thats exactly what i thought was going on with mine after i did the 24v swap as it was fine up until it was warmed up, then doing three point turns etc it would whine real bad, but it was down to me re-filling with vw green fluid which is a lot lighter then the red stuff that was in mine originally, have since put on the 24v pump and refilled with more vw green and all is well :) but you say its over flowing from the reservoir? i never had that, idd try another pump or maybe fluid related, it does take awhile for it to bleed up , i did mine while the front end was jacked up even after that it still took a decent drive for it to shut up..

Go for it! i was going to mention about the work your putting in with cellulose you could be putting in with a 2k single stage for a longer lasting harder wearing finish but ya know. give it 24hrs to cure then wetsand it with 1500 and machine buff with a compund for 1500 scratchs, i.e farecla g3 or 3m's green fast cut,

do the new glass mirrors have that same magnified effect if you know what i mean? , recently had to reverse into a tight drive and found the mirrors to be very deceptive!
-
nice work on the door bud, what we diy'rs lack in spraying skills make up in flatt and polishing :) when i removed my bonnet foam i used a tar and glue remover , came off pretty good!

its been awhile since i played with these handles but iirc theres wiring that goes to the handle itself im guessing either the handle's skrewed as its obviously been messed with or the wiring to it is damaged, my passenger side wiring was damaged due to it not being secured properly and every time the window went down it would chop/hit the wiring, remove your driver side door card and locate the wiring for it and make sure its all good if not then get a new handle , here in this pic you can see the wiring for the handle http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-CORRADO-N-S-PASSENGER-DOOR-HANDLE-AND-KEY-/351396577869?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item51d0de424d OH p.s if you decide to renew your handle its held in with 1 phillips skrew on the side edge of the door shut, i think its the drivers side that is left hand thread! cant remember exactly, but just be aware of it..

because both tank and cap are cheaper and readily available and will be for ages, other then that theres no real advantage to them, the mk4 electrical plug also fits in nicely with my engine as its mk4 2.8 so has the same style plugs , little things add up :)
-
yea its the mk4 one, you have to ovalize the 2 mounting holes slighty with a small round file or drill bit? as the hole centers are abit bigger then the rados {5mm?} but its easy to do , its deffo a worth while mod or you could just buy a rado vr6 tank and cap and straight swap , either way idd get a new tank and cap as it does make a huge difference, heres a syringe you can get to suck out coolant, you can also use it to suck power steering fluid or brake/clutch fluid just clean it out straight away http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Large-Big-Huge-50ml-100ml-160ml-SYRINGES-INK-CISS-IPA-GLUE-DIY-FAST-CHEAPEST-/151120286550?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&var=&hash=item232f789356

get this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MEYLE-Germany-Cap-for-Coolant-Tank-VW-Mk4-Golf-Polo-Bora-Passat-Audi-A2-A3-A4-TT-/151399270413?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item234019880d and this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Febi-Coolant-Expansion-Tank-Genuine-OE-Quality-Replacement-Reservoir-Header-/361170609028?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&fits=Car+Make%3AVW%7CModel%3AGolf%7CPlat_Gen%3AMK+IV&hash=item5417722384 and messagae this dude and ask him to cut you off the coolant bottle plug with about 8" of wires showing http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-GOLF-MK4-1-8-WATER-COOLANT-HEADER-EXPANSION-BOTTLE-TANK-1999-/161711964183?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item25a6c8c017

too much coolant is a possible cause as you need a certain amount of air gap in the coolant bottle, its the air gap which takes out the water expansion when the coolant heats up ,so if theres not enough room for water expansion then the valve in the cap release's its pressure = out it comes!, FYI The coolant cap is a pressure relief valve which will open up at a certain pressure, i guess over time that pressure might slowly change or fail to work completely , you need a vr6 cap ;) water PUMP pliers , ebay search it ;) Mk4 tank has the level sensor built in the same as vr6 tank , all you need is the mk4 tank and mk4 cap and the wiring plug that plugs on to the bottle as its slightly different to the corrado , parts are alot cheaper then corrado , last time i looked iirc it was like £35 + for a rado vr6 bottle and the mk4 is less then £20 ,
-
Aye looks like its leaking through the over flow so either a new corrado vr6 coolant cap to fix the issue at hand, but getting a new coolant bottle should be on your things to do list as it improves the engine bay alot! being able to see fresh pink coolant as soon as the bonnet opens is a massive improvement, the reason why i changed to mk4 tank and cap is there both readily available and will be years to come and there cheap! and easy to fit! just suck out your coolant with a syringe into a container and use a pair of water pump pliers to remove the hose spring clips, header tank is plumbing speak
-
depends on if its vr6 or 4 cylinder model as vr6's have a wider track, i wouldn't want 9j on the front of a vr tbh,
-
new purchase looks good , need more pics tho eh ;) gearbox mount link, not sure on the quality http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-GOLF-VENTO-CORRADO-VR6-GEARBOX-MOUNT-C581-/190373294462?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&fits=Model%3ACorrado&hash=item2c5321f17e

haha think hes being sarcastic ;) also remember my first drive with 2.8 ! and i was over the frikin moon with it so can only imagine what the 3.2's like!..
-
ah that sux, just teething issuses though, whats the crack with Power steering? you changed fluids at all?, a previous owner of mine had the pleasure of sorting out the bonnet cable issue by welding a thick steel washer,
-
cheers fla, the seats are really nice and supportive in corners too, really happy about that purchase especially with how little they cost, yea with the diagnostic plug , originally in that place i had a plastic blank and i intended to modify it so it would go back on but i couldn't make it work, ash tray in rear ish center might make a nice plug location? iirc old audis had them there,
-
you have that exact drain on the passenger side aswell, other then that theres no other scuttle tray drain, if you trace your throttle cable back it could maybe come in through there, ideally you want to remove the seats {5min job}and pull the carpet back and let it all dry out otherwise it will stay damp for ages, damp, mold, smell etc etc not nice. maybe pull the carpets back and get a hose and get some one to hose it whilst your inside and see if you can identify where its comming in, the normal corrado leak is on the passenger side where the inlet for the heater blower is, theres a gasket which needs replacing, it also a possibility that its leaking from the windscreen because of corrosion under the adhesive

ah so its almost ready to drive for the summer :) recently noticed a whiff of petrol from around the hoses in the bay but couldnt actually see any visible leaks, turns out the stainless braided rubber hose i used had perished where it bends into the fuel rail! not happy about that as it wasnt that long ago that i brought that, i came across this stuff on ebay which is also the same stuff as my clutch hose {different size tho} just in stainless form rather then black oem looking nylon {also has steel braid beneath the nylon} http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AN-6-8mm-5-16-NYLON-Braided-PTFE-Teflon-Fuel-Hose-1m-/381023190970?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item58b6c07fba its a pig to cut but look at the specs! haha these were new not so long ago! shot of that clutch hose , power steering pump with a slight kink on that bend, driven it for about 30 mins and it seems good! a tiny bit of noise comming from it though, i remember it being dead silent though, apparently that ptfe hose ^ can handle pas fluid and the pressure 90bar = 1306 psi and that stuff is rated at 2700 psi with a min burst pressure of 7000! so i might just renew that pas hose straight from the pump to the rack as they do all the appropriate fittings just to be sure, finnaly got around to fitting my uprated headlight loom which is now probably out dated lol, along with osram nightbreakers. water proofed the relay with a bag , havnet driven it at night yet so cant comment on that yet , also fitted a reproduction headlight switch from matt on here , im actually really impressed with it so far , it illuminates red with ign ON and turns green when the lights are on, apparently its all LED lit aswell so you wont get the heat of the old bulbs, just need to get a fuse/holder and fuse the earth , interiors good! just need to put the plastics back on the boot lid , just clay bared the bonnet and a cut with farecla G3 compound so tomo ill be giving it a polish and wax! and the rest of the car to follow and after that, thats all im doing until the winter, plans are bmw battery boot lead setup to create space for oem airbox with cold air feed and tidy the bay , want the inlet manifold oem silver so im on the look out for that paint code if anyone knows it? looks simialr to reflex silver? i want the bay to have an oem unclutterd ish look but wont be smoothing anything!

Thanks bud , didnt see your post till now, yea you best get on it! 7 years!long time! saying that iv had mine now for quite some time even though it doesnt feel like it, inspiration and motivation are the best things for these forums makes stuff happen then again some people bite off more then they can chew at once and just as quick as that motivation came it went! been there felt that but came out in one piece! another update comming just waiting for this lap top to import images! so slow!!

Jim Bowen Corrado VR6 - New engine build
VW_OwneR_85 replied to Jim Bowen's topic in Members Gallery
awesome good job! looking clean n tidy, -
have you looked into why they are both bent? can understand 1 being bent but both seats? a previous owner might have taken something? iirc there are some plastic bushs , dont know if they would cause seats to be on the p155 tho..
-
awesome!!
-
yea i know what you mean ,they all seem to have the same specs, the bottom one does say it fits corrado so should be ok, maybe message them for differences, took 3 days to reply to me tho,
-
right progress!, pressure bled from reservoir , got a few bubbles through then ran clear then ran out of brake fluid lol, But the pedal springs back better then before i even changed the hose! its really good ! , Need to put it through the "reverse carefully out of shed challenge" to confirm, but im beginning to think the 2 man push/pump method is abit hit or miss on the clutch side
-
this is the exact model i originally had, i ordered this exact one again http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Remote-Keyless-Entry-for-car-central-lock-KE669W-ULT-/360621012598?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item53f6aff676 however im pretty certain they sent me the second one down on your link ke669HC pretty certain its updated version and they havnt updated ebay with it, yea AH blanks, i already had mine so just swapped blades over.
