Ever since I got my VR in January i've put every bill into a service wallet (this is in addition to the one from the last 15 years). I'm tempted (but also scared!) to add it all up as I reckon it'll be around £3,000 And the car looks standard, lol. Has anyone added there running costs up and what are you running at so far?

My Drivers seat has the most annoying creak which appears to be coming from the base but it only happens when i'm in the car and turning corners etc. It's driving me mental and i'm wondering if anyone has any success curing creaking? :(

Corrado burned out near Milton Keynes?

I'm not registered on E38. But if it had the usual E38 modifications it was probably a more dignified end to a Corrado. -
Well. More an impulse thing really. But someone is coming to look at it to potentially buy it tomorrow. So if I can make £300 profit selling it I can get new rear calipers for the Honda (therefore meaning it will pass it's upcoming MOT) and get some change. All for a days cleaning and £50 on parts :) By the way. It's not awful to drive because it's broken. All MKIV's are like that apparently! :D
-
It's not recommend by manufacturers to run winter tyres on only one axle. Otherwise your rear end will be trying to overtake the front downhill etc!

For the lovers of 'classic' rock or acoustic. Always amazed by Lindsey Buckingham's melodic guitar playing and production. His new album 'Seeds We Sow' is getting some rave reviews from the Press at the moment. Listened to it on the way to Great Yarmouth this weekend and i'm hooked! :) http://youtu.be/7lf4Z6MnIC0

Picked up another snotter (plan is to sell the Honda as it's a little too juicy and needs 98 RON). MKIV Golf GTi 1.8 20v for £850; bodywork is mint but needs a new front roll bar and centre exhaust box. It's also got non-genuine 17's so will try and find some OEM 15's :) Lots of MOT and tax :) My god, what an AWFUL thing to drive. It rolls more than a Bakers Oven and its slow as hell. But seems to get 38mpg without even trying and only needs 95RON. Interior is also a lovely place to be. I'll post some pics up at the weekend when i've given it a good clean :)

So whats the process for the ABS pump? Same as a Caliper using the two bleed nipples at the top?
-
Been obsolete since 2002 mate.
-
Does anyone know if the Corrado VR6 uses the same bleeding procedure as the MKIV Bora/Golf via VAGCOM below or is our system a little more antiquated? "I did the ABS pump bleed procedure after doing my ASR/ESP upgrade. I don't recall the exact messages that come up on the screen, but I can give you the general idea. In VAG-COM: [select] [03 - ABS Brakes] [basic Settings - 04] Group 001 [Go!] Once you hit GO! the screen says to depress pedal and hold You have to press the pedal HARD. Seriously, pound the pedal like you're about to drive over a cliff. Remember to hold the pedal down! The pedal will drop, the pump runs briefly, then the pedal comes back up. Take your foot off the pedal. I think it wants you to click on OK at this point. The screen says something like FR/FL bleed screw OPEN. Open both front bleed screws. Obviously, on each bleed screw you'll have some tubing going from the bleeder into a catch jar. Click on OK (or DONE or something like that). Pump runs for 10 seconds, pushing fluid out of the bleeders into your catch jars. Screen says something like: Depr. pedal 10X; bleed screw CLOSED Depress pedal firmly 10 times, then close both bleed screws. Click OK. You'll get sent back to the depress pedal and hold screen and repeat the cycle. It goes on for like 10 or 15 cycles. I never got a finished message, I just did it until the screen said N/A. It is easier with two people. One in the car pressing the pedal and working Vag-Com, the other outside opening and closing bleeders and making sure the master cylinder doesn't run dry (very important!). If you're doing this solo, put the laptop on the driver's side roof so you can access it easier. It's also a great workout as you run in and out and around the car. After the ABS pump is bled, you can then bleed the rest of the system as normal."

Boy in The Striped Pajama's - 6/10 (currently on BBC iPlayer) I could see the message the film makers were trying to portray. Which was essentially that a child can sometimes look at things allot more logically than an adult. But if you're into your WW2 history the whole basis of the film is laughable. - Pretty much all Children in the Concentration Camps were exterminated and the ones that didn't were 'runners' (mail carriers) so they wouldn't be sitting at a fence all day - For a camp guarded by SS soldiers, dogs and guard posts. The idea that two 8 year old boys would be able to get within 5 feet of a Concentration camp fence and that they would leave one massive area totally unguarded is laughable.. - The fences were not electrocuted. The acting was extremely good, it's just twisted history so much to make it all fit! So whilst you feel for the whole situation, you can't help but thinking there would be absolutely no chance of this happening at the time.

Was considering going to look as it's only an hour away from me, but the potential difficulty sourcing an auto box put me off. Also the fact he wanted more than £500 for a car you'd have to pay at least £200 to trailer home, even worse if you're in Scotland!

You're back :luvlove:

Looking good. I love bringing back cars from the brink of death :) Just bought a MK4 Golf GTi 1.8T blind for £950 so looks like i've got another project!

And people thought I was walking funny because of my gammy leg... :cowboy: t700bes and myself were made "Super Mods" in August. It's just natural progression really and people obviously move on to other cars and commitments over time :) VR6 and Toad are just having a break due to other commitments (I think!). Kevhaywire is currently busy rebuilding a 3.2 VR6 to put into his Corrado but he should be finished with that in a couple of weeks. Jim, Supercharged and Tempest are on a romantic* holiday in Germany at the moment hence no posts from them recently. *Corrado ;)

Hi all, After sorting through an excel spreadsheet of about 20,000 parts I have been able to compile a list of about 30 remaining slow moving Corrado lines in the UK that I will be able to purchase at a reduced rate and will offer to you guys. Many of these items are already obsolete but have been languishing on shelves in Birmingham awaiting buyers for years! VW are now obviously keen to move this stock on to increase space for newer models. Allot of the items are pretty random (G60 boost pipes, pre-facelift heater control panel for vehicles with air con!) but there are a few gems in there such as x3 1.8 16v centre exhaust boxes, x2 Corrado VR6 alloys and the last new RHD wiper linkage base plate in the Country. There is even a LHD VR6 Steering UJ...although I think i'll leave that with VW ;) Please note though this isn't going to include things like roof mouldings, front griles and door seals as these are still very popular via Classic Parts and probably already cleared from UK stock :) I will be posting part numbers of the items soon but they will be approximately a 1/4 of the original RRP :) Pretty sad to think that these are the last few Corrado parts that aren't shared in the UK!

You'll definately have an earlier MAF on a 1993 car. Now obselete at VW but Euro Car Parts still do the Bosch one for £125. If it's never been changed in the 17 years on the road I would get one anyway. My car felt flat and stalled occasionally when coming to junctions. When I changed the MAF car felt more alive and IIRC fuel consumption did increase slightly. It's a weigh up of cost vs hassle. MAF is £125 and a doddle to change (and could probably do with a change anyway). A £125 or so Lambda in a 17 year old catalyst will ideally need a ramp and allot of swearing.

The "what I did to my Corrado today" thread...
Pat_McCrotch replied to Jim's topic in General Car Chat
Fitted new front calipers, braided hoses and a near side front brake pipe (thanks to kevhaywire! :) ) Unfortunately the ABS pump now has an air lock in it. So will be going to work on Tuesday to put it on a Beissbarth machine :) Genuine 256ml calipers. £61+ VAT the pair from VW with staff discount. Bargain! :D -
Is it the one in Bedford? Reached £500 (but not the reserve so he clearly wants more) on eBay a couple of weeks back.
-
Dusty Mauve G60 LHD in Ipswich this evening down Wherstead Road. Followed onto the A12.

I take it you like http://www.28dayslater.co.uk then? :)
