1. Cheers matey, need to focus on my house now as we moved in 4month ago and I've been in the garage the whole time. Will get the RHs on again for the next meet as need to sort arches, tyres etc Convoy sounds good mate.......not sure about the slow bit though :)
2. Hi guys, Bought some lamin-x to protect my front indicators and fogs. Fogs were easy but the indicators have raised text on them. Will that be ok to Appy over or do I need to sand the text off? Cheers Ron
3. Oh man, I wouldn't go that far mate. Yours looks absolutely crackin! Haha well I will have just driven 250 miles in Autumn weather so it may well be covered in mud when I get there. Also going to be back on the Monty IIs for the RR day. I am pleased with the RH cups and will likely keep them but I'm going to need a 195 width tyre on the back and maybe a 10mm spacer rather than the 15mm that is in the pics.......then I may get away with it without rubbing. They are ET35 but the tyres are bloody chunky! Only a couple of jobs left, need to swap the heater controls our (I have some working ones) and also the rear interior door cards are missing some clips and so rattle like a Biatch, got clips ready to go. Small coolant leak from the Rad, I have a Hella one ready to go on over winter.
4. Just got my car back together for the Stealth RR day
5. Waxed up and ready to go. Finally got some decent pics, although wasn't very sunny so not much zing coming from the Blackberry paint. Really would like opinions on the wheels too?
6. Hi Jim, I'm probably not going to get there until about 10-10:30 as its a long drive. I plan to set off at 6:30am. Will that be OK?
7. I used a double skin 80mm neoprene hose, about £60 on ebay. Dont buy the single skin as the pipe is sitting pretty close to the road. You dont want to get a hole in the intake pipe.
8. Haha, welcome to the last year of my life. My kids don't know who I am any more......just that oily man that lives in the garage and occasionally comes in the house to wash his hands :D
9. Ok cheers Jon. I'm tempted to keep hold of both sets for now. I got the RH wheels sitting poking nicely today with spacers on the rear.....but they rub so will need to roll arches if I am keeping them.....or go stretched tyres (which I hate as the ride and handling suffer)
10. Agree Jim. I should have said, I am running an 8mm spacer in the front to clear the brakes. I haven't done anything at the rear. If I decide to keep them then I would put a 10mm spacer on. The back to push them out. Should be ok without rubbing as I'm not D1ck head low.
11. Bad news Dave but 180+k is not a bad innings for a vr6. Good chance to gain some more power if you fancy it :) R32? Or maybe forced induction? Or even just a 3.0 rebore, big valve head and some cams
12. Yeah, I am also starting to think the RH cups are a little too Gangsta for me. The car looks OEM+ with the Montys.
13. http://auto-spinka.pl/en_GB/index Took only 3 days to arrive! Still having some doubts over my wheel choice with the RH cups. While the finish is beutiful on them (really deep laquer) they look small due to the deep dish. The Monty IIs have spokes that go right to the edge of the rim and so the wheels looked bigger. What do you guys think?
14. Cheers Jim, I missed a lot of the shows and events this year as the car was in bits. Went to Stamford at the start of the year, saw how nice some of the cars were and thought "I need to raise my game" 6 months on, a few grand....supercharger...respray and I want to get at least some enjoyment out of her before the weather comes in!
15. Its all back together and working really really great (fingers crossed) I finally sorted my ABS, light is out and the brake pedal feels better for some reason, may just be a placebo effect but doesn't seem to travel as far without biting. More progressive now? Changed my rear spring perches (seized) and raised the car a couple of turns. The ride is much better while still being low. Also added my VT gearbox mount and I had the rear poly (Renshaw) mount trimmed down by 10mm. The charger is no longer touching the bonnet when driving it hard. Gave everything a clean and a lick of paint. God bless Poland, I had a package today from a guy who seems to be able to get every possible clip for any car. Bought all these different clips that were broken on mine for £12 delivered from Poland :) half the price of VW heritage for the same bits.
16. Good stuff guys, I've got my car back together.....was working in the garage until 1am last night :) She drives sooooooo much better. Raised the ride height now that I've fitted new spring perches. Car is not rattling itself to bits now! Also chnaged my ABS sensors on the rear and my light is out, pedal feel also seems better strangely. Fitted my VT and poly mounts, droped the rear engine mount 10mm so the charger doesn't catch the bonnet. All good
17. I would go with solitudes mate. On a Storm they are the only choice IMO. Fitment with 288s has been a bit of a bugger for me. I had 16" BBS Monty IIs on and I really liked them. Looked good and light weight, also fitment was perfect. However I never felt they looked "special" I then put a set of RH cups on in 16" and had them done in Anthracite to set the Blackberry paint off. They look great (deep dish) but wont clear the 288s and so I'm running spacers and I dont really like doing that. Especially on a 250bhp+ car.
18. Hi Mike, Fingers crossed you'll get some of you cash back. Sounds like a bloody nightmare! The hunting is more than likely casued by you not having a straight inlet track to your MAF. The Charger causes turbulence and this makes the idle choppy and prone to stalling. I ran an 80mm tube from the charger to the passenger side (along the cross member) and mounted my MAF by the front engine mount and an airfilter in the corner of the passenger side bumper. My idle is now smoother than a standard VR6 and I have poly mounts......that is smooth! 288s are a lot better than 280s although I also did my hoses (steel braided) and upgraded the pads too. Pedal still travels a fair bit before they really bite. Some folks on here have said that is how they like them as the braking is progressive. Althought I drive a MK7 golf as my daily and when I get in the Corrado I always crap myself as it feels like the pedal drops 2" before any braking happens in comparisson ;)
19. Good result in the end Mike, did you get anything back of the German company? Also which Vortech charger did you go with?
20. Loom will make a night and day difference so try that first. My Raddo lights with a loom upgrade and Nightbreaker bulbs has better headlights than my MK7 Golf! Without the loom it was like having candles for lights
21. Great to hear that as it's a very good description of what I mean. My 340bhp 1.8T took off like a bloody uncagged bull, could be terrifying and dangerous and I could never drive that car on the limit as it was just too lary. The SC Vr6 is a true gent to drive, nothing unexpected and the delivery is smooth. Only thing that would indicate it is boosted is the "Airwolf" style howl as the revs climb. Otherwise you would just think it is a 3.2ltr VR6 engine. My car is scattered across the garage in bits again :( in a rush to get it together for the RR day now!
22. A very good result indeed! The bay looks super smooth too, well done mate. How do you find the power delivery? I ask as I was a little disapointed with mine in comparison to a 1.8T with the same power. Once you get used to keeping the revs up then you can feel the difference but initially, under 4K rpm there is not much difference to stock with mine at 6psi. I had a 1.8T running an IHI Vf34 with a variable boost controller. On the lowest setting it would make 260bhp (340 on full boost) and that felt savage in comparison to the Corrado, so much power and torque. The SC VR6 basically drives like a normal VR6 but with more power, still peaky!
23. Mate, almost set the damn car alight and had rid of it today. Took me way too long to change the ABS sensors and I managed to break one in the process......bugger bugger....shwit...fook
