  1. DON'T BUY A NEW ONE! You can get the old bearing out and get a new bearing from SKF for a fiver. use a stanley knife to....ah balls, I'll doa write up on it with pics and stick it on the FAQ. most VR6 tensioners are worn out by now. I'll start doing them on an exchange basis I think.

    boost

    I've got a 68mm pulley and chip for sale if you're intersted. 1bar = 14.4 PSI.

    GEARBOX problem??

what on EARTH makes you think it's the gearbox?"!?!!?!?!?
  4. Not fitting it for looks.....anyway, my car is dark, so you wouldn't see it from a distance.
  5. not sure about the CSL, but my old mk2 golf VR6 could keep up with a new M3 up to 120mph. they're not that quick you know, it's a heavy car.
  6. Saw the last one at ED38, and thought that other guy selling them for a similar price was giving a much better quality finish on them. as always, IMO. I'd like to see one of you rCorrado VR6 ones though if you can send a pic? oh, and it might be worthwhile making them with the dent on te inner rib to clear the schrick manifold.
  7. I used 2 bent welding rods and a screwdriver.
  8. They're not RS4 replicas, they're V6 4 motion alloys.
  9. 27 years old in order. 1990 H 8v GTI mk2 Golf, converted to a 2.8 VR6 2 years later, then a 2.9 VR6 a year after that. it's now got a rallye floorpan in it. 1984 B mk2 GL auto. ran that for 4 years, great little car. 1987 E 1.6 cl auto- broke it for spares 1989 G mk2 16v. bought it as a bare shell and fitted the parts in my sig to it (except the 4wd) 1990 H jetta syncro, still got that. 1980 V Derby 1.1S still got that 1994 corrado 2.0 8v, son to have everything in my sig fitted to it.
  10. It is, but once you sort that out you're onto a winner.
  11. It's enough. easily sorted with some proper cams instead of that tame sh1t VW fit them with.
  12. There's blue one with 17" Khan alloys on it always parked outside the pizza shop on Hull Road near Tang Hall. Private plate. same one?
  13. surely they are like that so you have to fit orange bulbs......
  14. Illegal to have 2 engines?!?! I can think of at least 5 cars with twin engines that are on the road. And the reason the 1.8t has poor tprque is because it's a feeble little 4 banger   :-P
  15. Because the BHP and the torque scales are difference.

    Borbets

try german eBay. or if you want new, Supergolfs.
  17. Just goes to show that peak power figues are not the end of the story.....that particular 1.8T is totally gutless under 4500rpm. my 8v has more toruqe. I bet it's an absolute pig to drive on the road. So when someone starts raving on about their "350BHP" 1.8T, ask them how much torque it's got at 3000rpm.....
  18. The track rods will be to long. fit the ones off the golf to the VR6 rack and it should work.
  19. Just thought I'd dig this thread up again, now tha I have dyno plots of dubsports 1.8t and also a vr6 tubo done by them too. I'll post them up as soon as i can.....just you wait and see the difference.
  20. Well, I'm ready to order mine now, as I'm expecting a 10 week wait for them, so if anyone else wants one the say so and I'll see about a discount for a group buy.
  21. the thread is not a good idea. someone could see it and then go steal the car....
  22. much better. It was an eyesore last time, I just didn't have the heart to tell you as you seemed so proud of your work!
  23. It's just shame that's the interior is the main reason they are special, because it doesn't appeal to many people. Still, I wish I had one....and if I hadn't bought my 8v I'd have snapped up that one that was for sale late last year regardless of condition.
  24. Insurance stinks. Get this, insured a mk2 VR6 for £236 TPFT. Changed it to a standard Corrado 8v they wanted an extra £50! then can get f*cked if they want any more when I put all the bits that were in the mk2 into the corrado. Rang for a quote on my 1.1 Derby, they wanted £256!!!! (yes, MORE than the VR!) but insured in my G/F's name, with me as a named driver it was only £170. FOR EXACTLY THE F*CKING SAME PEOPLE, DRIVING THE SAME F*CKING CAR!!! tw4ts.....
