Me again :) Am I worrying too much? I know its cold outside so temps will be lower than usual but I did around 15 miles of driving today, first 5 miles done in city at slow speeds, temps were mostly around 70-80mark. Then did around 10 miles on motorway and temps were again very similar. Now then as soon as I stopped on lights temps are going up slowly all the way to 90C but as soon as i start driving again they drop down quite drastically. Is this normal, I though temps should be around 90ish mark all the time, regardless if you stuck in traffic, doing motorway or city driving. Been monitoring temps for quite some time now and they are usually way below 90 when I'm driving. Also my car being 16v 2.0 - I'm doing around 25mpg on motorway, but in city it's more like 18mpg... I blame cold temps and fact I have 2-3 miles to work so engine will not really get warm up properly.

...and I also would be interested if new batch would be organised.

The "What broke on your Corrado today" thread
guildmage replied to krnau's topic in General Car Chat
disaster :( Drove my car to work and while opening work's gates I've noticed I'm leaking oil. Not just drops, I was leaving streaks of oil! I could have killed the engine if my work was more far away from my home. Hopefully it was just 2-3 miles. Now then I have located the leak to be coming from that top part of the "oil-filter section" (forgive me I am not very mechanical). Car is now at the garage, mechanic told me I had almost no oil left in engine and that I was very lucky. Now waiting for it to be repaired... it's always Monday isn't?! Still I am unsure if located leak correctly and if it's something that can be easily fixed. But keeping my fingers crossed (from what I researched, hopefully it will be just that rubber o-ring, but knowing my luck... ehh better not think). What I don't fully understand is, if I was almost out of oil there should be an engine/oil light showing up on my dashboard to inform me about it, right? -
There is a great write up about Corrado history on your site. Enjoyed reading it very much :) Was in search for some more detailed Corrado history for quite some time. Wikipedia have only a brief info and Volkswagen website bizarrely does not have any - which is odd! Anyways for any interested here is the link .

Snow? No Problem! Turn your Rado Into A Snow Plough!

Was just browsing through VWvortex and found this... To make sure you snow plowing with style: ... but if you do manage to get stuck, make sure you have some friendly ladies to get you back on the road again: -
Well, tried your way.. aligning it with passenger side mirror and also applying lubricate and it worked like a dream. I'm happy now, thanks
-
OK, thanks for advise, will do as I'm told. A bit of lube and should go straight in... gosh that sound a bit odd ^^

I know, I know, a very silly question but I'm loosing my head. My bonnet lifter was all rusted and ugly so removed it, cleared from rust and repainted black. Now tried to put it back ... and heh tried few times and can't get it back again. Should I first mount rubber thing and then try to push the lifter into the rubber? or Should I put the rubber thing on the metal lifter first and then try to put it all back? It may sound silly, but was fighting it for good hour and didn't get anywhere. Tomorrow my plan of attack is to put the rubber thing first, then apply some lubricate and push the lifter into it as hard as possible - unless you have any golden tips? It is a normal OEM bonnet lifter, nothing special just piece of metal and a rubber "band-thing".

Yea was thinking the other day what that can mean. I'm going to call my local VW in order to find out... edit: Called VW and they said, that stuff about painting and fixing is gibberish. They have still some in stock (only black ones) and they can order. But he couldn't confirm if these comes with those screw-in bolts to attach them to carpets (like the ones from veedubmachine). Think will gamble on it and will order one set tomorrow. Ah and the price is £55.00 (and I have no discounts, special cards or anything - just typical Joe from the street :)

A bit of resurrection of the old thread. For this xmas requested from my misses new floor mats. My old one are "barely" alive so decided to get something nice - hopefully it will also freshen up the inside of my car. I've read through this thread and looks like most people say go for the one from VW dealer or from vdubmachine website. Is there any major difference? I mean prices from dealer and from vdub are around the same (though I haven't checked prices from VW or availability). This being my xmas present, would like something nice... any help/advise? ps. also could not fine any picture of the ones from VW so cannot compare to the vdub version.

busy bee.. On Saturday removed front/back seats and took them back home. Then followed "jedi-knight83" leather cleaning guide step-by-step. Have to say took me whole Saturday to do it.. but while I was on it, cleaned also dash and all plastic elements of the car interior. On Sunday morning put everything back together, went for a quick spin and now getting ready for dinner and GP...

hehe nice one :D It still looks very much directed to end this way. I mean the driver uses seatbelts but she does not?! Still a very nice movie, watched two times until my misses said enough is enough :(

Lunch time Corrado fix: - reattached properly (black seat knob - wheel-alike-thing) on both front seats - so it is not wobbling anymore, - glued and re-attached properly rear seat trim panel (seat-belt plastic), - removed cigarette lighter socket and bent the pins slightly so the lighter sits perfectly in the socket now, - removed rattle from my bottom dash panel (driver side) - one that covers all relays, - found missing exhaust rubber mounting, that caused my Magnex exhaust to rattle a bit too - now it's fixed by cable ties temporarily until I get proper rubber mounting - any ideas where I can source that from? - found and removed a dead fly under the seat ?! poor thing ... also attempted to locate a rattle coming from "clocks area" but failed so need to look into it again - tomorrow :) I know little fixes but kind of make you feel happy.

I bought the Corrado with the OEM wipers and they were utter rubbish, yes they moved the water from left to right but that's about it. Smears, plenty of water, low visibility and that "annoying" judder all the time. Tried Rain-X product meanwhile and yes that improved things a lot, but I found myself either travelling to slow due to traffic or rain was just not strong enough for Rain-X to work properly. So finally decided to order the TT upgrade (thanks again Pat) and boy what a difference! Took me maybe 20 mins to get it installed and properly align... On first try it started to catch a bit of my window seal at the top, but re-aligned wiper arm again and it doesn't do it anymore. I was reading, you guys been cutting the blades or bending arms to get it work, but I found I do not have to do this - I admit I need to give it a proper test with proper rain and some driving - but playing with watering can produced very satisfactory results. It just works out of the box :) Very happy indeed, also been reading that this setup can put some strain on the wiper motor - so need to keep an eye on this - but so far I am very pleased because it just works the way it should.

...and me too :) -
Mr Pat_McCrotch aka Neil thank you very much for a brand new set of my new TT wipers/blades set. Just collected it this morning, everything as described absolutely problems. cheers.

I knew I saw this thread before... just took me 8 pages to find it. Anyway, it looks like my temps: ... are exactly as they should be. It's rather cold outside nowadays, and was thinking my temps are low... but seems 90 degres it's spot on.

Oh nice, good stuff. I'm also from Leeds, it's a comforting feeling there is another Corrado around :)

Bought my new seat handles from volksworld13. Items arrived as described, on time, well packaged - top man. Thanks.

Payment sent, thanks a lot. -
Oh I saw for the first time Corrado in Leeds, outside Hallfords in city centre around 12:30. It was Burgundy colour - to be honest was so shocked didn't even had a proper look. Also was on rush to pick up my misses so couldn't stop for a quick chat. ahh next time.. would that be you Critical_Mass?
