hi, havnt had a chance to have a good look as i dont have my tools with me, my car was idleing strange so i poped the hood and i can see exhaust gas comming from around the MAF area, before i start stripping things down to have a look, is there a common problem with this? im guessing the manifold gasket's leaking but i dont know yet, iv never dealt with an exhaust system before so i'll be learning. any advice/tips much appreciated, also if it is a gasket, rather then waiting for one to arrive is there any paste/sealant i can use on it? thanks..

my vr's like this! im replaceing the 2 temp senders in a few days, i should get it hooked up to vagcom and check the ecu temp vs the gauge temp but my m8 with vagcom is a lazy biotch, im prety sure one of them is out as my engine is way hotter then the gauge says, and because my gauge barely goes higher then 75 my fans dont kick in, probably running on the cold map aswell,

hi, not had my corrado vr6 {93} long got around to checking my front disc size today as i had the wheel off and to my surprise it already has bigger front discs! they seem to measure 290mm though?{145mm to center} this right? suerly it must be 288mm? also would mk4 1.8t discs fit ok? there 288mm,http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GOLF-MK4-1-8-T-AUDI-A3-1-8T-FRONT-BRAKE-DISCS-PADS-C351-/190307092326?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2c4f2fc766 -
that would be sweet!!!, whats the difference engine wise between the 4mo and the corrado's 2.9? i dont mean technical data i mean driveing wise, does it pull better etc ?, cheers..

vr6, washed bonnet now car is un driveable :(

hi, thanks for the replys, thanks to cazzar i found my problem! :) the MAF plug was absolutly flooded with water,i didnt realise the maf would have such an effect on the idleing, those plugs are supposed to have seals right? i know theres a slight split in the rubber boot that shrouds the cables on to the plug but its not bad, also need to loom tape most cables again as the old stuffs brittle and realy tatty,is there supposed to be rubber seals on the bonnet that would sit on the wings when closed to prevent this? my battery was also covered in water, -

hi , i had the engine running whilest i was washing the dust off my bonnet and it suddenly cut out, i first thought that water must of got in some where ? it started back up first time! but now idles badley and the revs is up and down and cuts out on me, i tryed driveing it to warm the engine bay up but every time you take the power off it cuts out and jumps around like a kangaroo!! any ideas ? i would of thought its the isv but it was fine before i washed the bonnet, its got to be water related, btw this happened yesterday so it should be enough time for it to dry out, the previous owner i know had idle an problem but has been fine since i got it, so maybe only when its damp? which electrical connections would cause this? thanks..

idd say spark plugs could be abit dodgey to anyone thats new to working on cars, the only reason i say dodgey is because its not hard to strip the threads and its not hard to cross threads either and if either of those happen it'll be abit of a nightmare and chances are they would have to seek proffesional help to sort it out, like most things though you learn and you gain confidence, and the quicker you get involved the faster you will learn...

soo nice! and yea it is good to see these cars getting rescued from neglect, maybe we should setup a corrado sanctuary? abit like the rspca but for corrados, the rspcc!!

yea man, those are new disc's lol , well i did them about a week ago, its just surface rust, im abit gutted about the caliper carriers though, i painted up the mk4 one's along with the calipers but when i came to fit them they didnt fit, there to wide to fit inbetween the disc and the mounting, abit strange init? im guessing mine must of been from a special mk4?, didnt have time to paint my old carriers at the time,i have now got a spongey brake pedal though, didnt let the master cylinder drop below min, and pumped the air out via a mate on the pedal, pumped about 250mml of clear fluid through each rear caliper, im kinda guessing its the new disc's n pads bedding together? gona go for an early morning bed in seshion tomo, ---------- Post added at 09:53 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:47 PM ---------- gona get a kit like this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270709959440&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT but localy so i dont have to wait for shipping, might get a mini pipe bender aswell if its needed, cheers...

hi, actualy put my new hoses and calipers on today. the old fiitings were a pain to undo but i got it done, looking at the rest of the fittings they are corroded badly,i want to replace the copper from the rear calipers and the flexi hose thats by the beam pivot to the brake balance thingy, anybody know the part number for this hose? or send me a link for it? the rest ill just make up with copper pipe and new male fittings, heres the mk4 caliper fitted, and heres the rotted fittings on the flexy hose, poor quality sorraay :(

nice! i did the exact same thing m8, i work part time in a bike shop so i had everything i needed at my disposal, even had the correct brass cable ends {ferrals} which seated perfect in the two metal tabs that act as cable stops, imo its just as good as factory, smooth as silk aswell with the oil i used inside the outer cable, total cost. about £10.00
