  1. I've learned now. Always try and fix as much as you can yourself and only take your car to reputable Corrado specialists (Stealth and DG)
  2. A £2000 VR6 is tempting. But be grateful for what you've got. I can't even imagine the heartache involved in buying a VR at that value :silent:
  3. What side door clip do you need? Still available as I bought one a couple of months back :) Only a couple of quid from a dealer.
  4. I think as long as you use your noddle with it (support the engine with axle stands if leaving it sitting long term, use bricks under wheels, put the cradle as far forward as possible) I would imagine it would be fine. As RW1 said make sure your sills are definately rot free first though and have a prod around!

    corrado 8v

Red one on eBay at the moment but it's a Cat D and probably a little overpriced considering. Might be worth making him an offer.
  6. Cheers :) Next job, front suspension and brakes :) May invest in one of those car ramp things currently being discussed in the general chat thread
  7. Might make this :) ---------- Post added at 08:51 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:48 PM ---------- Signed up :) Always wanted to go there. If it's raining I won't be taking the Corrado (try not to drive in the rain)
  8. Is the nugget owner a member on here?
  9. Genuine with a genuine release bearing and arm. The non-genuine one comes with a release bearing that starts to 'chatter' after a few thousand miles. The genuine kit comes with a release bearing already in the box as do the non genuine ones. As krishen said change EVERYTHING related to clutch (bolts etc) as it's allot of grief to get it all out again.
  10. Just a couple of photo's after clay barring it for the first time ever. Not sure why I left it so long really, guess it was because of the fresh paint :)
  11. Definately check out Bills car. Yes it's modified but as things go will be easy to put back to standard :)
  12. Good man! :) Heard about this video since forever but now finally seen it!
  13. Parked up outside the front of a pub today. Heard some guy talking to his mate about it being a Scirocco! Then one of the barmen came outside and asked to take a photo of it as he "likes to get a photo of all the decent cars that turn up on the weekend" :thumbleft:
  14. Still lower than i'd personally be happy with. Have you tried fuel additive followed by an Octane booster? I don't mean the stuff you see on the Petrol Forecourts. Google for you nearest Wurth Stockist, get your fuel filter changed (if you haven't already done so), run a tank of fuel additive then the Octane Booster. Think how much carb and crap buildup an 18 year old fuel system has in it! My original green VR struggled to get over 30mpg on trip 1. A few hundred miles of rotated fuel and octane booster saw it getting anything up to 37mpg :) It's a long shot but for £15 worth a go! Or you could just be heavier on the right foot. Which isn't a criticism by the way ;)
  15. I've used one of these once before and died at least 3 times.
  16. Have you tried getting your code from the dealer? Theres a high chance they will still have the original code on file. New key will cost you £5 and save you allot of bother!
  17. Check your contacts on the connector to the bottle as well. Mine occasionally plays up every 6 months or so but a little bit of jiggling and electrical contact cleaner sorts it. Need to get around to replacing the pin.
  18. Nugget in Sudbury Suffolk this weekend. Exchanged waves.
  19. Cleaned my engine bay with that gunk stuff earlier today (nightmare as it ended up stripping the OEM wax stuff they put on at factory!). All seemed well until a mile down the road my speedo went up and down a few times and then stopped working. Assumed it was some water in a connecter and it would dry out by the time I restarted a few hours later. Fast forward a few hours. Speedo working again for another mile when it does the same fluctuation and stops working again! :( Engine bay wise I think the speedo gets a signal from the gearbox sender. So I guess the connector needs some electrical cleaner or a the sensor is up the swanny. Any ideas? :(
  20. A VW dealer changed the chains on my VW in 2009 but didn't change the clutch. When I bought the car and changed the clutch 4000 miles later the friction plate was smooth to the rivets and about to break up. Unbelievable that people don't change it at the same time. Saves so much grief!
  21. I've got one :) Is a fiver posted too much to ask?
  22. After living with the Accord Type R for 6 months as a daily driver it's getting a little unbearable now :( As great as the handling and engine are it can't make up for the boomy engine noise and average 30mpg fuel consumption. You can get it to 35 if you're lucky, but it's too hard not to drive. Whilst fuel consumption isn't the main issue it would be nice to get 32mpg+ without trying So, it will be up on eBay in the next week or so and another Shed will be taking it's place. Budget is £1100 (so anything advertised at £1400 on the assumption they'll haggle) and criteria this time is something a bit more unique and a defining feature :) Ideas so far; 2001-2003 Alfa Romeo 156 T Spark - Still one of the most beautiful cars made. Not as unreliable as you'd believe. 2001-2003 Alfa Romeo 166 3.0 V6 - Absurdly cheap and lots of option. Looks a little funny but i'll probably rule it out on the fuel bills! 2002-2003 2.5 V6 Jaguar S-Type - Rear Wheel Drive super comfy. Looks really dated though! 2002 Lexus IS200 - RWD and great fun but auto only :( 2002-2004 MG ZT 160 (the V6 one, not the 4 cylinder!!)) - BMW built, handle well, cheap as it's an MG and have aged allot better than the Jaguar S-Type. I love new car hunting! :D
