who's good on photoshop? take off that daft side strip, fill in the vents in the rear quarter and the side skirts, lose the orange indicators and change the wheels and lets see how it looks. I think the wide arch look would work well if it wasn't soo fussy. think golf rallye or m3.
-
I love it, remember it well. Such a shame they painted it a poxy blue...I hate blue cars, far too common. deffo needs a VR in it. I'd have had that if I'd known it was going so cheap I'd have bought it. the wheels would have cost more than that!

you can buy my b&m if you want! open to offers.

He might have done/ They are ABT cranks though. check out the 1995 VR6 engine for sale £850 thread.

I'll let you know if I decide I don't like my red/clear in pro lights. I really wanted the tined ones, but for £87 I couldn't really not buy these ones.

can't wait for mine to look like that! thing I have noticed, the more you wash and olish it, the darker and less purple it gets!?!? -
yes, you can mod the stock ones. I used to make them, just don't have the time lately.
-
I think I'll have to do that to mine when they arrive, looks loads better.

It's about time all corrado's were recalled for poor headlinghts, sh1t wipers, water leaks, broken heaters and dodgy door handles.....EVERYONE seems to have the same problems whenever they buy one. hope you get it sorted.....never give up!
-
What size pistons did you get what CR? what jead gasket? need to know, I'm planning a 3.1 too.
-
Correct. You need to look at how the enigne is mounted. The SHOULD have used the mk2 sunframe and mounts. the front cross memebr can eith er be the m2 one, or a corrado VR6 one, either way, it's needs a modified bracket and a good quality mount (i.e.) vibratechnics. Fans, another bodge area. seen loads with mk3 fans thrown in, or even uspdoe down SEAT fans!! the correct way is a Corrado G60 or VR6 radiator. fits stright in, no bodging. suspension, should have VR6 rated front suspension at the very least, ideal, poly busbes, uprated ARBs, top mounts, strut braces etc. They CAN be made to handle, just don'e expect a standard mk2 GTI with a VRt hrown in it to work, it won't, and that's where they "mk2 VR6's don't handle" myth came from. a myth which I personally have proeved to be untrue through my track successes last year and I will personally poke the eyes out of anyone who I hear saying it because it f*cks me off BIG time. brakes, 280's minimum. if it's on 4stud, check they are proper vr6/g60 claipers, and not 16v ones with cut down pads or sliders to make them fit. also, there's variations in which wishbones, driveshafts and rack to use, but it's too much to go into here. basically, if it's 5 stud I'd guess all the vr6 plus axle stuff has been used. and if it's 4 stud, I'd guess it's mk2 GTI stuff on narrow track.

What do you need to know? there are lots of options and different ways to do it. Many WRONG ways, but a few variations on the right way. As a rule of thumb, if it's looks factory and drives well, it's a good one. If it looks like something off scrap heap challenge and handles like a drunken schoolgirl learning to ice skate it's a dog.... Designa Dubs are in Berkshire I think, there's nothing that Matt doesn't know about the mk2 VR6, he can do one in a day no bother.

They are indeed awful. I hated mine too. If you take the console out and grind away a bit of the lip on the tunnel in front of the main pivot bolt you can withraw the bolt and lift the shift lever out from insode the car. check out http://www.dieselgeek.com for a better shifter and a useful fitting guide.

Just buy some JE pistons and take it out to 3.1. AFAIK, the crank, rods and head and CR are the same, so other than than the overbore and pistons, I don't think the physical block is any different.

Beetle was actually called the Type 1, the beetle name came later, because of the likeness in the shape. Not sure about Jetta but Bora is spanish, I've heard the phrase 'bora bora" beofe, dunno what it means though. Caravelle- obviously dervived from Caravan. Toureg, brings back memories of the old Rowan atkinsons Master card advert where he sets his rug on fire. Tuareg camp fires, something to do with a desert tribe I think? Derby, a derivitave of Polo, from the sports point of view (remember, they did a Match, and other rubbish limited editions) Rabbit, Fox, just US names, they chose animals onstead of winds. Lupo? no idea Phaeton ?? Sharan = slapper off eastenders.

Corrado = a derivative of the Spansish word for Sprint. Hence the CCGB mag and the headrests on a Campaign showing a bloke running. Golf = German for Gulf, for the Gulf Stream Polo = Marco Polo, legendary traveller Passat = another trade wind Scirocco = again, a trade wind Transporter = because you transport things in them!

LOL! the soft get.... Even thought my corrado is pretty standard, it still gets a LOT of looks from people. you just don't see many about and they are SUCH a nice looking car, people just can't help themselves! De-badged ones confuse the hell out of most folk. I once got one bloke asking what sort of car my old mk2 golf was, even though it was parked right next to another mk2! blind b4stard.. -
I've got the box the bearing was in at home, I'll get you the SKF part number off it.
