Ok folks... i am 50% way thru this. SO far so good. Just decided to "stop thinking about it, and get the screwdriver out" Only thing is, i havent got any coloured filter paper yet. Have taken it all apart and test refitted it, and it all still works, so just a case of getting the coloured filter paper tomorow and whacking it in. At the same time, wanted to fit the chrome bezels i bought ages ago. They dont fit too well and leave gaps around the sides. Does anyone know how to get the perspex off the front of the main instrument cluster? PS Massive thanks to gradeAfailure, for being my "online helper" tonight. Cheers Dave.

I have noticed them on more and more modern cars, and thought the same thing as you. Like Jim says, at least we wont have to go to VW stealers for them any more!

Yes you should buy one! (yes im biased) But they are simply great cars. My advice is to first take your time and look at as many as you can. Sometimes they are overpriced, and other times there are some real bargains out there. In my opinion, it doesnt have to have a VAG service history, but as long as its got a proper service history is important. Remember past MOT's are always good to quantify how genuine the mileage is. It may be better to find a car with specialist service history than VAG as specialists often do a better job than VW Stealers. I think you can get a corker for that budget. There are plenty about, just a case of being patient really. And you are already doing the right thing, that is asking on this forum about anything you are unsure of.

Am thinking of taking the whole thing out and taking my time over it in doors rather than rush it in one evening. Always wanted to do this mod, but like i say, dont wanna rush it and have a broken instrument cluster! PS, where do you get/buy "coloured" filters to change the colour?

I Understand how vexxed you must be about this. I got pulled over on the M1 driving home from York late on a Sunday night. The cozzer said hes stopped me for my plates being illegal. The spacing was not 100%. Alot of you guys have seen my plates. None of the letters are mis shaped, and you can tell what all the characters are clearly. I got a £30 fine. They didnt even ask me to change the plates! Just a fine! What kind of sense is this? To top it off, he went and took a polaroid picture of the plate incase i query the fine!!! I had to sit in the back of their car while they read me the rules and waffled. Finally, they said "2.9 is that?..... Tell you what "DEL", if you'd have put your foot down, we'd have had no chance of catching you" To which i thought "yep, you wouldnt, but you'd have radio'd every cozzer in the area and got a helicopter up in the air to stop me, you to$$ers!" absolute W@nkers! There are much worse plates, with badly distorted figures out there! Its another piggy bank scheme for them!

Forget Corsas and the likes. Its much more fun having races with 911's and M3's. Usually they will be quicker (unless its a crap driver) but 9 times out of 10, when you eventually do both stop, the driver of the other car will be in awe that you kept up so close and gave them such a close run. This has happened to me twice with a Porker, and a newer one at that. The driver opened his window and said "what on earth have you got under the bonnet? I expected to annihilate you!" thats a much better feeling than burning off much obviously slower cars.

as far as i have always known, Mille Miglia is a quality make. Have never had any myself. Nearly bought a set a couple of years ago but then Borbet C's came up so never bothered.

And that too against a Corsa! Next time, leave them to it. Its much cooler to pull away slowly knowing that you have a superior car.

ironically, its the same head unit as yours im having fitted! Havent had an Alpine for years. Cant wait to have it in! Will be like "Being home"!

I have an amp that i want to use to power the speakers. yes i do want Bass. Not "stupid show off @ car show bass". Just good quality bass that doesnt have to be turned up to sound good (but still sounds good when you do turn it up), and I do want a sub in the back as they always give the sort of sound i am lookin for. Just not sure what to go for at the moment. Have got bags of cash to throw at it either.

Have already read thru many of the threads in this section already, but not found the definitive ansa to what i want to know. Am about to get a new head unit for the VR, and want to upgrade the speakers some time soon too. Thing is, i really cant afford the Audioscape pods. What i really need to know is what i can get away with using the current door speaker holes and if i replace the 2 in the dash. Dont know what size they are, and dont know what to buy either. Tend to listen to alot of Bands with mainly "real" instruments in the music i.e. Manics / U2 / Red Hot chillis etc. Was also told that if you have a sub woofer in the boot, its a bad idea to mount 6x9's on the shelf as they are going to be fighting each other? any truth in this? If so, how can i upgrade the rear speakers? They are only tiny areny they? 5x4 or something like that? I know its asking alot of info, but i do need to know a fair but before parting with my cash. Dont want to do something i regret after! Cheers for any advice folks.

hope my question isnt too off topic... but how much is it roughly to convert from standard brakes to 312mm? Tanking into account all the ancilliary parts required etc? plus labour etc? my first thought when i read the post was to change the fuel filter, and after reading what the others have said, it is still to change the fuel filter.

its the nicest white corrado ive ever seen too i reckon. just needs to be dropped and given some nice deep alloys!

like the idea Jim Also reckon a Speedline or an original Corrado alloy wheel would look better. My speedlines are out of reach so i cant take a picture. How about a Borbet C? :wink:
