  1. Our group buy needs a set of VR6 hoses to use as a reference to make silicone replacements. Has anybody got a set we could use? Don't have to be perfect as long as the shapes are all correct. Would prefer a loan (we'd only need them for a week or so!) but I'll buy them if I have to. Thanks! Stone
  2. Fair enough :) Still hoping someone's got a VR that's standing and wouldn't miss them for a week or so...
  3. 29th works for me, be nice to see a few of you there :) Stone
  4. Normally a discount on the first set is to account for it not necessarily being quite right! Can always ask for a slightly increased discount on all sets instead. That said we haven't got any volunteers for hose donation yet! :( ---------- Post added at 2:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 2:07 PM ---------- Ah, I realise what you meant now. It didn't help that you edited your post after I replied so it looks like I said something totally different  Paul never mentioned any discount for the first set to me - I guess because you'd already spoken to him and he told you. The first I heard was when you brought it up! The only reason I wanted to organise sending the pattern hoses in was because Paul asked me to make sure they don't get sent multiple sets, and because I kicked off the group buy. There's no secret conspiracy to swindle you out of a discount and I think it's pretty insulting that you would even suggest it. I just want some new hoses, there's no need to manufacture a drama out of it! Does that mean you have a set of hoses for the pattern? If you did I think it would make perfect sense for you to get this supposed discount since none of us would be able to get anything made the pattern without it. I would have said that all along but you were the only person who knew about it! Get them sent off and we can all get some hoses :) Stone
  5. I don't seem to be able to edit my own posts any more. Is this a bug or have I missed something? ---------- Post added at 2:05 PM ---------- Previous post was at 2:03 PM ---------- Whoops, I hadn't read the whole thread and now it looks like I'm ignoring the two chaps above! I wasn't, honest, but I have the same problem :) A grey box replaces the edit field.
  6. That wasn't mentioned - I assumed I was going to pay the same as everyone else. Or do you know something I don't? Would be a pleasant surprise if that is the deal though! (in which case, yes ;))
  7. Well, we've already got enough signed up to get 15% off, so the more the merrier! One-day turnaround was the bit that hooked me... Just need a set of hoses for the pattern :) ---------- Post added at 11:44 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:43 AM ---------- (thank you for moving the thread btw :))
  8. Well, mine are knackered so no good as a pattern...(plus they're auto!) Has anybody got a good set we could borrow? I'll have a word with them :) Roose look quite good actually, not heard of them before... Stone ---------- Post added at 11:23 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:59 AM ---------- Spoke to Paul Roose, he said someone had rung him up about Corrados an hour ago so I guess that was robo22sri ;) Anyway, here are the details: For a group buy with six+ of us we'd get a 15% discount. They already do a Mk3 VR6 kit, that's 13 hoses and costs £320 before discount. If the kit we ended up with was only 9 hoses then it'd be more like £250 before discount. The 26-clip set for the Mk3 kit costs £43 so it'd be similar for the Corrado one. The clips are stainless JCS Hi-Grip and come with a lifetime warranty, as do the hoses. They also do free individual postage so everybody gets their kit sent to the address of their choice. The best bit is that once's he's made the tooling (approx 2 days from receipt of a set of hoses) they can churn out one set per day! Much better than Samco's four-week delivery :D Total cost including VAT and postage would probably be between £220 and £270 but this is an estimate. Add approx 10% for white, yellow, matt OE black and cloth-wrapped OE black finishes, and clips are extra. So, I'm happy to go with them since they're both cheaper and faster (and probably better)! This is very important: DO NOT SEND ANY HOSES TO ROOSE MOTORSPORT! Not without checking with me first, anyway! Paul has asked us not to send more than one set as they would just get confused. So, if you have a good set of VR6 hoses spare, please PM me and I'll organise getting them sent over. All further discussion to go in the group buy thread, please - hopefully one of the nice mods will move it to the active group buys bit soon :) Stone ---------- Post added at 11:26 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:23 AM ---------- link to group buy thread ---------- Post added at 11:26 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:26 AM ---------- link to group buy thread
  9. Quick update: spoke to Paul Roose on the suggestion of some others. Anyway, here are the details: For a group buy with six+ of us we'd get a 15% discount. 10. That's a 7 hose kit. Trust me, Amber are cheapest on the 9-hose, spent hours looking yesterday ;)
  11. Ultrasonic bath full of meths or IPA (no, not India pale ale) would do it - a mate who used to make jewellery had one. It did a cracking job on PCBs, they looked factory-fresh! Between £30 and £80 on eBay should get you a decent one.
  12. In fact if you stick a cheap cone filter on you'll lose power as they normally have nothing stopping them from sucking in hot engine bay air! Go for a performance filter or a replacement airbox (eg CDA) if you want more noise from the loud pedal ;)
  13. There are still a lot being broken - it'll be interesting to see what happens when the parts supply dries up. I'm getting plenty of OEM bits in before I miss out  As for mods, I'm not a big fan of stock - way too high and the ancillaries (lights, wipers) are so poor you'd stuggle as a daily. As I gradually replace things I'm improving the spec a little - hence the CDA, Lupo wipers, 312s...I very much doubt it'll ever pay me back but hopefully it'll stay nice for a good long while :) Stone

    roof trims

Just peel upwards from the front. They're a tight fit and there's a length of double-sided tape sticking them down - if it's anything like mine it'll be long-dead! Make sure you get all the sticky stuff off before painting, and don't pull on the plastic hinge covers at the tailgate end, you'll break them. I couldn't get the trim to sit properly when I put it back though, it's so annoying I'm getting the roof smoothed during the respray ;) Stone
  15. Go on then, I've set a feeler up here. Go mad! Stone
  16. This group buy is for Corrado VR6 silicone hose kits from Roose Motorsport. Tooling for the silicone hoses will be modelled off this specimen set kindly donated by beastie4126, with the addition of three further hoses from the set Roose sell for the Mk3 VR6 to make a total of 9 hoses in the kit. This is exactly the same as the nine-hose Samco kit. This is the set you'll be getting! (not necessarily in orange ) The hoses are split into two kits - one containing just the two radiator hoses, and one containing the other 7 hoses. You need both for a full set. Prices: Pair of radiator hoses: £85 retail, £72.25 with group discount Remaining 7 hoses: £210 retail, £178.50 with group discount Clip kit for radiator hoses: £8.50 retail, £7.23 with group discount Clip kit for accessory hoses: £23 retail, £19.55 with group discount A full set including clips costs £326.50 retail but £277.53 with discount so we all save around £49. These prices include VAT so 20% cheaper than Samco, plus lifetime warranty on all clips and hoses, plus short turnaround makes me a pretty happy camper! Order direct from Roose Motorsport by calling 01522 787187 or emailing them at [email protected] . They have made two sets of tooling so will be able to produce a maximum of two kits per day - your order will be fulfilled when you reach the front of the queue, which should be much faster than Samco's 4-6 week lead time! All hoses and clips are sold with a lifetime warranty. Available colours are: Blue, Red, Gloss Black, Lime Green, Orange White, Yellow, OE Black (matte finish, no logo, looks like stock OEM rubber hoses), Cloth-wrapped Black are also available for a 10% surcharge. We had over 15 interested parties before I lost count so thank you to everyone who put their names down to make this viable! :) Stone
  17. I got an advisory for my lines being corroded on my last MOT so I'd love a full set. Unfortunately I've just had to replumb my transmission cooler and replace all my coolant hoses! It'll be a couple of months before I can pay you, but I'll definitely join the queue :) Stone
  18. Yes, I've got a whole reel of hose repair tape until then, and the Mk1 if that fails ;) I've got no choice anyway - the bottom hose is obsolete and the top hose is £160! My Mocal should arrive at the weekend, so once I've replaced the stock transmission cooler I can use OEM hoses from a manual while I'm waiting for the Samcos. Group buy - could do, we'd need ten names though... Stone
  19. Hi all, Decided to swap out all my coolant hoses since replacing the two damaged rubber ones with OEM would be more expensive! :bonk: Couple of questions before I buy though: 1) Is Amber Performance still the cheapest place to get them? They're £301 inc VAT delivered on their eBay shop, for the full 9-hose VR6 kit. 2) Are there any active GBs / coupon codes / CCGB discounts that I've missed? 3) Is it worth getting the matching Samco clip set or are they just standard jubilee clips? 4) Anybody else gone for orange? ;) Cheers, Stone
  20. Turns out there was quite a big rip in the bottom rad hose as well which only opens under pressure :( Definitely time for a hose kit, I think.
  21. Top rad hose on my way to work - alerted by the small cloud forming around my nearside wing when stationary! I just know my radiator elbow will go when I change it, too. Self-amalgamating tape and the spare coolant I've been keeping in the boot should keep me going for now but I wanted to fit a silicone hose kit and they only make manual ones so I'll have to rig an external gearbox cooler first...on the bright side it's just after pay day and not before! Stone
  22. Bit of a long shot I know, but my top hose has just let go and widdled coolant all over work's car park :( Trouble is it's an auto-specific part (it has a T off to the gearbox cooler - right where mine has failed) so nobody seems to stock them... It's only a pinhole at the moment but as the pressure creeps up it starts seeping and at temperature it produces a fine mist all over the thermostat housing and rad fan - clearly not going to last much longer. Has anybody got one in the garage - maybe after a manual conversion? The part number is 535 121 447B. Doesn't have to be stellar condition (I'd settle for watertight!) as I planned to convert the gearbox to a Mocal-style cooler and add a silicone hose kit for a manual - looks like I'm going to have to speed that up a bit... If anybody can help I'd be very grateful :) Cheers, Stone
  23. Updated price to £140. If no interest I'll get them on the 'bay. Stone
  24. You'll need a jubilee clip on the MAF end, by the way. The CDA end is so tight you can do without :) I've got one sat about in the bits box if you want it?
