How to get those little instrument cluster screw covers?
guildmage replied to Redfox's topic in Suppliers Forum
I would be also interested in few if it comes to any group buy or something. I still have mine, but discovered today one of them got only one mounting clip and the other one lost all clips (attached on blue tack - eh...) -
- replaced cracked centre dash console with the new one (seems like an easy task but took me good few hours - and my back is killing me now) - finally fixed "loosing memory" on my car radio - had a go on my broken directional heater knob but not sure whats wrong with it - to fix another day - while removing all the centre console bits, gave a proper clean to all the plastics, switches, etc... - sorted out all the cabling behind centre console - in a bid to eradicate all the rattles - also used Hobbycraft felt to replace worn out on my clock surround ... all-in-all very happy, my first attempt on centre console removal, and all went well - I am a ninja :)

Forgot to report on this one, so doing it now (hopefully it will help someone else too) Part number is: 1H0253147B and in the end I got this part from Midland VW. It was £3.72inc a piece... and this is how it looks new: ps. Shame to admit this is still not fitted.. but will make it happen this weekend. I think I need to take some time off work, to accomplish all my plans.

question for those that run headlight loom /relays
guildmage replied to steveo29's topic in Engine Bay
Hi, this is my attempt on making an uprated loom watertight. As you can see relays fit nicely into the IP55 box... tomorrow final test of "where-and-will-it-fit"... and over the weekend, this should become an official part of my car :) -
Hi guys, I'm looking for a drivers side (offside) wing for my car. My rusted terribly and need to get replaced ASAP. Ideally, I need it in Moonlight Blue (LC5M) and rust free - so that I can make a direct swap... ... but will take any wing really Just to confirm my car is a late model (1995). thanks, Lucas

Yes there should be a clear/transparent plastic cover.

Thanks to yours' advice, managed to not only open my bonnet but also fix it so it will not cause me troubles again. And while bonnet was operational again, was back on track with this weekend project of refurbishing my headlights. Got new stainless screws in place, new Philips xtra vision bulbs, de-assembled and cleaned whole headlight units. All now back on car, check if everything works fine, admired it for a while, took it for a drive... and it is ready now for next weekend project: fitting uprated loom. You sir, simply rule. I owe you a beer man. Tightening it clockwise fixed the issue for me. Everything works as intended again. yay :)

Allright, thanks for advice. So just adjust the bolt bit by bit - sounds easy (but not too jinxed it - I am going to say, dam that looks complicated) :) ps. I have just noticed I put my post in Wanted section...

My dear Corrado magicians I have a question... Yesterday my bonnet shut and I did not manage to open it again. On pulling release cable it was only unlocking offside lock, but the nearside was still locked no matter what I did. I've checked on Wiki as there is a fantastic "how-to-guide" through this problem and funny enough, first solution worked :) - I mean pushing down on bonnet while pulling release cable, it opened my bonnet. So while I managed to open the bonnet I checked the following: 1. Cable is OK on both ends, nipples, what not - all seems to be moving fine (applied some wd40) 2. Pulling release cable moves the clips in slam panel (both release fine) 3. I checked if the springs are moving fine (the ones attached to the bonnet itself) 4. These locking clips inside slam panel, seem to move fine. They are bit stiff but they move by hand and also by cable As a precaution I removed grill and attached string to that nearside clip so in case my bonnet shuts again I will be able to pull by string (until problem will get solved for good). So I shut the bonnet and guess what... yeah it would not open again. Same culprit (nearside lock not releasing). So tried pulling on cable (the one I attached as a precaution) and no luck. I didn't tried very hard thought, thinking will try the "working solution" on pushing bonnet while releasing cable - abd again that worked just fine. So I'm not sure what to do next? Should I tighten that nipple (nearside) on the cable as far as it's possible? To make sure it releases fine. On my observation it already was releasing fine but maybe it need a bit more? Anything else I might have overlooked or is worth checking?

I'm sure mechanism works, because puling the handle releases drivers side lock, it is only passenger side that seem to be jammed. And pushing down on the bonnet locks it again, so if I can only unlock that passenger side I will be there. I gave up on this today tho, it get too dark after work. Will have another go tomorrow... meanwhile abusing forum "Search..." in a bid to find as much info on matter as possible. Saw a nice guide on wiki about tackling this problem so full of great hopes. It does seem the Corrado Curse strikes back, to manage to be locked out of the engine bay by replacing some headlight screws.. must be the fail of the day, surely ^^
-
I could be missing a very important point here. If you are after economy = hence you want to save money on fuel. It makes little sense to get a Corrado in first place. It is not really the cost of fuel that will most likely affect your wallet, it will be costs of repairs and keeping it running on daily basis. I wish fuel costs would be my only concern heh ^^

Bought myself self tapeting stainless steel screws to replace rusted to the core ones (headlight screws). Was a nice and sunny day. Popped the bonnet - passenger side didn't unlock, so pressed bonnet to lock it, and tried again by pulling release handle. This time it worked :) so replaced headlight screws in preparation for this weekend headlight clean up and alternator strange noise research... and decided to check again bonnet locking mechanism. Couldn't see anything wrong with it but passenger side felt a bit loose. So took pliers and tightened the screw/cable slightly. Before I shut my bonnet I checked if everything is moving as it should and it was. So full of hope I shut the bonnet. and now ... it's a disaster! Pulling the leaver only unlocks the drivers side of the bonnet lock, passenger side is still locked. I am sure cable didn't snap, also I'm sure I tightened screw properly. What else it can be? I am technically locked out of my engine bay :(

Will propably try removing belts and see if the noise will stop (assuming the weather will allow for that over the weekend). Regarding the timing belt - I am not a 100% sure. I own the car for past few months only. Previous owner mentioned it has been done in the past. Service book shows that it has been done at 93k miles (22/05/2006) - car is 123k on the clock at the moment. But in service book it only says "Cambelt change", right underneath the service field (it's written using different pen, and looks like it just been added there). Not sure, maybe I am too suspicious. Truth is, previous owner had the car for past 10 years, so it is very likely timing belt was done - have no real reason not to believe in that, but how can I tell for sure? I will be investigating source of this noise over this weekend. It is just my "to-do list" is ever growing. I will get there I hope, patience is a virtue :) Thanks for help, I will report back as soon as I find out more.

Have not tried WD40 yet. Not long ago I had alternator belt and power steering belt replaced (is aux belt any of these?). but still, the noise did not go away, was the same as it's now :( With the noise being stationary... I believe it is also when I'm driving, but you can't really hear it due to other car noises.
-
My car seems to make a strange noise. Trick is, it's mainly after you drive it for a while. If I start the engine in the morning all seems fine. Yet, 20mins later, after I arrive at work you can definitively hear it. It's repeating, "brush-like-sound" - noticeable only when stationary. Ah and it appears to be coming from drivers side of the car (right front-wheel) Here from the inside of the car: ... and from outside. Tried to embedd another video, but got an error so instead I am, giving you link: Any ideas what it is? And why is it happening after driving a while? Most importantly, how to fix it? ps. Tried also taking video from engine bay, but it's better heard from outside (?)

Changed bulbs in headlights to those Philips x-treme Vision and also fitted new fuse. What a difference :) all working and shiny, very shiny :) I am running some sort of uprated loom but it is not very good but meanwhile it will have to do - need to make a plan how to upgrade it in the future. I would love to have it with OEM connectors as mine been hacked to bits by some jolly fitters of existing loom (previous owner). Also paid my road Tax today and investigated boot light - for some bizarre reason it refuses to work... Need multimeter to check this out in details.

Totally agree. It was utter crap. They seem to forget what the show is all about. It is NOT about them... it is about cars. I wish they would just scrap all that fooling around rubbish, took some car and just done a proper test of it.

the indicators are still there :)
