The 2.0 block is an ABA, yet. but if yo're going turbo or G60 use a G60 bottom end.
-
2.0 8v New beeltes and early mk4 golfs have them. As do a lot of SEATs. You'll need the lower inlet manifold and fuel rail too. Charger/ turbo oil feed tapping is already in the end of the head with a blanking screw in it (handy!). As for the water and boost hosing, you'll have to make up most of your own out of alloy tube and silicone bends. A G60 head gasket fits fine once you mod the oil way at the front of the head.
-
Not really, but you can pay me to do it for you! I'll post up a few pics of the head mods and the inlet manifold.

I used to be in F*, moved to a B, did they give me cheaper insurance? did they f*ck... I bet they'd have hiked the premium (funny how they call it that?) right up if I'd moved into an F* from a B.....
-
I took a few last night, will post em up tonight if I go on my PC.
-
The doens't bolt straight on. The oil return at the front of the head need modifying. and the bolt holes nee enlarging and the Rally head bolts(same as TDI) are bigger. Exhaust fitting is identical to the other 8v heads. Compression ratio remains the same AFAIK. I won't flow as well as a 16v, but my mates revs up to 7000rpm no problem. No firm power figures as yet, it needs the fuelling sorted as at the moment it's limiting it to around 230BHP. Once we sort the fuelling it'll be getting a remap, we're hoping for 280BHP.
-
I'm fitting 9x17" on mine. I'm guessing they are Porsche ?
-
Hate to say it..but...Serves you right!!! trying to get 400BHP out of a 1.8T indeed........
-
Clive, keep it. Unless you need the money for a deposit then just stick the rest on the mortgage. as a rule of thumb, every £1000 you stick on your mortage only costs you £5.30 a month....nowt really. so for the sake of around £30 a month you can keep your VR6.
-
So not one person is even interested in how we did it.......
-
It was on the cover of The Golf last year, black mk2 Golf. Shame they totally exaggerated the power claims and made him look like a liar........
-
I notice a few of you on here are going on about cross flow conversions as if it's the next step for G60's. Did you know it's already been done? My mate and I built one almost a year ago. I'll try and get you some pics. Oh, we used aT3 hybrid turbo instead of the G-Lader though, and a Rallye botom end.

I actually thought that was a Nova Merit at first!!! Impressive numbers !!! :D

Pics of New 288mm brakes and polished speedline wheels
PhatVR6 replied to PhatVR6's topic in Members Gallery
The pics are still on my camera. Hubs are the same, you just need the calipers, carriers, pads, discs, etc and the hoses with the banjo fittings. -
Just do your chains, and fit a decent diff whilst the gearbox is out. both probs sorted.

Biggerbigben - Golf sold.. another new project!
PhatVR6 replied to biggerbigben's topic in Members Gallery
oh, the joys of trying to get a downpipe to fit a RHD syncro..... nice work! what ARB's are those? -
No pics yet though!! I've taken some, just haven't downloaded them off the camera yet. Although I can confirm that the old Speedlines DO fit over late VR6 brakes and calipers, with about 3mm clearance, and they look the t1ts. can't wait for the frost to ease up so I can fit them. It's basically a 1996 golf VR setup, although I went a long way round doing it. I bought some cheap 312mm sea leon hubs, used the calipers and pads, sold the carriers to a mate in exchange for his 288mm ones and bought new discs and bearings. even with braided hoses the whole setup has only cost me £100! mint :D

60 in 2nd is b0llocks, who gives a sh1te??? I'd rather have poke at 50 in 3rd.....
-
You'll probably find that 0-60 won't be much different, due to wheelspin. as for 60-100, well, that's where you'll really notice it.
-
It's one of those mods that makes SO much difference but is virtually ignored in the UK. It's more cost effective than engine tuning, doesn't affect your insurance or reliability either!
-
now then. still got the old mk2, and the jetta, just got rid of the black mk2 VR. I still like mk2's, but they've been done to death now, and I've gone of the highly modified look now (I'm old) so the old shell isn't really my kind of thing anymore. Standard corrados look better than standard mk's, I've always wanted one, so I thought I may as well get one, so I did. It'll be getting all the toys off the mk2 soon. So glad I didn't pay £10K for a corrado VR6 5 years ago! much cheaper the way I'm doing it. I'll still finish off the orange one, and the 4wd, but just with the 2.0 8v lump out of my corrado. then sell it. I wouldn't put those fiat lights on it if you paid me though.....

disgusting..... :(
