  1. ah nice, i did my engine cover + cam cover the same colour as my car, didnt turn out the way i thought it would though, think its due to the finish on the plastic cover being orange peeled or rough textured and idealy need it smoothed off before paint but i didnt,but still an improvment, glad your bolts didnt shear it was a nightmare for me, luckily didnt happen on the drivers side as the engine would have to be lifted for a drill to get in there, as for memebers gallary, at the top of this page click on non technical and its the top one on the next page..
  2. for them cars are just a form of transport from A to B, they aint got a clue or understand that most of these cars arnt made anyomore. its kinda sad when you see a mk2 golf or corrado being broken up for spares as thats another 1 gone,just think in 5 years time or even 10 years time, they are going to be quite rare for sale and rather then being broken there be sold off as restoration projects as you now sometimes get with mk1 golfs..
  3. your manifold looks very similar to mine, except i painted the engine cover and cam cover,have you replaced your wishbones yet? if not be realy careful! drench the bolts with penetrateing fluid a few times every couple of days before you do it, there prone to snapping! if they havnt been undone in awhile, you should post this up in the members gallery.. what could of been a few hours work turned into an absolute ball ache, but i got it sorted,i know theres a member on here that had to replace his sub frame because of this. just a heads up..
  4. LOL take up 2 car park spaces, i can imagine that aswell.to op, i know what you mean i took my car in to have a wire that was burnt out by my distributer sorted, i got my car back with a whistleing noise and kangarooed like mad! i wasnt happy ! the guy said "oh wasnt the whislteing noise there before?" er no it was fine before i brought it in! turned out he hadnt done the manifold gasket up!, got my car back and it still kangarooed! so i drove it home and pulled the leads out and one was wraped up in electrical tape! the others looked dodgey! he had pulled them out by the leads and not used the vag lead tool! i only replaced them 2 weeks before, he addmitted not useing a tool on them and i got a new set of leads free! they offered to fit them but natrualy i declined!, makes me question the wire repair! and anything else that he has done!, if it wasnt for that wire repair it wouldnt of gone in! its only because i know next to nothing about electrics,atleast if you do the work yourself you know its done right {ish lol }
  5. you dont hang around do ya ;) looks nice man! leather aswell!! i know exactly what you mean about TLC, its what keeps us interested in them, it would be a tad boaring if all of our cars were minters that didnt need anything doing other then driveing, i actualy enjoy working/improveing on my car just as much as driveing :)
  6. ive always thought mine had a problem, but i think its just normal, my temp gauge is like yours,just stays low on the guage although it can rise up to 85 90 on a hot day or left on idle, my fans also kick in when they should ,iv always thought it was lying to me!! engine bay just seems hotter then it is, iv replaced the 2 temp senders in the thermostat housing,think its just normal tbh..a way to tell if one senders lying is to hook it up to vag comm and get the temp reading on there and then see what the guage is saying..
  7. hi, you wont be disapointed with the corrado ! unless you buy cheap! seriously though £1000 aint much, i brought my Corrado vr6 for £1300 and it came with a huge list of problems, most of which i knew about at the time of sale, looking back i wish i would of saved up and spent around 3k! on a better condition one, they are awesome cars! every time i drive it makes me smile :) there also becoming rarer each year! but the problems iv got/had keeps me intersted and i love learning about my car, so if your mechanicaly minded and want to get involved with little things like replaceing the rear brake calipers,door hinge pins, suspension bushs etc etc then buy a cheap one! but expect to have problems which come with cheap cars, otherwise if your not up for doing the work just save up and buy one thats been looked after as it will end up costing if not more in the long run.
  8. if you do get wheel spacers get hub centric ones which sits on the spigot and supports the weight, they normaly come with the longer bolts required, the other spacers are to be avoided imo..
  9. prety damn long bud, dont remember exactly, i work in a bike shop and regular cables arent long enough,i even used outer brake cable and the brass cable ends aswell as a barrel adjuster so i can adjust the tension, has to be a tandem one, if you pop the hood you can trace its location and roughly measure it, btw if you decide to use one they just thread through the hole on the release leaver, oil it up good! and it will be just as good if not better then oem.
  10. if any of you guys need a new cable, go to your local bike shop and ask for an inner tandem brake cable and a cable knarp/clamp, total cost is pence compared to a genuine one. i had to do this on mine when i 1st brought, you had to open the bonnet via rope in the grill :(
  11. lol Ball polishing {not what your thinking!} that made me chuckle haha childish i know :)
  12. just got hold of a shed for the winter, so this is on the things to do list aswell!...
  13. as mentioned above,the cooling system should be pressurised otherwise the fluid will boil, are you looseing coolant? if not i wouldnt worry to much, how long does it take to over heat? maybe the thermostat is stuck closed and stopping the water from circulateing through the rad?
  14. its not a bad job, only problem you may encounter is seized nuts/bolts, use penetrateing fluid on them a day before to help you out, for the top mount nut your gona want a ring offset spanner {sorry i forget the size think its 24mm?}then you can get your allen key on the strut to stop it spinning,also note the order of the front strut bearing..heres a pic of when i did mine.
  15. hi, need a pair of borbet A's 16x7.5 or even 8j 5x100 pcd need to have an et of 35 or 30, will do straight swap for a pair of 16x9j 15et 5x100 or cash if prefered, i basicaly have a set of 16x9js and they fit perfect on the rear but up front they stick out far to much so i just need two 7.5s up front, thanks
  16. Thought idd share this, i seen on ebay a corrado repair manual on cd for roughly £8.00 so i thought ah what the hell and brought it, well i fired it up today and its AWESOME! its a copy of that bentley manual in pdf form, so you dont have to install or spend hours trying to make it work with your pc, covers alot of stuff includeing windscreen removal/installation includeing tools to use. well worth £8.00 as opposed to £80.00 for the book!!

    bare in mind m8 you aint gona get a minter for pennys! ,you pay for what you get, unless you get real lucky.
  18. sweet car, going 24v is something i deffinatly want to do in the future,the sound of the 24v is prety damn sweet!!!!!
  19. common leaks for me, rocker/cam cover gasket,oil cooler seals. oil cooler seals are tricky to do with just jacking the car up without takeing the front off but its do able with small hands,
  20. the crack wont be helping noise issues, i changed my exhaust on my vr6 a few months back to a milltek with decat pipe and straight away certain engine noises were gone, {in a good way btw}
  21. i plan on doing mine at somepoint so i best get these ordered this week, cheers for the heads up
  22. the biggest problem i have when doing work on my corrado isnt the job in hand but the damn bolts/nuts that are seized..
  23. cheers for the link,got to do mine next week..
