So you havent got much left that can go wrong mate.....just stick with it!
2. Just change the hose ends, peice of cake. You need what looks like an AN-8 (JIC) fitting for the new oil cooler, lookin at the pipe it just uses a jubilee clip to secure it into a 1/2" pipe. https://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/p/45-degree-oil-union-8jic-hef47-8
3. Looks like early one was Hella and then thy brought that part in house, probably to make it cheaper.
4. Thanks for the bolster mate, it was spot on. Bit worried about the getting the dash sorted, just need to take my time!
5. Had a spare half an hour this evening, striped the drivers seat bolster and it was as expected, foam bits all over the place. New one went in pretty painlessly but the hooks are bitch, long nose pliers were the key! Just right for resting my backside on :)
6. Well there were 7 left in stock and we have them all taken. They are currently being held for us as he's just checking 100% that they are an exact match for our existing wheels. Should know tomorrow....I hope
7. Anyone know if this is still available? Can't find anything online. Removed mine during my heater matrix swap and I may as well put a nice new one in as it's quite discoloured.
8. Today I got back down to taking the heater matrix out. First I tried doing it without removing the dash, that was a total waste of time as the alarm unit had been riveted to the body work at the passenger side above the ABS ECU. Due to this, the fan unit was wedged in and no room to drill the rivets out. So having wasted an hour messing about with that, I decided to take the dash out and it was a piece of p1ss. Everything comes out so easily with the dash out and would recommend that method. Heater matrix was a 9yr old Velo so glad I went ahead with the swap as 10 yrs is supposed to be the approx lifespan. It was last changed when the car was 11 yrs old. Scary wiring mess!
9. Looks lovely mate, is that Storm Grey? Or a custom colour? Hope you are handy with spanners :)
10. Really nice spec mate and looks good on the BBS, considered these in the past but could never get over the look of the dashboards :)
11. The main difference should also be that the plastic parts will not be all worn and shiney. My wheel is actually in really good nick, no cuts or grazes and the stitching is all sound, but the whole thing is very shiney and smooth. Massive contrast when I get in my Mk7 golf
12. It's insane, bits of thin wire soldered into much thicker wires. Already removed the tracker today with about 10ft of random wiring that wasn't connected to anything in the end. Once the dash is out, I should be able to take my time and pick through it all. Wondering if I should do OBD2 while I'm at it?
13. That's at least part of the water problem for sure. I used to have an Mk2 and both membranes were torn from a bad speaker install. It was enough to put an inch of water in the rear foot wells.
14. Still not got the dash out yet, just making sure I label everything properly first! There is a fair bit of loom attached to the top of the dash via clips. Does all that need to be us clipped or can it be unplugged somewhere? Also realised just how badly bodged the wiring loom is from the alarm fitting, once I peeled the tape back there are horrible things like 30A red cables, spliced and extended using 2 bits of speaker wire....I **** you not Will take some pics, I am actually pretty angry as some of this wiring could have caused a fire when I had my kids locked up in car seats in the back. Going to see how bad it is once the dash is out but I might just replace the looms that are effected, if I can't repair them easily enough. On the plus side, my drivers seat bolster arrived from the Clumpster yesterday, it's a peach!
15. Peter at classic parts is on the case but he just said "it is taking a bit of time" in his last email on Friday afternoon.
16. Haha tell me about it, cars in bits again, needing yet more cash. That 728i I bought for £500 has been sound so far, 560 miles of cheap as chips driving :)
17. How did you get a 10% discount? Are they doing a CCGB deal?
18. Technically the deadline past but as we're waiting on them to 100% clarify the part number, you can sneak in if you get your payment over sharpish :) I've PMed you the details. Cheers Ron
19. Cool, I think the Febi one should be decent, they are an OE supplier too.
20. Febi brand should be decent? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FEBI-15904-VW-Corrado-2-9-VR6-92-96-Coupe-HEATER-MATRIX-/200993089905?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2ecc1f2971
21. Thanks Sean, I already have the clocks out as I removed the steering wheel so they came out easy. Busy weekend ahead. Need to find a decent brand of heater matrix, the ones from ECP are a ****e brand I have never heard of. Would like a Beru/Hella if I can find one.
22. Superb advice guys, I managed to get that final screw out this morning using the ratchet technique :) Any tips on getting the dash screws out (locations) and also removing the dash? My steering column is locked in place, took the adjuster out and replaced the spring with a bolt (totally sorts the steering column movement) but means I cant drop the steering column out of the way without some hassle. Do I need to remove the steering cowling to remove the dash?
