1. Thanks for nice words, you're guessing right, I am from Poland :) Car looks much nicer on pictures... in real life? well, all little niggles come out ;) Like my O/S wing (arch) which is terribly rotten (I avoid that area on pictures , heh) However, I should have it sorted in 2-3 weeks. Even thought I have a ton of issues to sort out, yeah I do enjoy ownership. btw. ride in mine is also a bit "harsh" (especially potholes, and slow bumps) but on a nice roads its like a dream.
2. England? Yes, England. You know: fish, chips, cup 'o tea, bad food, worse weather, Mary ****ing Poppins... ^^ ...I know it was London not, England but I do not live in London, and the "worse weather" is still just perfectly suitable atm - since my last update it was raining every single day! Yes, England :) However, woke up this morning and hey ho... sunshine. So pulled out hose, all detailing products I have and managed to: - sanded few rust patches here and there, then painted + laquered - a bit of a bodge job but will have to do for now - wash and wax - glass cleaned inside and outside + Rain-X applied - full vacuum - cleaned leather and applied the leather cream - last thing is pulled one of the roof plastics as it wasn't seated properly and fitted it the way it should be attached Very happy with results, have a look at the pictures: ... as I uploaded these pictures it started to rain again! Well at least it kept me busy this morning :)
3. I had similar issue with my Nreg Corrado. HPI checks, paperwork production year and registration date clearly states 15 May 1996! But as we all know they stopped making them in 1995! Never get to the bottom of this. All paperwork looks fine to me... maybe I am the only owner of 1996 Corrado in UK :) Sorry couldn't be more helpfull.
4. Really sad news... Not long time ago Kubica crashed now Vilotta. Hope she will be OK. Not sure if she can ever drive in any major sports events (as in with just one eye she will not pass medical go ahead) but I'm sure she will hang around motor sports in some other way... as this is something she has been doing for whole her life. It's just sad... unfortunetly it happens, they all take risks.
5. I'll take for £20 :) PM me PayPal or Bank details. thanks
6. I wish this Higgs Bosson particle would be an ultimate rust removal product. Something along the line of spraying it all over your car, leaving for 24hrs and then rinse and whoila, rust free Corrado :) That would really be something or at least if Higgs Bosson could be used to produce rain free summer in UK! But on a serious note, it is nice that so much money invested in LHC at CERN is starting to pay off :)
7. All valid points, I agree. If uninsured drivers are main cause of super high insurance costs. Why such low penalties are in place for being uninsured? These should be much harsher... If someone is uninsured and still drives, then don't just take driving licence. Make him pay £10.000 or jail for 2 years and at the same time take away his car and destroy it! No remorse, no excuses! It would fix uninsured drivers problem instantly as there would be none left. So that we, law abiding citizens would enjoy lower insurance costs in first place. I bet all uninsured drivers in the country are without job already! They don't care if they loose driving licence, as they will carry on driving without it... it is just blind loop! I just don't get the fact that each year I collect additional NCB on my account, yet still my insurance goes up and up! So why exactly I collect this?
8. Lets just call by name: THEY ARE ALL THIEVES!!! No matter what kind of driver you are, how much caution you take while driving, how much you care about your car and how much you look after others. It does not matter! They will rip you off, will take every last penny you have... and seems there is no law that governs it at all! I hate this system to bits. I did some free calculation with my friend how does this relate to uninsured drivers. It seems if you don't insure you will be still better off anyway by like miles. Even if you get caught... money wise you will still be better of if you do not insure! It's insane. I am not surprised there are so many uninsured drivers around. At the moment ofcourse I am insured and will always keep it that way... but somewhere deep there, my heart is sinking. They charge me £900 for my daily 16v. I'm 31 yrs old, 12 yrs driving licence, no accidents or convictions ... and I have no choice, I just have to pay. Rant over.
9. It is very strange so many of you have this issue... I have been on the forum for most of today and yesterday and all is fine. Having said that, last night at around 00:00 forum was completely offline for me... and couldn't access it so decided to go to bed :) But starting from very morning today, all is fine again. I'm tempted to say, maybe it is some weird local DNS issue? Robo22sri, any chance you could try restarting your router.. just to see if it's going to make any difference at all? Obviously I have no access to logs, or anything else.. so I am as much guessing as you guys are... but that's what I would try if I were you.
10. I know this is not really any fix. But using an out-of-date web browser is really a dead-end in modern world. It may lead to random site crashes, may cause content to display incorrectly and most importantly can cause security issues on your computer. IE is now available as version 9 (in case of Windows XP it's IE8 only). Soon version 10 will be also released. There should really be no reason no to upgrade! Many sites are no longer supporting IE6, IE7 browsers - as these are considered unsafe. Upgrade to at least version 8 seems a very reasonable choice. Equally I would strongly advise to move away from Internet Explorer and jump into Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox or Opera. These are very good web browsers and really only IE9 can match them on performance and stability. If you decide not to upgrade, maybe on your current web browser you could: - clean browsing history (Control Panel -> Internet Options) - disable ALL not required addons and toolbars (Manage Addons) - as a last resort, reset web browser to it's original settings (Control Panel -> Internet Options -> Advanced -> Reset... - make sure you have up-to-date antivirus, and also download and scan your PC with MalwareBytes software to see if there is nothing malicious on your PC It is hard to track what could be causing your IE to crash... but my first attempt would be to upgrade the browser anyway... or just don't bother and try Google Chrome - it's amazing browsing experience. Hope you will get it sorted
11. Would it be the case of just flat battery? When I forgot to switch off the lights, my car would still open on alarm, but there was just not enough juice for anything else. Having said that, you would expect some sort of electrics (ie, horn) would still work... even when battery almost completely flat. Rain could be contributing factor here... maybe some sort of grounding problem when things get really wet?
12. Hi paxman, When you are saying: How much "ok" is ok? :) I need a set anyway so will most likely buy it off you (if it's still available ofc) but.. any chance you could elaborate bit more on condition or maybe picture? thanks ---------- Post added at 11:26 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:22 AM ---------- Hi paxman, When you are saying: How much "ok" is ok? :) I need a set anyway so will most likely buy it off you (if it's still available ofc) but.. any chance you could elaborate bit more on condition or maybe picture? thanks
13. It's amazing how elusive that OEM script badge is! It's almost like finding a virgin on a student campus... Mine is also in bad shape, would love to get replacement but it is so hard to find it! Hope you will find a nice badge for yourself (I am not looking actively atm so no competition from me ). Think whoever would make an identical replacement part would be in for a nice source of income...
14. I love this forum :) I have seen that cookie madness on so many pages now.. usually boring yadi-yada about this and that... Our forum is unique, you can feel it from a mile. Nice message Andi :)
15. Half way through looking at the pictures I realized, that watching it make me sad.. so I stopped. There are like two tragedies on each picture. One - as people got hurt, Two - as our lovely cars got damaged too.
16. Is this £20 for new badge with chrome finish? Or you have to provide them with your old badge in first place? Judging pictures it look very nice. Any chance you could take a picture from an angle? (if that makes any sense) ? cheers
17. Big thanks to EnthusiastOwned. Goods arrived as advertised. Quick communication and the feel of getting a good "deal". Ace :)
18. Script badge and sunroof motor arrived. Well packaged, all as advertised, thanks Rich. Much appreciated.
19. Was just thinking the same. I didn't even know such thing exist - like wrapping. I would be always dead worried that my bonnet wrap would just undo itself while doing 70mph on a motorway! Is that even possible? Really to get a nice car and then wrap it in plastic film.. you either have to be brave or simply plain stupid. In the end of the day, it's his car, he can do whatever pleases him with it. But the way I see it, this car looked so much better in it's original form. So to ruin a nice car by doing that, and to pay money for it !!! well that's something new. ps. Old Trabant was made in plastic (well duroplast) if remember correctly - one benefit it would not rust (ever! ) hehe
20. this! Just made my day. Thanks :)
21. Hi, I will take following parts, please: Can you PM your PayPal (or BT) details? Thanks
22. Another day of happiness :) One of the issues I had (very rarely) was that my clutch pedal was not returning. Especially if I held clutch pedal pressed for longer periods. It sometimes just stayed on the floor, could return it manually tho by simply pulling it back. As you imagine it was a bit annoying so decision was made to replace clutch slave cylinder as bleeding made no difference. After replacing, all seems to be fine, needs more testing and driving I guess. Tried keeping clutch down for like 5 mins several times and pedal returning fine. It also feels much "easier" to press down now - but not sure if I'm not imagining it. Well, fingers crossed anyway. Also I got replaced fuel filter as it was skipped on last service. Not sure if that made any real difference, but at least it's new now, so another thing out of the list of "things-to-do" :) Finally, as my old brakes just felt really, really bad. Front and rear brake discs and pads also got replaced today. I have been told to take it easy on brakes for next few days to make them settle in and such. But still it's amazing what difference new discs and pads can make. Now then, as a very last thing my ABS seems to be fine again! While at the garage (as per your advise) ABS sensors got cleaned and checked again. Been driving for a while today... and ABS lights stays off! Which is a great success, but... I'm not keeping great hopes... well will see. As you see... quite productive day. Shame it wasn't me doing the work but garage.. but I feel not confident enough to do such work... at least not yet (especially on brake system) !
23. Forum search is your friend: http://direct.the-corrado.net/showthread.php?42188-Gear-selection-adjustment
24. Hmm... I was lazy today, but still managed to wash outside and inside. Also checked (as far as my checking goes) every pipe, electrical connector, cable, hose, etc .. in engine bay and under the car. Seem all good - happy with outcome, took it on a short journey through some random roads.
25. Brilliant, that is my next item on my "little" To-Do list.
