Right, few questions I need answering. I was gunna post them in my build thread but thought it best to do it here in case it is of use to others. Putting the coolant hoses back in and have hit a slight problem. One of the hoses that attaches to the heater matrix outlet and has two feeds, one smaller one running to the throttle body the other looking like it attaches to a outlet on the back of the block. Problem being my Audi 3.2 lump doesn't have an outlet only what appears to be a blanking plate. Question being has anyone encountered this before? Is it just a question of removing this, fitting a threaded tube/outlet and then connecting up? Why did VW/audi remove this on the 24v engines. Puzzling as I have seen on other build threads that this is present, is it only the later engines where this has been omitted? Secondly, regarding the idle stability valve, how essential is this? I was planning on running without as my understanding was it was only really used during cold starts and I have seen a number of threads where this has been removed. If its just a case of holding the revs for a bit before she warms up i can live with that as its not going to be my daily, however if its going to be a question of constant stalling at lights I shall look into plumbing it in? Answers on a postcard please. Max,

These are just a couple of photos showing the new o2j mk4 gear shifter, this is now installed, only thing I still need to get is the mk4 selector tower for the gearbox, proving a far harder task than I first thought, but will keep my eyes on ebay hoping one comes up. Just a couple to show the new Hella rad with revotec fans. Due to the radiator not having the lip top and bottom the fan brackets wouldn't fit. I toyed with the idea of getting a frame made up but when it boiled down to it, for £10 I thought id try the revotec fitting kit, to be fair they seem to work very well, fans are rock solid, no movement at all and look quite tidy once fitted. You can also see the fitment for the mocal, ended up cutting an oval out of the radiator support and feeding the hoses through this, is far neater, and there is now a nice bit of slack on each line so feel much more comfortable with this set-up. This turned out to be a total result. I work for BT and it transpires that both the tube and connectors we use to blow fiber optics fit as a perfect replacement to the standard tubing VW used for the central locking system. I stupidly misplaced a few sections during the rebuild so being able to use this was a total result. Internal diameter is slightly larger by eye, so may take the pump a tad longer but at least I know it is all new and air tight. If anybody requires any, tube or connectors, let me know, I'll be able to post some off as long as you cover postage. The top photo shows what I have been using to replace the standard felt. Every bit of trim has had the felt replaced with this. It is 1mm self adhesive neoprene. Bought a massive 2m x 2m sheet for about £15, I also used it to replace the foam on the heater flaps and after getting a battery hooked up, result, the fans now actually direct the air correctly, rather than just venting into the dash, lol. so far it appears to work very well, certainly stops any squeaks from trim panels rubbing and so easy to work with. Just offered the hoses back in as once I get the throttle body these are ready to be connected up. painted the bottles black as I just didn't like how faded they looked even after running them through the dish washer twice. You can't see from the photo but I left a small section on both the header tank and PAS bottle taped, this was removed when dry and allows me a little window to still be able to check fluid levels. quite pleased with how the bay is starting to come together now. Final photo shows my completed engine loom, Richard is just finishing off the car loom and all things going well should be collecting both from him at Ultimate Dubs next sunday. Quite excited actually as my looms will be on display along with his Corrado as a demonstration of the work he can offer. Now I would like to make some mention of this car but have been sworn to secrecy, suffice to say its going to be quite a motor, its debuted will be there and I cannot wait to see it in the flesh, even if it will make mine pail in comparison. There you go, I know it wont be to everyones taste, I have made no effort to keep it oem, but I like to think its kept all that makes a corrado so special but with tweaks in all the right areas. It's no show pony, is a bit rough around the edges but is the first car I've ever really modified, and considering I've had no formal training and pretty much learned as I go, I think I've done a pretty good job. A massive thank-you to everyone who has helped along the way with advice, parts or whatever, I literally couldn't of done it, nor would I of even attempted it without the help of this forum, so thanks everyone, you've made this whole project a reality:thumbleft: She should be finished by the 3rd week of March, after nearly 2 years I cannot tell you how excited and apprehensive I am. Fingers crossed she starts with no major issues and look forward to catching up with you lot at a few shows this year. Cheers, Max,

Mate, I know these cars can be testing at times but that seriously sucks. Stick with it, and just think of all the valuable knowledge your gaining through the trials and tribulations:brickwall: best of luck, max,

Hi mate, had a bit of a mare a few months back regarding steering racks. I cannot say 100% but if both are ZF racks then yes they will be the same. Of that era there were only the trw and ZF racks, ZF being the alloy (waffle) type, if I remember correctly. So I would say no worries they will be the same. Have a look through my last threads, I had to order a set of new pas pipes so had to get my head round this not to long ago. Any other issues I'll try and clarify. Max,

As above if using the United motorsport one has to be 4 motions style manifolds not mk5. Can confirm du power no longer supply, also called another company but forgotten the name who said both they and dubpower had a set amount which have now all gone. Neither company would be prepared to order another batch as demand is too low and they would be left with X number of manifolds unable to sell. So option is either UM or custom. Companies such as swift mentioned, infinity near M4 Jnc 18 will do it but they quoted me nearer 550 and would need the car there, not an option for me. Hope this helps. Max.

Sean, I think I may of worded it badly but I'm pretty sure I'm agreing with you mate. The bolt in between the two main 17mm bolts only appears to hold the crossmember to the radiator support, the radiator support is then bolted to the chassis itself with the outer most bolt, again a 17mm only shorter. I used this central one to pull the two beams together, I just assumed this is what it was for??? So I assembled those on the floor and then offered the whole lot up. Meant the two main 17mm bolts had plenty of thread on them to start into the bumper brackets. I always make sure I've put a jack under or chains just in case I'm a dick and undo something in a moment of madness. I try to cover my bases as I can be a bit gun ho at times!! The little threaded plate securing that central bolt is pretty waffer thin I wouldn't trust it. Hope that's clearer! Max,

Yeah they are still available as well, bout 70p each from the stealers mate. Best bet if the crossmember and radiator support are coming off is fit the blue bolts off the car and apply securing bolt if thread is shagged. Then offer up, with jack under the front engine mount. I actually strapped a seat belt round the front mount and used a engine crane to lift it up this allowed me to fit jack under crossmember and then jack this up into place without all the weight on it. Get the 4 17mm bolts fitted but leave loose, then the 2 yellow bolts and once all in loose tighten them all up until nipped then work your way round torquing them in tight. There is a bit of play so leaving them loose allows you to get them all lined up properly before clamping them down. Hope this helps. Max,

Hi, as I had my front end off yesterday I may be of some help. I may get told I'm talking out my are but the blue bolts you've circled do NOT hold the crossmember to the chassis rail they are from what I've used them mearly a way of compressing the front crossmember bushes to allow the larger and vital 17mm bolts to locate through into the bumper brackets, whilst joining the crossmember to the radiator support. Once the 4 larger 17's are in plus the smaller 17(circled in Orange are in, these bolts(the blue ones) are essentially redundant. I know this after a large bowl of spinach I managed to knacker the thread in the passenger one so removed to check and there is only a small metal washer welded or fixed in a concave on the underside, I'd cracked this thus slackening the thread. I just whacked a nut over the top and tightened down. Hope this clears it up. Cheers, Max

Morning all. Thanks for the replies. Swift:- mate your a star, I have hit a total brick wall trying to track one down. The scrappy by me won't split and want £100 for the box. Can't justify that. And as he said, the last bit of the jigsaw puzzle. Tom:- mate I'll have the handles and lighter please bud, pm me a price and I'll move it over when I get home later. Chris:- cheers mate but I've managed to source the centre trim bit and I'm really after a humped rear. Thanks though. Dan:- sorry mate as above gotta be a humped corrado bud.

that was quick, yeah pics would be good. what sort of price you thinking boss?

Hi guys, list below, let me know what you've got, cheers. mk4 selector tower, the ball type, having a nightmare tracking one down. driver and passenger door handles, complete with everything. center trim section that contains rear ashtray and handbrake bit. cigarette lighter, mines got clips snapped. rear bench, not worried about material as will be re trimmed, but foam has to as good as possible please. Thanks in advance.

Just an update, turns out the rack fittings are universal between the two. Got a kit from the power steering shop. Nice bloke who runs the place, all fitted really well, looks the buisness. The kit cost £135, that included the complete high pressure line and the low pressure line was included upto the T-piece, where I then had to get 1-1/2 metres of extra hose at the larger size. This then runs from the bottle through the cross-member pipe and back to the pump. With jubilee clips it's came to about £20. Just in case anyone else was thinking of changing theirs. I'll post some pics up later of them fitted. Cheers,

As title really, just went to refit the dash I was sold as a late and now realise its an early, so doesn't fit the rest of my later dash stuff, and on closer inspection is a bit shabby, anyway, looking for a late black dash in as good a condition as possible. Thanks, max,

Hi Graham, Ill just add my thoughts, I had a remapped ecu fitted to my car previously and although throttle response seemed a tad better I'm not sure what actual gains it achieved. Luckily I only bought the ecu for like 30 quid as my original died. From talking to people and reading up a lot of tuning places offer these set increases in HP from a remap when in reality on a largely stock engine I cant see them managing to free up 12HP, seems highly optimistic . I think remapping, much like Sean said above more than anything alters the way in which the power is delivered, more than any actual increase. If it was me, for £160 quid, Id give it a bloody thorough service, new plugs, air filter(panel filter?) leads, oil filter, oil, gearbox oil and replace any manky looking sensors, should be ale to get that done for the money and would, I'm sure, sharpen everything up nicely. If you are going to go ahead with a remap get the car scanned for fault codes first as some garages will map it anyway and any issues could be magnified under a new map. I'm sure someone will now come along and tell me I'm talking out my arse but there you go. Cheers, Max,

Pm me a price mate, I won't be able to collect so is poetage ok?

In the same boat boss, was in dealers yesterday and asked about it, he said discontinued and didn't even think Heritage would stock them, so basically after good second hand which I imagine will prove a pretty thankless task. However if you manage to come up with something I'd ove to know. I did think about trying to get some from a newer model with similar tunnel layout but haven't had a chance to poke round the scrappy as yet, I imagine it's s dead end though. I think people have repaired with adhesive aluminium foil stuff, I was also considering using this to effectively re-trim them so they appeared new. Probably end up getting some second hand ones and doing just this. Cheers

Yes indeed, the bit the head unit, fog light switches, heater control etc clip into. Cheers

Hey, The main dash insert for a late spec dash, as good a condition as possible. Let me know what you've got. Cheers, Max,
-
It hasn't arrived yet, lol.

Right, thought I'd give you an update, as im sure your all loosing sleep over my downpipe woes. Anyway, had a call from the Phirm today saying they'd been in contact with United and they will be able to supply the downpipe as advertised for £325 plus postage. 20day wait which I'm not to bothered about. United are gunna call me later to get payment sorted. It appears then that this problem seems to be resolved, Fingers crossed it arrives safe and up to the job😁!! Max,

Brilliant, cheers Sean, lol. P for positive.

Thanks for the advice guys, Swift, that looks the business mate, Sadly I don't have a welder and haven't a clue how to weld if I did, be lovely to have the kit and skills but alas. Just as an update I still haven't heard anything from either United or the Phirm, starting to think this is gunna turn into a total nightmare. Do any united or Dubsport manifolds ever turn up second hand, any other forums worth trying?? Cheers,
-
Superb, thank you for that, much appreciated. I shall get back into them tomorrow, bloody idiots don't even know there own stock. Cheers mate.

Any news on this guys? Am I ok to just order the golf set? Really want to get these ordered ASAP, confirmation would be grand.
