Or you could go straight for firearms licence and get a proper gun .22 rimfire or .17 hmr. Lots more fun power and accuracy and cheaper too
-
It's only a rough idea as my KWs turn up Wednesday and I wanted a starting point as I have non factory 16 x 8 wide wheels and that have caught on the arch before
-
I went through all off these ideas on my golfs years ago and the amount of work required does not merit it. I did not like the idea of messing with original hangers. It's not the exhaust it's the ride height. Trust me it will work and it's also the easiest way. Get a rubber with holes in so you can put the clip through so it can't fall off. Mine rests against the rubber most of the time and as its designed to be on the exhaust it takes the heat without melting.
-
Check rubbers as above then get the exhaust rubber as you first mentioned and use a couple of jubilee clips to tie it very tight on the rear beam. I know it's a bit of a bodge but as soon as you lower the car the beam moves closer to the exhaust. It's a very common problem on these cars as well as mk2 golfs. I did this on my vr 12 months ago and it has not been a problem since. It's either that or you can higher the car or take a mallet to the exhaust and tap the section in to stop it banging. As far as the rubbers go I would get some Audi ones as they have a metal reinforcement in them to stop the sagging. I think they were like that on the S3 I believe. But that's another way to elimenate the sagging.

Just wondered does anyone know what the distance would be from centre of wheel both front and back to the top of the arch with standard suspension on a VR6. I know it's high but just wanted a place to start when the new KW V1's arrive. Mine only had cheap coilovers on when I bought it.
-
Might be worth sticking a load of lube on the spoiler arms and the sunroof just incase that is causing it to strain.
-
Have now found a site that does KW V1 basic for £470 delivered. Apparently KW are on an old skool offer till end of month then prices go back up. Mine to be ordered in next couple of days. If anyone has found them cheaper anywhere else let me know ASAP as it very nearly time to order

If you want standard shocks try eurocar parts. They supply Bilstein for £50 a corner or thereabouts
-
Well that's shows the forum worked. I thought I had it cheap then we find it cheaper. I have just bought a rear chrome VR6 badge of the same supplier above chubnut he reckons they are also obsolete. He only has 3 left listed.
-
Well spotted, I imagine its from the same supplier I found but slightly cheaper as mass ordered. He also sell the rear VR6 badge in chrome for £19.99. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CORRADO-GOLF-MK3-PASSAT-VENTO-VR6-BADGE-GENUINE-/270728010141?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3f08a5999d Copy and paste link. Just going to order one. In which case forget the group buy cheers OSV you saved me some time

Right ...... it will be £20 per VW front frill badge in Chrome as per original. I am after those that will want one so I can sort a group buy. While I arrange this I will also make enquirers in to the other VR6 and Corrado badges and then we can sort those who want one once I have confirmed and sorted the price. So add names if your commiting. Once we have a number of takers I will add a further post for your to send Paypal payment then get them ordered. It will be a quick turn around and I plan not to drag my feet.
-
Did you manage to sort these badges buddy or are you still looking
-
Will speak to them again tomorrow to see what they can do with other badges. As while I have a recently painted Corrado badge when I painted my car I need the VR6 one. So will update this tomorrow with regards to other options. Here are the side pictures as requested. I am really happy with the finish. It had the cream/white inside as the originals have and I CANT tell the difference once fitted. Depending on the show of interest I could do a bulk order. Will sort pic a little later on. For £20 with a new chrome covered badge delivered. Its sits exactly as the original and has the same 3 clips for fitting
-
should be ok I have the other problem that they are too near the arch on mine but will check cheers

The "what I did to my Corrado today" thread...
Human Joist replied to Jim's topic in General Car Chat
Fitted a new front VW badge today, not that interesting in itself, however as you can see from before and after it is very good. Non genuine pattern part but delivered for only £20. Let me know if you want me to get one delivered for above cost, told by VW that now obsolete so presume there may be a few of us after one -
Hey all, I have just got hold of a company who make pattern badges and they can produce the front VW chrome badge for £20 delivered. They appear as good as a genuine one but I have been told by VW that they are now obsolete. My original badge My new badge fitted today looks very smart and it fits very well. If anyone wants one of these let me know and I will get I get them at the above cost to your door.

More work completed recently in the engine bay as I felt it looked a bit dirty. The intake was painted white and looked crap so I took it off and had it powder coated silver and while I was at it had the rocker cover powder coated black at the same time. It really smartens up the engine bay, Just got to decide what to do with the plastic cover as it looks a bit shabby. Either paint it a high lacquer finish or look at making stainless cover for it. Not sure yet But its a start. Then I have bought and fitted some leather to smarten it up. Wanted to find black but it seems to cost the earth. Managed to find this for £250. Long trip to get but worth it. The only problem was its from an early car so the door cards don't match the late switches I have in my VR so the old late cloth front door cards are at the trimmers to be recovered in leather to match the rest. Then today I have got and fitted a new chrome front VW Badge. I can now get them for £20 delivered, they are a pattern part but can't tell the difference and look allot nicer than the faded original. Will put a seperate post up on the badge incase anyone else wants one as I can sort for them

Cheers for that dude. It's nice to know they were good.

Have a look at an old a6 diesel. That will do the job if you can get one for the money. Just had a look on ebay and there are a few on there. Look at up to £2500 then you could always view and kick down price. As long as you go for heavy and high torque you will be ok. Should be a bit more reliable than Landy too IMO

You can get part and full quarter repair panels. However new cars like yours they would just remove the entire quarter along the weld and out a new one in. It's all down to hours now. They will know exactly how long in hours t takes to replace a quarter etc to work out the cost but if the floor pans gone and it needs jigging its just more money. If you don't want it back just speak to the insurance company to see what they can do. After all it's not your fault
-
Oh right so they ran both then. Think silver vr6 on back will suit better as its a red car. Cheers for your help
