  1. go for the ET20's I had ET15 9x16's on my mk2 and they cleared the 280mm brakes fine and stayed with in the arches so you'll be laughing with 7.5"s.
  2. cossie lumps are old hat. you can get just as much power out of a 1.8T these days, and they are relatively easy to fit into a corrado.
  3. lush, looks well with the black carpets and console too!
  4. climate panels are known to play up. ask coxylaaad for one, I've just give him 2! or, if the battery is going flat, checkand have a listen theat the fans aren't sticking on and draining it, if they are, could be the good old fan controller, which VW decided would be nice at home under the chassis leg...in the wheel arch.....
  5. I must admit, I've been tempted by the performance of these cars, especially seeing as I live about 5 mins away from elvington airfield, where Ten of The Best is held every year. But, I've managed to keep it vw for the past 8 years, and it's my goal to have a vw that will keep up and indeed beat these mental jap motors. for racing, yes, I could be tempted. for a daily drive or 'nice' car? no chance, they are horribly plastic and feel cheap. I can't help but think how crap the MX5 over the road is, it's so cheap it's as if it's a toy and not a real car.
  6. they are the same I think. I have one off a 2.9 if you want me to check? it's for sale too.
  7. sorted it! it was a broken exhaust valve spring!! it'll take me all day to write down how I found that out, and how I replaced it without removing the head again, but if you want to know, say so and I'll do a write up. I got a write up on 24v cam timing to do too.
  8. not a lcue yet, picking up the new roof skin tomorrow so I'll be able to take some pics and measurements for the guy to go off. I'll be sending off the spolier and number plate surround shortly too
  9. hoping to kick this off in the new year when companiesa re trading again.
  10. yeah, I'll do that first thing in the morning. if I can't decide what's happenign the head is coming off again. I still have the original head. I'll clean that up and fit that.
  11. when the head was off I gave the cam a full rotation so i could see that they were closing, and also to see what the seats were like when they were open. couldn't "see" anything untoward.
  12. There's certainly been no valve/piston contact at all. it's so bloody frustrating!
  13. your negative energy was absorbed by the wiper mech. it took the hit for you and sacrificed itself so that you may live. Corrado's really care about their owners you know!
  14. this one will make you cry!! Before and now.... wouldn't you love to know where that scrap yard is......
  15. That's gotta hurt.... Before and now.... wouldn't you love to know where that scrap yard is......
  16. I raced one in my old mk2 VR when it was a 2.8. Hadn't been painted, but the VR6 lump was in it and running strong. I heard the FTO first, lush sounding things. he came past me on a round about in middlesbrough and I gave chase. i couldn't keep up on roundabouts as I was running 17"s back then and had the car soo low they tryes used to catch like mad (hey, everyoon'es done it...) I out dragged him easily on the straights, I think he was electronically limited to 120mph.
  17. hydraulic. I have another head full of them worth a try I suppose. it really is running like a complete dog, it's as lumpy as hell. I'll take the cams out completely and try the leak down test. So much for going up to my parents for xmas :-(
  18. didn't do a leak check, but I will do now. I'll dismantle the compression checker I just bought and hook my air line up to the pipe.
  19. scratch those then. I've designed to design my own and then have them made up in carbon.
  20. and......it wasn't the gasket after all! got it back togheter today, still runs the same, still the same error codes, still 2bar compression on #1 f*cking fuming!!!!! and not got a clue what it is either. I still have the original head, but I'l actually tempted to re use the original engine, and fit the crank out of this engine with new bearings. more f*cking about, but it's not like I'm stuck for time, I've got 2 weeks off work. biggest problem is getting the parts (and yet more expense of couse) and ideas? got some pics of the lump to post up.
  21. hahaha, just sold that wheel actually...it didn't "work". I was going to get rid of the pink bits and keep the purple bits, but it was just too big. Start saving, it's not going anywhere utnil someone comes up with £1500.
