1994 bonnet off my car. VR6 type Washer jets plated over (smooth inside and out), fully resprayed inside and out in LC3U Dark Burgundy Pearl. Stiffening rib already clearaced for Schrick manifold. Not got a clue what it's worth, so seeing as I have to give a price, I'll tell you that it cost me £150 to have it proffesionally painted only 6 months ago! (not the price of the bonnet, but hey it's still a price and it's in this thread! ;-) ) Basically I'm just trying to find out how much of my money I'd get from selling this and buying a carbon one to see if it's worth my while. 24V Renshaw - 24V V6 - Just read the whole thread!!!!

I wanted to go out in it too, but you took so long I'd gone back in the pub! Coxy was totally blown away by the whole experience. Reckoned it was quicker than my mk4 too! and drove just a smoothly. Considering that Coxy has had a few corrado's, as his old Vr was very nice, (and that he's driven mine too when it was a VR6 (albeit running on 5 cylinders)) he said it was "the best corrado I've ever been in". I almost makes me not want to go out in it because I know it'll be a lot better then mine! Said it before, but I'll say it again, the best Corrado in the UK. -
and I have a set which will be available very soon.

ooh, are they where the centre air vent used to go, just like where mine have been for the past 6 years? you want it somewher you can see it out of the corner of your eye. preferably with a really bright warning light too.

well, ME! yes, I've been a rigth c*nt. I hate selling stuff, and having to deal with timewasters. So I really do apologise for any bother I've caused anyone who genuinely wants to buy any of my stuff whilst trying to sift out the real dealers fromt he timewasting dickheads.

I got it a few days ago :-) looks fantastic as per usual. not so sure about the comments in there about no one having done a 24v before though! or the comments about it only being done properly if the expansion tank is on the left..PAH!! ;-) -
wiring so many ways to go about this. but basically you need 24v engine loom. matching ECU, clocks, keys (all from the same car) transponder pickup drive by wire pedal loom from ecu to fuseboard (to the coloured connectors). obviously, fitting the whole loom fromt he 24v is easiest, if you have it all that is. in mine, I spent a while sat down with the diagrams working out how to power it all up off the corrado fusebard, until my mate, who's a wiring GOD/GURU told me it's eaiser to just use the mk4 relay plate. Basically he just took over and did the job for me (which was nice!), so I now don'tuse the corrado fuel pump relay or ECM (ECU) relay. I have the R32 relay plate in the car, and all there was to connect up was a few power supplies (to replace the fusebox on the battery), a signal to the fuel pump, one from the ignition, and that was about it! I have the diagrams in PDF if anyone wants a copy. DBW yes, drive by waire wiring, easy, just plug the loom from the pedal to the blue plug in the ecu loom. done. fitting, I took the pedal box out of the corrado. binned the accelerator, and welded a bracket to the right hand side of the pedal box to accept the pedal. it took a few goes to get the postion of it right, and I had to make my own pedal stop, but it felt good int he car, and you couldn't notice anything had been alreted when using it (except for the increase in acceleration of course!)

VR6 Insulated Intake Power Gasket, FOUND ONE LOOK AT PAGE 2!

yes, but they have bolts, which are integral to the cover. so you'll have to get a full set of bolts and a new seal with the cover. also, you'll have to wind out all of your rocker cover studs. it does make a difference, makes it quieter too as the plastic is a better sound deadener. more OBD2 parts for you kev! -
sorry fellas, been busy all week with work and crap. First of all, massive repect to Jay, but I may point out that we have tackled the conversion with different aims and thus different results. Jay have tried to make his car as "mk4" as possible, whereas mine was kept as "corrado" as possible. neither is right or wrong, bith work, both look factory. it's up to you how you decide you want it to look/work and what extra work you want to do. Right, a breif run down. Running on the 12v...... don't bother. I butchered a 24v loom trying to do this. got everything connected up even the throttle body, then had to give up, as the cam sensors are totally incompatible. the Vr6 uses it as a hall sender, just a single pulse per revolution of the cam. the 24V on the other hand has VVT, so the ecu needs to know where the cams are, so it has a shaped disc, called a rotary encoder on the end of the sprocket instead. I guess you COULD alter it and add the magnet off the 12v, but it's a bit dodgy to fudge something inside the engine. it'll run without one, but 20bhp down at least. mounting the engine as Jay says really. all the VR6 stuff bolts right up to it. all you have to do is fit a small collar between the gerabox and mount where the top bolt goes. forget the plastic top cover, it does nothing and only hits the bonnet. oil cooler. it was in the way of the engine mount bracket. I wasn't bothered about making it fit, I just binned it and fitteed a mocal setup which cleared. hoses. I used VR6 everthing. at first I modifed the hoses, using a mix and match and cut down selection of hoses to get it all to work like a 24v. but at the end of the day, it's still a vr6, so you can bin all the metal pipes and stuff that route the expansion tank to the left hand side and just fit it all as it would be in a vr6, just cut down one hose, from the back of the head to the heater to fit. exhaust as mentioned, nightmare. use the 24v headers and cut the downpipe off below the flexi joints. make you're own from there on, try to mate it to a vr6 cat if you can (but don't foget the extra lambda probes, it needs all 4!!

well, there's a set of corrado xmas cards for someone!! amazing shots, I wish I had the vision to be able to take pics like that. a awesome car, awesome setting.
-
cheers. EDIT forgot to add was they a complete set for the r32 engine and do you have a part number thanks again no, it's a corrado vr6 set. I just moved the auxillary pump from the front of the engine up to where it sits on a VR6 and cut down the hose from the head to the heater.

yeah, LOOKS like it, but what's the betting it's NOTHING like it! it's a dream...but if anyone can do it, Jay can! -
nope. I will move whatever it rubs on, until it rubs no more.
-
I doubt it, so long as the bearings used are from a top quality manufacturer you shouldn't have any problems. FAG, SKF, TIMKEN, etc etc. Also, don't forget a very important part...the lube. I'm running REDLINE MT90 in mine. cost me about £60 to fill the box, but it's still nice and clean and red, doesn't stink either, and makes the shifts nice and smooth. are you changing the ratios at all? is a 6 speed out of your grasp (probably as much as a turbo conversion!) I found my receipt from stealth for my box......[whisper so the missus can't hear]£2600!!![/whisper so the missus can't hear] (i need to go contracting again, I'm missing the money :-( )

speak to vince and see if he has access to any of the gemini parts still. if not, then you might have to have a word with quaife, or have the internals heat treated.
-
I remember driving up the a19 one night, and just before I got to shipton-by-beningbrough my missus screamed as there was a bloke stood about 3' away from the kerb, waking towards the traffic. I didn't see him until the last second as the headlights were a bit out of line and pointing to close to the floor so their range was poor. so, she screamed, I screamed! but didn't have time to change direction, but we just sailed straight past him without a sound, and my misus swears he was stood almost right inline with her seat i the car and that we drove THROUGH him... needless to say....I didn't quite stick tot he 30mph limit just after that.....

I think I ended up paying about £200 for them as part of a group buy I set up last year, saved £80 on retail. have a look on the clubgti frum, they have an offer on samco kits at the moment.

VR6 Insulated Intake Power Gasket, FOUND ONE LOOK AT PAGE 2!

phenolic spacer. it stops heat from the heat transferrig to the inlet manifold. well, it's supposed to, but seeing as the manifold rund right over the top of the rocker cover...... fit a late spec VR plactic rocker cover, with a sheet of heat reflective wadding between that and the manifold. also, take the coolant hoses off the throttle body and join them together (summer only mod) I'll ask my US contact for a phenolic spacer to see if he can get you one. -
I'm going to do the calipers orange too. i did the 288's orange and they looked quite cool.
-
well, it took him a week to panel beat them to that shape. I now know why I never liked the car on the TT comps. with the line delted from the arch 17"s look a bit lost i there. I can't wait to get some proper corrado sized tyres, it should look amazing. I can't believe I ever considered selling this car.....
-
todays progress.... check out the phatness on that! they don't call me phatvr6 for nothing you know! OK, I admit, they are far too big...but imagine that rims 1/2" further in,a nd with a 245/30 on there instead oft hat HUGE 265/35! I managed to get the samco's to fit after all. I quite like the orange too!

old thread I know....but I'm thinking about doing this, seeing as I have 2 brand new rallye lights in my loft, some knackered old projectors which are crying out for HID's, and a knackered rallye front panel too..... tempted to try it out on my old front panel first just in case it doesn't look right. also, tempted to butcher my spare rallye grille too just incase it doesn't look right and I ruin my rieger one thoughts? should I even bother? any more pics since this thread was last seen?
-
WHY do these knobbers do this to their cars? eacj to his own and all that, but how can ANYONE at all think that looks good?
-
my mate has a 24v engine for sale £1000 for the lot I think. it'll fit just like a VR6, same engine mounts and all, even the hoses and rad will fit off your VR6. hardest part is making a bracket on the pedal box for the DBW pedal and getting it to fit in the right place and still clear the fuseboard, and of course the wiring, which my mate will convert a loom for £250 that will leave you with about 5 wires to connect up and that'll be running on the full factory management. 204bhp out of the box, 230bhp easily acheivable with minor mods. it's a no-brainer, it just does not make sense to stick with the old VR unless you want to keep the car standard. If you want any more info on that engine let me know and I'll put you in touch. have a damn good long look at jay's car, and mone, and coxy's and tell me that the 24v doesn't look perfectly at home in the corrado....it fits, and it fits easily. DO IT!!!
