Now sourced a fan controller :) Didn't sort my fans out but at least it narrowed it down. June would be fine for the moonroof actually, or indeed a long drive / road trip (could do with a cheap holiday ), depending on how much you wanted for it! I'm also after a pair of rear windows and good condition script and rear VW badges in chrome if anyone has any :) Stone

If it's the same on the fan end as the fan controller end then I've got one you can have for nowt. Bit short as I only cut it to get at the fan controller but you can probably do something with it - or get new pins and recrimp them. Stone

I was quite impressed to find a replacement VR6 fan controller (357 919 506 - not 357 919 506A which has some of the pins missing!) in a 16V Sharan in the scrapyard yesterday...best of all it only cost me a tenner! So, what's the weirdest Corrado part you've found in another VAG group car? Stone

Exactly why I set up the group buy from Roose - the auto VR6 top hose is still available (at £160+VAT I can't see them flying off the shelves!) but the lower hoses are all obsolete. Lifetime warranty on Roose ones ;) Their 'OE' black ones look very close to the originals. Stone

I'll have to start again tomorrow then :( Four hours sunk so far, the old trim was glued on. I agree they look fantastic fitted, just a pain getting them together! -

There's no need for that thanks, I did read it. You can tell I ground the wiper bracket down because the area that doesn't fit is on the opposite side! I rerouted the bonnet ground strap to give more clearance. I don't have many clips, how many do you recommend to keep the windscreen trim in place? I used six or so because without them it wasn't sitting right. -
I got some free with a spoiler motor

So urgent you asked twice? Can't you buy him a baseball cap?

SpoonFedTuning One Piece Lower Windscreen Trim Group Buy

Well, my windscreen trim fit fine (though the top edge doesn't sit very flush with the screen), but the scuttle cover just won't go :( I can only get one of the rubber trim pieces on as the curvature of the panel is totally wrong - the rubber isn't strong enough to hold it into place against the natural curve of the fibreglass. Here's the left side as it wants to sit with the lower rubber trim fitted: and the right side: If I apply pressure the right side matches up closely enough that the rubber trim piece holds it together: ...but the left side is way off! Attempting to squeeze the gap shut just makes the fibreglass squeal so I stopped - felt like the lip at the edge was going to snap off. Is there something obvious I've done wrong? Not at all impressed as it stands so far :( Stone -
I've glued mine to the grille. At least any prospective thieving sods will snap the arms off trying to get at it...

That's exactly what I found with the MX500s I used to have - the bass was much better through the Skullcandy ones. Could just be that they're tuned towards the kind of music I normally listen to but they've very good drivers. Also the sound insulation means you can get away with much lower volume, which my tinnitus thanks me for ;)

Part of the reason was to get the spacing right...but it's a fair enough point, i'll see how awkward it looks on the day! Cheers, chaps :D

Is it wired direct to the switched live from the ignition? Mine doesn't run with the engine on...:(

A Mk3 Golf (or Jetta etc) with the 2.8 litre VR6 - they survived longer than the Corrado and were available in OBD2. That's how people convert Corrados... Stone

Not sure why you would though in fairness - I bought something off 42DD (snicker) last week. Awesome didn't stock it so wanted to order it from them, get it sent to their shop, then unpack and repack it, send it to me and bill me for the extra postage :confused4: Buying direct is easy - they take Paypal and are very responsive on the emails. Don't see why anyone wouldn't just get it from them really... Shame you didn't mention this a week ago, could have shared postage :) Stone

Because their recess is quite deep and having looked at the end results of both I prefer doing it the hard way :) To clarify - I wasn't planning to swap bumper skins wholesale, I was planning to cut the endmost 16" off my bumper skin and replace with the endmost 16" off the USA bumper. The bumper needs respraying anyway so I reckon plastic-welding on the whole of both ends will give the best outcome; probably the easiest for the body shop to do as well! So really the question is, is the end portion of the bumpers the same between models - or close enough that the body shop can match it up? Stone

Link was in the post - someone should change the board's colour scheme! (click 'these')
-
Quick one - are the front bumper skins interchangeable between models? My respray is going to feature a swap to USA side markers instead of the indicator repeaters (on my Euro bumper so I keep the plate recess) and I've been offered the ends off an American G60 bumper skin to graft onto mine - but I don't know if it'll work if the bits aren't from a late-style bumper. Any ideas? I've a sneaking suspicion the answer is no because of the VR's wider track... Stone

Skullcandy ink'd - excellent sound with deep bass, and you can't possibly go wrong for £9 :D Very pretentious branding but they come in tons of colours (including plain black!) so you can pick whatever you like. I moved on from a set of Sennheiser MX500 which were more expensive :thumbleft: edit: I should add that they have VERY good sound insulation which may upset your colleagues at work - mine keep having to nudge me when my phone rings as I can't hear it! Under no circumstances use them in the car... Stone

Marching ever-closer to getting things sorted :) Need a moonroof with the slider in whatever the beige/white headlining colour is that goes with black leather, to fit a late VR. Must be working perfectly! Happy to pay extra on top / buy dinner if there's any chance of a hand fitting it... Also a working VR6 fan controller. Also if someone's got one of these kicking about that would be smashing :D (clip between ISV hose and two coolant hoses on throttle body) Bit of a long shot (probably have more luck on the vortex) but I'm also after the plastic from a US-spec front bumper: any condition as long as the sides are intact. I'm happy to drive pretty much anywhere accessible down south, or I'm up in Leeds for Elsecar over Easter so anywhere in the general vicinity would work. Thanks! Stone

Since you've found one now, has anybody used one of these? Price is extortionate but they do look quite nice :)

The swivelling middle bit looks like it unclips so that might explain why 021 133 687 appears to be only the lower half of it. A moot point if they can't even sell me one! Thanks for the confirmation, anyway :) Stone

I think you're right - saw that bit on Vagcat but can't for the life of me find the diagram with the throttle body hoses in! I was expecting to see it in WATER HOSES but it doesn't show the throttle body at all. Was planning on a scrappy visit at the weekend so I'll have a poke around there... Thanks :)

We've had this conversation before, I haven't got one ;) I'm going custom...standard red/blue isn't quite going to cut it! The plan was just to get some relatively cheap leads, whip the ends off and screw on the original screened connectors (since I think you have to use original-style ones to have any of the removal tools work) to see if I can get it working. If not I'll get Dubpower to make some, thanks for the recommendation :) Stone

This might be a really obvious question, but how do you attach fresh cable to the spark plug connectors from VW lead sets? I can see the brass screw that the wire terminates onto, but how do you shift the rubber boot back down the cable so you can screw the cable into it? Are you supposed to uncrimp the metal shielding part first? More to the point, do you need the metal bit on it at all? I haven't got the lead tool attached to my bonnet prop so not sure how it's supposed to grip - could I just use standard straight terminals instead? Ta :) Stone
