Cool. Cheers for advice. That was what I was thinking anyway but don't want to get the set up wrong. Just need to decide what make to go for AP, Weitec or Bilstein. Any offers of advice
-
Further to above if I stay with initial thoughts and go with standard suspension there are also two other makes that get mentioned on here a lot weitec and AP. Both companies do conventional set up for a VR. AP's kit is £260 weitec's kit is £360 and Bilstein B12 is £580. All lower car about 35-40 mm. Has anyone tried any of these makes and what did you think of them. Any advice is welcome as I planed to order them soon

This is copied from my original post but have posted it here as well as I need advice please Right, research done. If I go for coilovers it's KW variant 1 for £639 best price so far. Most people on this forum seem to favour coileys but I am not yet converted so if I go for separate shocks and springs it's Bilstein standard height shocks for £150 all round and then HR springs for £171 then I need to source spring plates etc as mine has cheap nasty coilovers and they did not come with spring plates and other bits removed. I am stuck and not sure which way to go. HELP

From spending ages looking and reading all posts to try and sort what is the best shock and spring set up for vr it seems to be OE or similar shocks and hr springs. I am off to price up Sachs shocks this morning then price up HR 30-40 mm springs later. Will post best prices after.

Would agree as above as I have had similar in past and made mistake of telling truth and big argument ensued over who was responsible me, the seller or courier, then the argument over what was insured and did I pay for extra insurance. I learnt my lesson and the next time it happened I said it did not arrive and I got offer of money back or they would re send. It could be looked as harsh but the seller should ensure good delivery and signed for to stop problems like this

I know there is a main link for shocks and springs but most of the discussion seems to be centred around coilovers. My vr has them at the moment but I am not keen. They were on when I bought it last year. My old mk2 golf had them on as well and I was not impressed either. I am leaning to conventional shocks and springs but trying to decide what's best. A friend has a mk2 golf fitted with oe style Sachs shocks or similar and an eibach spring pro kit and his has always handled very well with a good compromise of handling and ride quality. Any suggestions welcome

Corrado late cloth interior. Very good condition

Sorry dude it sold and gets collected to orrow. If its a no show will let you know -
Hi. I have this advertised on eBay. I ment to put it on here as well at the same time but never got found to it, you I is how it is. Anyway it's a greys cloth interior with no rips tears or any noticible damage. The auction ends today at about 7:30. It's currently only up for £42 so real bargin. All the puctures are there and it shows the colour with a couple of close ups on the final photos. It's worth looking at and easy to find as there are only a couple of interiors on eBay for corrado. Any questions please ask. But read the advert for full details. Cheers guys

Matey, looking at the above pic with the close up of your rear wheel. I wondered if I could pick your brains. My wheels are 16x8j and when first fitted they caught the rear inner of the arch so I had to remove the lip to stop that and then they still caught so I had to lift the car. Question is I still seem to get quite a bit of travel in the coilovers that are not that old. Yours on the other hand seems to be wide wheels with a low set up and the wheels seem very close to the arch, did you have a similar problem and if so how did you sort it as I am nervous about putting people in the back. Is it a case of looking for shocks and springs with less travel or do i need to flare the arches. It now sits a little higher than this picture to stop arch rub. It looks fine, but at the height it was in this pic it still caught over some bumps on duel carriageways and seemed to travel quite alot. Cheers Jim

Its like he magnetized it and drove through Halfords, Anyone want to put up the asking price. If I put that ugly f*%ked up thing on my drive I would get linched by the neighbours. Its like he watched Fast and Furious and thought "I want a bit if that life" and got it wrong muppett

Cheers for the advice guys, I ended up buying a Kenwood 4047UG. Have a look on google image they look smart but simple and in keeping with age of car and it also lights up in green

Snap. I need a set of front late grey too
-
Matey, just seen advertised by James153 a pair of grey late door cards on new posts. He says they are worn but he only wants £5 plus postage for the pair. It might be worth looking at those to start with and getting recovered to match the rest

You can get anything in with mods as the guy stated above. Just make sure YOU can get in afterwards.lol

Project corrado - 20v turbo,deep dish,smoked front

They look better than what was on before, no offence to the chap that put them on, Are they staggered its hard to tell from that pic -
Just make sure you wont have the issue that they will sit higher. I can only just sit in mine without knocking head on roof. I have just put grey leather in mine and when I was looking for new seats I saw a refurbed matching interior with the two rear bucket seats from a raddo and old escort cosworth front seats all re-trimmed to match. Looked nice but the seller stated that they day 1.5 inch higher. That sort of difference will cause problems...Just make sure the overall height wont change too much before committing yourself financially
-
I would say yes. Mine was originally black cloth interior with black consoles etc. I changed for grey as that was all I could find and it looks a good mix, its quite certain that yours would of had black cloth originally, especially as its a late spec, not that it matters as I actually prefer the contrasting grey black colour. Another way to check will be the door pillar covers, mine were and still are black,

meant to say the best part. both inlet manifold and rocker cover powder coated one silver one black for £40 so well worth it. no hastle no hours of polishing and re polishing a few months later.

Have a word with them about the warranty and plead vehicle ignorance blah to see what they say. Have in the back of your mind what it will cost should you go elsewhere so if worst comes to the worst and they will only go half way it may be a case of cutting losses and going with that. Depending on the size and professionalism of the trader/company you bought from, you might find that if you play your face loudly enough and dont back down they may cave
-
Matey, I have the same problem, bought grey leather early spec. Decided it was easier to get the original late spec door cards re trimmed in matching grey leather at local quality trim shop I used to re trim my MK2 a couple of years ago. They quoted £140 for the pair to match the originals in the same leather. It might be worth trying that route due to how few leather sets come up. Or at least looking in to it

tend not to worry about anything else after removing battery. Just as above be ready for fire from carpet and bits left behind. The main thing is not to try and weld too much at once, stop and let the heat disapate or it may end up warping the metal and once that happens you have had it as its a real bugger to get that gone. If its underneath the warp does not matter but up the side its a bugger. a load of old sheets if you have to work with the door open as the spats will destroy the seats. Expect some smoke from the underseal in the cavity too as it heats up

Stereo just arrived so fit that tonight a Kenwood KDC 4047UG, wanted the DAB version but decided that as I normally listen to engine anyway not worth the time at the moment. Next thing is a better suspension set up and exhaust
-
For a nice touch get it shot blasted and powder coated before fitting to give it long life and it looks good. Anything from black to red, choice is yours. I have just had air intake and rocker cover done on my VR6.
