new discs are expensive, so if the discs and pads are good then £150 easy. if not, then maybe £100 tops. same calipers as 288's

don't suppose they are for a 4motion are they?

The diff looks quite far back compared to the syncro one. is that so you don't have to shorten the prop? -
Simple survey. Has this ever happened to you, if so, post up why. Cheers

impressive.

EDIT comments removed for the time being.

not picking, but the grinding looks pretty rough. are you using a grinding disc by any chance? try using a flap wheel (flap disc). It's a disc, but it's loads of overlapping bits (flaps) of coarse sanding paper all stuck together. Produces a much smoother finish, yet still can dig into the steel when you want it to.

So do you think it's their fault and they snapped them yesterday or do you think it's possible I've been driving around for 3 weeks with them loose?
-
EDIT: taking this off for the time being until I've had a good think about it and spoke to the garage.

No, we get blessed with all that cold, dense air instead.

You're both copying me! ;-)

of course. no point in having a fast car if you can't drive it fast. and you can't drive that fast on the road, so tracks is where it's at.
-
Yeah, been after a set of these ever since I saw them on Schimmels car. Started gutting the interior and engine bay of wiring. Chucked the front end back on as I'd forgotten what it looks like.

Nt sure if it was just VR6's that had the wider track, not sure if they did GTI syncro's too??? Your hubs shold fit if they are rallye items, VR6 syncro shold have the 72mm bearings that rallyes use, not the 68mm ones that sycnro's (and early rallyes's apparently) use. plenty more info on here http://www.vwsyncro.co.uk -

i don't like those poxy bias valves that vw use, they don't work and they always leak. -
should be perfect for driving onto your estate!
-
you should have all those bits already on your existing engine.

fit the wider vr6 syncro wishbones. there's your 10mm extra so you don't need to shorten the shafts. Then use front inner CV's off any mk2/3 GTI/VR6. 100mm. -
possibly the worst timing belt tensionner in the world

that's why I never buy pattern parts. complete crap. unless it's a bearing, that I can get direct from SKF/FAG. or a battery, which has to be a bosch silver top, or spark plugs, which VW don't make themselves. then it's got to be genuine VAG parts every time. -
he only had to cut and reweld them where they meet the bumpers.
