but I really should. Have to confess to taking the odd call when I'm driving, but I always keep it as short as possible.
  12. Is it not legal to text when you're driving? Sounds stupid, I know, but I'm sure I read that somewhere...something to do with the wording of the law when they introduced it.

    A theory

I'd love to fit a supercharger, but its fairly far down on my list of priorities at the moment! One day...

Its not a case of wanting to go faster than everyone else, just a bit of banter between friends! You know how it is! :)

    A theory

Sorry, should have mentioned we're talking about a 150bhp Golf remapped to somewhere around 200bhp. I've had a 'go' with Ali before and completely destroyed him, but this topic basically came up as he's thinking about fettling his Golf.

Not sure about in-gear acceleration times, but the Cooper S Works is 6.7 seconds to 60. Is that not the same as a VR6? My mate has one, and there's not much in it...

    A theory

My mate Ali posted this over on the Club GTI forum, basically asking which car would win in a flat-out race, a Mini Cooper S Works, a Mk4 Golf 20vT or a Corrado VR6. I have a theory...the projected finishing order will be different depending on which forum the question is posted. Even though the guys on the Club GTI forum put the Mini in 1st, one guy rekcons the Golf will beat the Raddo because it would 'rev better'. Surely this would only be a factor if the engines were the same? A 50cc sit-on lawnmower might 'rev better' than a Ferrari Enzo, but it doesn't mean its going to beat it in a race! Some of the misconceptions are really funny, one being that the Mini is a light car. Fair enough, its lighter than a Raddo and a Golf, but only by about 65kg! The opposite is true of the Mk4, everyone assumes they are lardy arsed, but apparently they weigh near enough the same as a Raddo. Is that right? Final question, is the final drive in a Corrado VR6 box different from the final drive in a Golf VR6 box? I'm sure I remember reading that somewhere... Thanks, rant over! :)
  18. One of my mates in particular winds me up about spending so much time on 'the forum' and about how anal I can be about my Corrado, but its all in jest really! :) When he's in a more sensible mood, he admits that he'd love to have one, but doesn't want the hassle of an older car. He's got a Fiesta ST.

    Quiet

Was nearly late for work this morning. Alarm went off at 05:30, thought to myself, 'I'll have 5 more minutes in my bed.' Next thing I know, its 06:05 and I need to leave the flat at 06:15! :) Quite impressed I made it in on time actually...
  20. Does anyone know how many screws there are in total holding the splitter on? Might as well get a new set...
  21. I'd be interested in the strip and a bundle of screws. The strip on my car is cracked and I'm missing nearly all the screws along the front edge!
  22. Sorry mate, you beat me to it! :)
  23. When you fit rear brakes, you screw in the piston on the caliper until the gap is just about a millimetre wider than the pads and disc itself. Once the brakes are back together, the piston will automatically adjust outward with the pedal to compensate for pad and disc wear, hence why you have to screw the piston back in the first place. I can't see the need for different pads, apart from to avoid the fitment issues Baz2004 had with the Mk4 ones...
  24. Yeah, its a bit crowded, but you can still get close to the stuff you want to see if you plan ahead and get a bit pushy! :) I'll be heading down with a couple of my mates. I'm sure there was another thread about the Festival of Speed kicking about, there's at least another couple of CF people going.
